besides the fucking RIAA, how many fuckin genres are there? And to make matters worse, everybody percieves them as different. Cant there just be music? So many musicians are combining various genres, and instead of spending more time to apreciate them, idiotic critics create a new name for a genre they think represents this music. After reading a genre that was described as 'generally unclasifiable', i laughed, then loaded my gun.

i dunno about the music industry, i completely quit, i stopped buying rolling stone, spin, and all that stuff, i don't know what ablums come out when and so on......i've been this way for probably about 8 months or so....its working for me, i buy more old stuff this way, but not too much stuff

See for punk/emo/indie/hardcore...a lot of the bands are similar in a lot of ways but the big difference is the people at a show. If punks show up to a hardcore show with a 2 foot row of spikes on their head every kid in camo cargo shorts and a youth crew shirt are gonna punch them for looking like that. Some kids just take their 'scenes way too seriously.

i dont mind that there is a lot of genres, what pisses me off is that there are kids who limit themselves to one genre and think all other music is crap.

start listening to the music more often, the music is quite an enjoyable band and has influences from many genres,

Basically if you debate this issue in your mind a lot you will come down to this, you either have to classify music, or classify people. You either have to define your musical preference in one genre name of define yourself in one way. There really is no way around it. I am pretty into the 'hardcore scene' but I also love The Dead, this makes me less of a scenester; anyone see what I am getting at?

I just trade shows with people. its free, easly and legal. you get the best music for the price of a postal stamp and its a great hobby. pluse i am not supporting those damn media conglamoris that are taking over the world
