One ski quiver for US and Canada skiing

Hey guys, I'm from NZ looking for a ski to take away on travels with me, I want to come ski in the US, colorado sort of area, and whistler sort of area in Canada (haven't planned anything yet but that'll be for another thread). I'm just looking for a ski as a fun daily driver for all those sorts of places mid-winter, not doing any touring, potentially want something that I could use in the park but definitely not a priority. I'm 20 years old, 5'9", 145lb, and an intermediate - advanced level skier, I haven't had a whole lot of time at all to research these skis so far as I'm currently studying, but liked the idea of something in the sort of 105 ish width?

Line Sick Day 104

Armada Tracer 108

Salomon QST 106

I have no idea if I'm even going in the right direction with these skis but some advice on them and any other suggestions would be sweet.

P.S. I have contact with suppliers here in NZ for Line, K2, Armada, Rossignol, Salomon, Blizzard, Nordica, Volkl, faction and atomic, so ideally would stick to any of these guys for a decent price.

I’de highly recommend the bent chetler 100 if you want something playful and light that can also shred all mountain. The hzn tech also makes the ski feel wider and surfy in pow. But if you want something stiffer that charges big lines hard I’de say look at moment (pb&j, deathwish,

wildcat 108). This is just what ive been on tho

What do you ride at home?

What skis do you like or dislike and why?

ARV 106 without any other information, everyone seems to get along with them really well.

If you're not touring why would you want the tracer 108?

Yeah I have heard good things about the bent chetler 100's too, they would be another option for me, do you think they would be wide enough for most snow over in the US?

At home I actually ski on the ARV96's and I love them, so I was thinking the 106's would be quite a good option too, does anyone ski on those as a daily? opinions? I've heard the tracer 108's sit well as kind of a lightweight all mountain ski as well, was just wondering what people's take would be on it as a daily, again just haven't really had time to do a whole lot of research myself

Yeah I'de say so. I live in SLC and they were my one ski quiver this past winter at Alta. Like I said, they ski wider than 100 in deep snow and have some good float. But if you only want this ski for deep days out west and don't need it to be for everyday/all conditions you might wanna look for something wider.

ARV 106 is a very safe bet if you like the ARV 96. Could also go with the ARV 106Ti if you want something a bit more stable, and are ok with it being a bit more sluggish.

ON3P Jeffrey 108 or Woodsman 108 are worth a look for something more stable. I'd probably take the Woodsman over the Jeffrey for use in all conditions (better edge hold).

Moment Wildcat and Deathwish seem like solid options, though I haven't skied them.

K2 Marksman if you want a really loose, surfy, playful ski.

Icelantic Nomad 105 is another really good all-round option that's playful and stable. Pretty burly construction too.

New Line SFB is worth a look if you want maximum playfulness and don't care too much about stability.

The skis you mentioned are all good skis, but I'd usually recommend them to people who are doing a bit of touring. You can get more stability out of a heavier ski and the weight isn't as big of a deal for inbounds-only use.

Really appreciate the reply man, what would say are they main differences between the marksmans and the arv106?

I haven't spent a ton of time on the Marksman, but the main thing that stood out to me was that the Marksman is more playful overall — easier to slash around and a bit lighter swing weight. But the ARV was a bit more stable at speed and a bit more well-rounded overall, IMO.

Cheers! Think I’d be steering more towards the arv’s as something more well rounded as you said, thanks for the advice

Have a look at the 4frnt devastators as well, haven’t tried them personally but ive heard good things about them. Im debating between them and arv 106’s for next season
