On3p vs Faction

looking to get new skis this year and I think I have narrowed it down... Im looking at the ON3P KARTEL 98, FACTION CANDIDE 1.0 or 2.0. I live on the east coast ski all mountain then take days in the park as well. Cant Decided between the skis any help would be awesome and size help would be clutch. I ski the Line Chronic 171 but thats from 2 years ago. 5'10 and 210lbs
 
Kartel 98 is a really great ski for the East Coast. Great in the bumps, plows through anything, not bad in the pow and its ON3P, so they’re bombproof.
 
If you do all mountain, knock off the 1.0, the 2.0 is much more versatile. Honestly, The Kartel 98 is a really good east coast ski
 
I've got the faction 2.0s in 178cm, I'm 5'10 so about 178cm tall as well. I had them centre mounted with salomon sth 2 wtr 13 bindings. They feel short when they ski and I would have gone to 183 (i think thats the next one up) if I was leaning towards more big mountain but 178cm was perfect for what i wanted.

I used them for just under 5 months and virtually every day (i was doing a season in the alps) and absolutely loved them. They got bashed about, rails, big jumps, grass skiing, rock hopping - the lot. The top sheet looks like I've continually bashed it against an angle grinder but the actual ski itself is in great condition - absolutely no complaints manufacturing wise.

I came from a scott punisher jib ski - very different skis. The difference in riding is incredible though, I loved playing around on the candide's and had so much fun smashing it down a blue that i'd done 100s of times before. I found these so playful and creative to ski - however I haven't many other skis so can't give out a comparison.

In the park it was stable and confidence inspiring. powder was hard work but this was obviously down to the mount I had it at, it did float well though and i'd love to try it at a different mount.

I'm very happy with these skis and will be using them again this season, no need for a new pair of skis. I definitely don't charge as hard as some of you but couldn't be happier with this ski for me. If I was going for another pair i'd stick with faction, probably the 4.0s as a full on off piste ski and leave my quiver at that.
 
im keeping my armada alpha xs for this season but its probably between the kartel 98s and candide 2.0s after that
 
yeah i ski the east coast so you never know what the next day will bring ahah but I'm taking a couple trips out west. so with that I'm thinking the candide 2.0 may be what i end up with i just don't want it to be to wide underfoot and in the tip and tails and make it hard to throw quick 3's and stuff around the mountain to make it creative

I've never been on on3p, so probably know as much as you do (am actually considering buying kartels for an only park ski)

I haven't been on the new faction 1.0 and 2.0 but have skied with friends who ride them, 2.0 seem very good, although not as durable on rails.

I have been 2 seasons on faction's prodigy (136-98-126), so I can give you a review of those, as they're by far the best skis I've had: I got those for all mountain, but soon used them 60% of the time in the park and 20/20 on piste and in pow. They just kill it everywhere. I never felt that good landing anything with em, the wideness just made every stomp so enjoyable. Riding rails with them was great, and they were light enough to be very manoeuvrable and easy to spin switch ups or on and outs. The flex pattern is awesome, the big early rise (that got very big as I pressed them in over time) makes it really easy to butter and nollie, but they remain sturdy and will hold you if you land backseat and forgive if you land wrong a little. They are BY FAR, and that point is the one I was most impressed with, the best freestyle carving skis. I could carve almost as well as with gs skis when I was on hardpack, I dunno how it works, but they just carve the fuck up. Speed isn't a problem either, they only start to jitter when you go really fast (I recall speed testing on my phone and reached 90kmh with a great hold). They're awesome in the pow, that early rise just makes them sit on top all day. Last but not least, I was super impressed with durability. I was planning to get another pair just after a season, and here we are another season later, quite a few urban sesh, and a few very rocky days, and I could probably ride them for one more season. I have one edge crack, where the edge goes back in the base for 2cm or so (from hitting a rock when I stopped) and even though I rode with it for around 20 more days since then, no signs of delam or change with the crack. The base held up super well, and most impressive is the top layer, pretty much intact a part from chips on the sides from banging the skis together. So there it is, the only reason I'm buying another pair is because I want a wide park ski that I will only use for park, so that I can use the prodigy for a few more seasons (hopefully) just jibbing around out of the park and on pow days. If you're looking for a jibby do it all ski that rips everywhere and still holds up for a while, get it. The only downside I could find is if you want a slightly thinner ski (personally I'm actually considering getting the fatter kartel version because I love wide skis in the park so much now (I do have a 88 stiff park ski too, so I know I prefer FAT)

I fucked up on the first lines here, my friends actually had the first version and second version of 1.0, so I don't know anything bout the 2.0, and actually Twig said in another thread that they are more durable than the prodigy
