On3p kartel 98 or 106

How is the kartel it looks like and extremely fun ski, but it is expensive as hell. Does anyone know more about this ski, and if I ski 90 park and 10 percent mountain, but that 10 percent is mainly powder should I get the 106 or the 98. Will the price for these skis ever drop

98 is fine. If you can't ski powder on a 98mm ski (which is pretty wide as of a few years back), chances are you suck at skiing and shouldn't really be focusing your time in the park as much since you should be working on your skiing ability.

It is expensive because ON3P builds bomb-proof skis. Sounds like you want a 98. The 106 is made for the person who will be riding 70% outside of the park.

I'd say it depends on where you live. I just picked up a pair of 106's but I live in Montana. Even if you do go with the wider ski its still super fun in the park. I mounted mine at -3 so I can rally around the whole mountain and also hit the park. I would would probably grab the 106's over the 98 even for pure park because I enjoy fat skis. But thats just me.

I have the 98's because I ski in the Midwest. If you are in the park 90% of the time, I don't see much of a reason to get 106's. I have skied on 90mm skis in powder most of my life. This is the first year that I have had skis wider than 90mm.

you can buy last years on their sight for less money, i would buy the 98's as they would be better for park which you ride more of

For 90% park, go with the 98. They'll still rip powder with no issues. Here's the review page on them with more info:https://www.newschoolers.com/reviews/2797/Kartel-98

As far as the price goes; a) they're not that much more expensive than other skis in their category (and it's harder to find last years models because they sell out every year), and more importantly b) you're paying for quality - quality of the product and the service. These skis are made by a group of less than 10 guys in a factory in Portland, OR...call the shop and you'll talk to someone who has most likely been directly involved in building your skis, try that with cheaper brand. Not to mention, the thickest bases and edges out there, high quality 100% bamboo cores, and UHMW sidewalls - none of these materials are cheap. ON3P builds skis that are designed to last twice as long as the average ski. So as long as you take care on them, you'll find yourself saving money in the long run.

If you don't need them now, wait and snag at end of the season saw a pair of brand new 176 kartels last year go for 375

they probably went real quick though haha

Ok that is true I heard of their bombproof reputation. Also are they a soft ski because I really want a ski that can butter easily

Actual flex is on th stiffer side tell you break them in, but that takes a bit cause bamboo retains its pop for a while, which is good tho. The rocker makes them super playful. Don't worry about buttering on these because if you actually know how to butter it will be pretty easy.

Have never ridden KArtel's but very tempted to buy them at the end of this year just because of the hype these skis get. Everyone loves them. I think they could replace my aging Surface all mountain skis with the 98 and be a great fit.

Wow that is some great info thanks so my main debate is between the danollies and the kartels they both look like awesome skis. I still have a while to decide though but all this helped

Do eet - had to snag a set of 98's myself this year because the design has been refined to perfection.

Here is what you should know about the 98's vs. the 106's. If youve never ridden on3p is takes a 1-2hrs usually to get use to how they ski because it is different. The 98's will perform better on hard pack snow, but also in the powder. Both are extremely durable and will take a beating everyday no questions asked. 100% worth the price and you wont regret them. Again give yourself time to adjust to how they feel.
