On the topic of progression....

So 15 years ago (if it were 2009 I could say 10 years ago and have a better argument) 720s and misty 5's were footage worthy. Its not like the human body has somehow become superhuman in 15 years to allow the tricks that are landed today, and most of us don't have formal lessons for this stuff.

I get that jump building has gotten alot better but other than that, not much has changed. My point here is, I suck, and I sometimes think, well 15 years ago the stuff i'm doing would have been in ski films, so really, is it just a small group of people who are physically capable of upvote worthy videos?

It isn't like JF and JP were purposely slowing down their spins back in the day, why is a cork 9 so common place today? Is it just more people in the sport means more gymnastically adept people are in parks? Or is it really the small technological improvements have really made that big a difference.

(I'm not talking about pros, obviously as the sport gained momentum and you could make money doing it, when you are in the park everyday all day you have time to figure stuff out.) But I have been trying this stuff for 5 years, and I am never going to ever do a cork 9, but I have to imagine, given the level of skiing just 15 short years ago, I am in the vast majority and the undiscovered gymnasts doing the cool stuff just happened to pick skis over a springboard.

It's because people didn't even think about doing a cork 9 15 years ago, they started doing 9s and shit the next year or two and sw 10s blew up, so on and so forth.

It's not that they couldn't do it 15 years ago, they just didn't even know what a dub cork 10 was.

It's because there are more people in the sport now, so there's a higher chance someone will land something groundbreaking.

Exactly, it's really just a numbers game, the bigger a sport gets and the more people participate will directly impact the number of people who push the envelope. That and as our sport has gotten bigger a lot more money has gone into everything related to the sport, not just skis and boots and gear, but in training facilities a well, 15 years ago people didn't have the chance to go to places like windells or COC in the summer, Olympic trampolines and foam pits were more rare, people simply have more resources an more exposure now.
