red is it's own company not owned by Oakley. I thought most people knew that since rd is a pretty big company.
 
Actually RED is a pretty new company that makes the best digital cameras ever. Best HD nowadays, cinema style. I'm fucking drunk
 
The Red Camera Company is owned by Jim Jenard. Jim Jenard started Oakley (bmx bar grips)and just sold the majority of his shares a few years ago. He still has major shares in Oakley but is now concentrating on Red. Jim has always been into photography and actually owns probably one the biggest collections of cameras knowen.
 
they have so many ridiculous attachments and when you get all the stuff you want on the camera it is way to much money
 
also because of jim, I believe that the optics of RED cameras are manufactured by the same people who do oakley optics. not 100% on this though. but I do recall hearing something about oakley lens technology being used on RED lenses
 
Jim and james are the same name....

And oakley was originaly funded by RIpcurl... sooo oakley is preety much an aussie company. along with quik( half seppo too ), and billabong
