as of right now, the guru's are trying to get pipe into the olympics. but if you think about it thats not necessarily a good thing. look at FIS though, they'll cap the potential these skiers have like they did to racing. its bull shit really...and those drug tests? no way. the only skiers they'll get if they keep that up are the jeremy bloom type. and he sure as hell isn't progressing the sport like guys like tanner. so if i were you, i'd leave the olympics the way they are, and if you want hardcore skiing go to the x-games.

I don't know if newschool skiing olympics will end up like it did in FIS, because the olympics don't demand that your winter be dedicated to a set schedule of events all winter like the FIS, but rather it's a one time thing, and the drug tests are then... so they could hold off on the treefer for a few weeks before the test. Also, there is a lot more honor and glory to winning the olympics and representing your country there as opposed to winning an FIS event that very few people were paying attention to anyway.

dont worry too much about drug tests, those are manily for steroids anyway. The problem with FIS is that they dont like hieght as much as style. I dont see how that have limited racing so much though?

 
hey tanner skis well when hes high, and we want our athletes do ski their best, so it only makes sense...

you never see a wall ride or any grind feature on the wall at the olympic snowboarding events. they need to throw in a gnarly lip feature so D.Kass and squadron can do their damn thing.

i think it'd be sick if pipe was in the olympics.. and i doubt it would take away the attention pipe skiers get from like the Xgames.. it'd just give a chance for some of the pipe skiers (who want to) to ski the olympics.. people feel different ways about it, so they should put it in and let those who want to compete.

it's like, there's now FIS pipe competitions, and they're not that popular but some people ski pipe FIS.. and they want to. so let them ski the olympics.

oh, and by the way, that robin williams quote was about snowboarders but sure. ;D

I'm betting that we'll see some kind of halfpipe event in Torino in 2006, with a full contest in whistler, or Cypress rather, in 2010.

As for what's gonna go down, it'll be something like this: Some riders will boycott it and go to some super underground event, like Terje did when he boycotted Nagano and went to the baker banked slalom instead; other riders will go to the games, talk shit about the IOC and the FIS the whole time they're there and write things like 'Terje was right' on their bases and topsheets, and won't medal but will embarass themselves and the sport; and some will take it somewhat seriously and do well, gaining more fame, popularity, and money than any other event win could ever get them.

Then there'll be the dumbass who gets caught with weed in his system(probably Canadian...from Whistler) who'll fight his disqualification and win. History has this uncanny ability to repeat itself.

yeah i think it be sick to see 1/2 pipe in the games. i think ppl would stop drugs be to rep ur country would be sick and you could still progess the sport i mean snowboarding is still progressin. And well u guys say u want vid games of skiing? well untill a lot ppl around they world repect jibbing there will never be a game so i think it is a good thing.
