olympic halfpipe skiing would send our sport into the mainstream, and who would trust olympic judging? and plus the aerialists would probably come in, huck some huge ugly tricks in the pipe and win.

I admit it would be cool if i could compete for an olympic medal, but it would destroy our sport, look at snowboarding, their sport is being destroyed ever since it became mainstream.

Like it or not, skiing will be added to the olympics eventually. The olympic committee will see that freeride is gaining popularity and then add pipe (and maybe others) just like they did with moguls.

the olympics totally destroyed snowboarding. before it was in, there wernt as many poser ass snowboarders and after it went so mainstream everyone and their mothers pimp started snowboarding. i mean seriously do u want newschool to be so mainstream that every fat kid that sees snow will want to jib shit?? i think its rad that i only know 6 other kids at my home hill that do newschool shit and that its still unpopular to be cool. the same went for skating and surfing, they blew up so big that everyone had to try and the sport lost everything it could have had

^I agree. I love the fact that there are only about three of us at my hill that jib (or at least try). It would suck if there were alot of us.

who the hell gives a shit if there's 50 fat kids on the mountain that can't ski ridin around on troublemakers? guess what, you'll still be better than them, and all the money they spent goes into making better skis. have you seen any of this years snowboarding movies? they all suck right? fuckin olympics. and my friend that boards? he has no fun anymore on the hill ever since those assholes on the IOC added snowboarding.

Yeah, well put. Mainsteam isn't necessarily a bad thing. I know it won't affect how I ride. More people means more money coming in. More money to ski companies means better and/or cheaper products. More money to ski hills means new lifts and/or cheaper tickets.

And I really don't think it's affected snowboarding much at all. It's just more accepted now as a serious sport.

Hey for the guy talking about skateboarding you still do get arrested for skateboarding and more often. I got a 75$ ticket last week for skating. There are no good street spots left because they all got capped so its not all gravy for us skaters. And most skateparks suck anyways they get no skaters to design the park and barely any parks are street orientated and the most of the tranny is whacked anyways. Also Its funny to skaters the X-Games and Gravity Games because. is a big joke. There are skaters who just skate contests and no one takes them serious. I think skiing should take that philosophy like fuck contests and instead like do team tours and shit like that more often and videos and mags.

 
I wish newschool would get more popular/mainstream/sellout. That means more/better parks, cheaper tickets, more/cheaper/better skis, more people sponsored so they can make a living doing what they love, and most importantly... more girls...
