Olympic Half Pipe Skiing STICKY

If the idea of mass market appeal in skiing scares you, and if you like being in the minority,

the Olympics are the last thing you should be for.

has snowboarding really changed since boarding pipe has been in?

no, and neither will skiing if it gets in

no i realize that, but i was talking about like has it changed the whole attitude about it making it gay like moguls or something just because its FIS regulated

Snowboard halfpipe has been an Olympic event since Nagano 1998.  Maybe you are thinking of snowboardcross which had it's Olympic debut in Torino 2006.

And again, to anyone arguing that it should not be in the Olympics, realize that you are arguing to keep the pro skiers from having an Olympic chance (an opportunity they ALL want). With that in mind, what makes you any better than FIS or the IOC if you are trying to RESTRICT the top freeride skiers from doing something they all want to do?

If you don't like it in the Olympics, don't go, and don't watch it on tv, that's all you need to do. Stop trying to impose your vision of the sport on other skiers, especially the pros who are putting their life into this sport.

Money doesnt affect my skiing. I think the small shops should just keep doing what theyre doing and let the sport progress on its own

yeah man. everyone seems so amazed that skiers can do rails and pipe. then again, my hill is only 150 feet tall and people are amazed by anything. i think olympic pipe skiing would cause more people to ski, and cause mountains to have better pipes and parks to attract more customers and make more money.
