Old People + Longboarding

So I was just cruising down this hill when I found out my right foot hurt too bad to do a really good toeside carve, so I decided to staightline the rest of the hill. So I'm going pretty fast down the hill and I turn onto my street and am riding down the middle of the street, just cruising along. I see a lady in a mini-van pulling out of her drive way so I cut across the road onto the sidewalk in order to get out of her way and not cause any problem. So I just keep skating along and the lady passes me and she flips me off, hahahaha. How rediculous is that. I didn't do anything, i politely got out of her way and did everything to not bug her. And the worst thing is she did this right in front of her 4 year old daughter. Good parenting, huh? I couldn't help laughing though cause it's unbelievable how negative an image old people have of any type of skateboarding, even if is just mellow longboarding. Anybody else have any rediculius stories about crazy old people hating on skating?
 
i always get flipped off wehn i'm long boarding, even if i'm on the shoulder, But the best is just staying on the road, and crusing the centerline. But i usually wear a lid when i'm pulling shit like that.
 
nobody really says anything to me. mall security guards come over to us and pretend to tell us to leave, because their boss needs to see them actually doing work. we just ride around to the other side an continue there. actually barely get any hate from people when riding. usually crazy girls or guys yelling out the window.
 
i almost got a ticket for skating to my dorm in the street. but this is utah so. but besides that not much
 
ha i always get shit from random pple, there is and amazing hill that ends in a huge S turn down hill, you whip through it, and there are never any cars, so my friend was hitting it like always after school and hit some leaves slid out hit the curb was airborn for 10 ft and landed on this huge cement blow like 4ft by 2ft by 3 ft, right on the corner and got knocked out, so we were fallowing in a car, its a long hill, so i hop out and my friend goes to security, in the end an ambulance came he went to the hospital, but me and my friend got taken to campus security and they yelled at us for 30 minutes and shit, gave us tickets for longboarding whole deal, im not paying shit cause they arent the government and its rediculous, but my friend ended up cutting open his kidney and spent 2 days in the hospital
 
yeah, i actually had it happen with a kid my age. i was longboarding in town with my friend and we were going down this street and the speed limit is 25 and this guy passes me doing about 35 and honks the horn. he prolly just spead up to try and scary but i didnt think much of it. so later we get in my jeep and drive off to cruise the strip before wee leave and this guy come right next to us and said some thing but i didnt hear it becuase i was pulling out and he was going faster than me. so i cath up and he says, "you fucking skate boarder if i ever see you on the road im going to kick or ass" so i start laughing cause hes a scrawny kid with his scrawny friend and im not a little guy so i just said "ohhh shit". it was funny cuase i love it when people try and be a hardass when you know they still havent hit puberty
 
no i dont have any problems when im longboarding but shit when im ripping some urban frrereide mountain biking i seem to have problems with prople i had bottles wipped at me out of cares my friend has been sideswiped by some gerkoff in a pickup truck ive been repeatidly yelled at and fliped the bird . drivers dont want us to do shit on the roads anymore even if we get out of their way and be polite.
 
the worst part for me is its illegal to ride on the sidewalks... its like a lose-lose situation

 
haha i had this old italian guy with nothin on but boxers, a wife beater and a gold chain on start talking to me at the bottom of the hill. he was like "man you guys really come flyin down here. im gonna sit down here and watch and hope you guys hit one of these cars and go splat." then he just laughed and talked to us and told us that his dog liked fags and thats why he was sniffin us.
 
All the old people I know are stoked on longboarding because they did it as a kid along with surfing.
 
I was out longboarding in a parkinglot with the SAB crew doin a hippy hop over a woodfence on the walkway. We were sessioning a blunt at the same time and this black dude walks over and is like ," Shiiitttt, i thought you kids were smoking a cigar, that shits the real deal!" so after a while he tells ushes waiting for a dub bag, his name is "Black", and he starts talking to us about how crazy we are and stuff. So i wip out the camera and on instinct he starts freestyle rapping, but legitly. It was one of the sweeter encounters with people I have ever had.

Some people hate on that kinda stuff because of mainstream media. As long as we act like you did or image with become better and less wreckloose.
 
^one time some assholes started shouting shit at me and my friend, who was carrying his skateboard. I told them I lovedthem, but probably ruined that when I asked if I could bend them over...
 
I was riding the shoulder on this hill because I saw a woman behind me in an SUV who was going to catch me by the bottom, she blatantly sped up to catch up with me quicker and started laying on the horn Like I was in the fucking way. No cars in the other lane. I made a motion to tell her to pass me and she wouldnt... so I just continued carving the hill until the bottom, she proceeded to flip me off and tell me she was calling the cops.
 
ah hell, and this other time I remember going down this pretty short hill, I saw like fedex or someone behind me, so I went into a tuck, and the dude pulls up next to me pretending to tuck over his steering wheel. I'm not sure if he was laughing with me, or at me, but if it was in good spirits, then it was pretty funny...but yeah, way too often I'll see a car behind me, pull to the other side of the street to let them pass, and they won't so I'll just cruise the rest of the way, and then they're pissed when they finally do pass me. Hey asshat, that was your call to follow me the whole way.
 
I've hit two cars, and one person since i' moved back to Ottawa,

Once I was bombing a fair sized hill, and the lady decides to pass me so I'm signalling her to either pass, or let me do the hill, it had a big c curve at the bottom, She turns the corner, and puts on her brakes, I couldn't stop I had no where to go I flew into the side of her car like Whoa... I was so frustrated I laughed it off, she got out of her car and started screaming at me, And I told her to relax, your car is fine, you almost just killed me lady. Then she asked me if My head was all right?

Another time I was longboarding down the street, a dude passes me, then throws a U turn, but he ends up running out of room, and throws his Car into a 3 point turn, I ran out of road, jumped off my board, and did a handplant on his trunk, we both looked at eachother and let by-gones be bygones, we didn't fight over it. Again it was funny.

Another time I was skating down the road, and this guy starts Jay walking, I'm clearly skating a fast pace, but he walks infront of me, I smoked him like we were playing foot ball, he tried to kick my board into traffic, and he ended up kicking it right back under my feet, That was wack.
 
ha when im in my car or on my longboard and people honk or flip me off, i just give them a big smile and a thumbs up. it's great just to see them react and not know what to do.
 
The nieghborhood that has the best hills in my town is also this really rich like almost country club area, and so me and my friends get the cops called on us all the time. Its hilarious because the cops take about two or three hours to show up, and when they finaly get there, they are always pissed because some rich asshole made them drive all the way up there just to tell us not to skate. Its hilarious because we usausly ride at night, so when the cops make us leave we'll just go to a party or something like that instead of doing something physical outside.
 
I cruise down the roads downtown here and no one seems to care. I've cruised past cop cars and nothing. One guy was so stoked on what i was doing that when we stopped at a red light he asked me where i got the board and shit because it was sweet. Offered to take me back up the hill to. hahah
 
haha not skating but i was walking behind this old ass ladies car and she was backing out, she was ready to pull forward and was way out of the spot facing forward way more the she needed so i walked 6 feet behind her car and she yelled at me and said my mom should have told me to watch out for cars.
 
Cops give people tickets here, they do random busts on good streets... I dunno why, because half the population here longboards... Fuck police.
 
Not longboarding but on blades i've gotten everything from blown kisses from chicks to having cars swerve at me followed by screaming about getting off the road. Most recently it was a state trooper on his loudspeaker telling me to get out the road or I'd be arrested for disorderly conduct.
 
4 months ago: not old people, but it was three redneck 25 yr old pieces of shit. me and my buddy are bombing this sick ass hill that has about 5 gnarly curves and mellows out at the end but stays curving. my buddy and i get to that end curve and a truck comes around the corner and nearly hits my dude. car stops & 3 decent sized but still kind of skinny guys hop out and start getting in our faces, mostly my friend's. one of the guys steps in between his friends to my buddy and fake puches my friend quick cause it was getting real heated. my friend got spooked and faces the kid with the tip of his board fast. guy stumbles and hits his hand on the edge of the truck and starts bleeding from the face. nothing really happened after that, just some empty threats about how they were going to kill our parents and shit in their mouths, the usual. it was hilarious
