My dad has an old pentax 35mm and some glass for it the one im most interested in is the k 28mm f/3.5. anyone know if this lens would be any good on my t3i?

Its a good sharp lens. Definitely use it. K mount to ef mount adapters are pretty cheap.

yeah man theyre great. i have a t2i and my dad had a 28mm and a 80-200 pentax K lenses. i got an adapter for 14 bucks on ebay, and its working great

Yeah, I have a Pentax 28mm 3.5, 55mm 1.4? and 135mm 2.5. I use the 28mm and 135mm a fair amount, I haven't used the 55mm much because I have a 50mm but I should, I've heard good things about it. Sounds like I have the same 28 as you, definitely get an adapter and mess around with it. The colors aren't super super great, but they're pretty decent and its a fun lens for sure

and +K for making this thread, it gave me the inspiration to look in my dads old camera bag and i just found a Pentaz SMC 50mm. so stoked

obviously speed. 1.4 and 1.7 are a little sharper than the 2.0.

But for video I doubt you would notice the difference.

And honestly, I dont understand why you would shoot video wide open at 1.4. Your DoF would be un useable, especially with a moving subject.

Ok so it wouldn't be to big of a deal if I buy the 2.0 over the 1.4 for mostly video? Because on ebay it seems much easier and cheaper to obtain.

I would say go for it. No doubt one of the other folks on NS will disagree. But you could always pick up the faster one later if you decide you really need it.

i have the 28 3.5 m42 mount, not really worth using if you have something decent in the focal length already

thanks for the help guys ordering the adapter now....hopefully it gets here in time for the last fruitboot of the season
