Okemo mt snow or stowe

Planning a trip to vt this winter w the homies. Most of us sold our souls to vail so we wanna hit one of the mountains covered by the epic pass. That leaves us to choose between stowe, mt snow and okemo. None of us have been so looking for some insight on what the move is

Looking for chill vibes, nightlife and solid parks/terrain. Cheaper cost of staying/eating is also preferred but not a huge factor. Lmk below

Okemo and Msnow are ≈40 mins apart. So U could do back to back days n still stay at the same hotel. I can’t speak on Stowe Bcs I never been.

IMO the terrain park riding at MSnow (Carinthia) is better than Okemo. Overall I prefer MS over Okemo but they’re both awesome mountains. Okemo got some really beautiful runs you’re sure to enjoy.

OP what terrain are you looking to ski? All 3 of these places have toned back their efforts on parks...however, judging from social it looks like okemo will be better then last year. Carinthia is always pretty chill and they have the clout of practically having the best parks on the east coast (IMO I think Loon takes the cake between the two). Cheaper trip would be going to Carinthia/Okemo compared to Stowe. If you are looking for some chiller vibes after ripping the ski hill I would recommend heading to Stowe but crashing in the Burly area. Same person designed pearl street in Boulder and church street in Burlington. Plus could cop a day ticket at bush and rip

Idk how it went but i know okemo was teying to come back and invest in the park game. Okemo used to have a pretty fire park a decade and change ago. Hopefully they're still trying to get it back.

Mt snow is always a good time for park. Idk how stow is for psrks these days but its a fun mtn.

I have never skied okemo. But I’d say for amazing parks go to mount snow. For good all Mountain skiing and some fun little parks go to Stowe. But Carinthia at mount snow is sick I’d highly recommend going!

My good friend Joey is now the head park manager at okemo. He comes from the super fun park builds at Boreal. Okemo is on the up, park wise. Trust that.

I like to hear it. I only made it there a few times back in the day but was always fun. Was bummed to see the parks decline for a while and stoked to see what seemed like a resurgence.

Tell him somebody on the internet that will probably never ride okemo again is stoked af to hear that! Love a good comeback story!

stowe is a much sicker northern vt mountain, good terrain, likely more snow, parks are fine, village is dope but expensive and it can be crowded

okemo and mt snow are great mountains but they're southern vermont style smaller flatter ones than stowe. great park at carinthia (and that's great news that okemo might be making a park comeback) and like someone said, you could do both of those in the same trip easily and basically anywhere is cheaper than stowe

both great options though, have fun!

We went last year, the adult park was cool. Grom park was kinda embarrassing but starting small is good for kids… just didn’t think it would be that small lol.

I hope they do make a come back, it just looked like they down sized a lot last year. I mean so did Carinthia, but it’s still amazing.

If you ride mostly park then Carinthia at Mt Snow will be the most fun of the three. Other than park, Mt Snow is a very intermediate mountain. Lots of blues, generally wide open. Not a ton of trees if you're into that.

Stowe has the best varied terrain. Generally it is steeper than Mt Snow and has better freeride terrain. It is also further north and therefore generally has better conditions.

Okemo is lackluster. I'd skip it.

Jay Peak is the best mountain in VT imo but it's significantly further up north and probably not on the pass.

i live in vt and i haven't been to any of the 3 but mount snow has really good parks and stowe has some cool shit all mountain wise im pretty sure. i definitely watched some ski the east videos at stowe a few years ago before i got into park and it looked dope.

How you live in Vt and never been to Mount Snow ?!?!?!?!?

All three will be crowded if you are going on a weekend. I worked at Okemo for two years so I’m a bit biased. Okemo is a sleeper, it has some good terrain and fun runs. The parks were good when I was there, been a few years now but they are already hyping the parks for this year. Tom’s Loft and Killarney are great post skiing stops. Also Singletons is right out of town which is debatably the best general store in Vermont.

yes Stowe has good / a variety of terrain but that’s all it offers from my opinion. Snobby attitude, crowded all the time, terrible base layout, terrible parks recently. If you’re looking to impress you friends on Instagram go to Stowe.

as ex-stowe park crew id say to skip stowe and okemo if youre solely focused on parks. both used to be bangin back in the day, but vail is genuinely moving away from investing in their parks (not trying to pick a fight here, just fact of the matter). there are several operational factors that limit each mountain's ability to produce sick parks like they used to, regardless of who is running them (in the case of stowe same man for last 17 years or so, knows what he is doing). sesh mt snow if you want to ride parks.

in terms of terrain, stowe fucks. if there is good snow there are truly unique zones up there only matched by certain areas of the Presidentials in NH for east coast gnar.

in terms of nightlife, none of them are great. i'd second the homie who recommended heading into burly if you are in northern vermont

i will as soon as i have my license and some money

Ahhh I see. Get the epic pass, roughly 4 trips to Mount snow and your pm skiing for free every time after. (Pass is like 500, lift tickets there are like 120 now)

So I’m planning on going to southern vt over spring break, one of the guys coming will not ski park though. How easy is it to go through the park and him go down another trail and meet at the same place at mt snow and okemo? I was looking and Carinthia looks pretty separated from everything but idk. Also, does Okemo even have any decent features this year?
