Ok...so i suck at park and pipe...what do i do now?

so i suck at park and pipe and grinding rails, ive never been in a pipe or off a real jump. and at rails...my skis just slide right under me like its nothing. whats the best way to start learning without killing myself?

thanks

well i can do everything else...its just the park and pipe part...i go on double black and fricken pow and all some cliffs (10ft) and all that hard choppy steep crap...but its boring and i wanna learn park and pipe...i dont wanna be pro

fucking dickhead i hope you are joking. Advice, just get comfortable at skiing the mountain before you try park and pipe. If you start jumps and features before you are ready it'll just depress and discourage you, like it has now. Then just start small on jumps and rails and work your way up

^i agree, don't be a dick. i'm definitely no pro either, i just do it for the fun of it. just stick with it and keep trying. ask for tips around here, and ignore the assholes who give you crap for it. watch movies and study other skiers' forms. start small and gradually gain more confidence, but don't lose that confidence if you fall.

ive been snowboarding for 5 years, and switched to skiing lastweek, you progress relatively faster then you think you would

i second that.

ADVICE FOR RAILS: your knees should always be super flexible. never stiffen up, that is probably why you slide out.

ADVICE FOR JUMPS: if you're ever uncomfortable trying anything off a jump, always straight air it first to see how much speed you need. start with easy grabs. ex. safety(skis strait, grab under right or left boot) and work you way up to mutes and other variations. when you feel comfortable airing jumps you're gonna want to start spinning small. 180's over little bumps and on bigger ones try some pencil 3's or something.

if you just got on twins and are expecting to have stuff down quick you're dead wrong. its gonna take some time to feel comfortable on new terrain like rails and jumps. also find someone else that looks like they might be at about you're level of park skiing and just work back and forth encouraging each other to go bigger.

to keep from slipping out on rails land with your skis flat under you and keep square, getiing low helps me with that

remove your two lowest ribs and suck your own cock.

Actually i suck at park and pipe myself, i'm more of a big mountain and off-piste skier (even though i live out east, yuck)

the weird thing is when you stop caring about progressing and just do whats fun you progress way faster..

i get where your comming from. just keepp at the stuff. dont worry about falling. its probably the best part.. because you get all. "fuck that wasn't so bad. imma do it again!" lol..

build a jump (large) into powder....proceed to hit at way higher speeds than you are comfortable with and huck yourself. Do not worry. You will not get hurt. Try throwing your weight in one direction or the other and you might even do some sweet shit!

straight air the jumps and pipe with crazy gapper steeze. get used to it. you just gotta ball up man.

its not like it happens overnight. even a 360 or a simple railslide has hours and hours of practice behind it for anyone who does it. keep practicing...also ski as much as possible. If you are only skiing like 10-20 days a season then theres no way you can get tricks dialed.

just have fun and ski as much as you can, and ski with people better than you, thats key.

and if youre good at other parts of skiing you should have some really good confidence on skis, that will help out a lot in the park. just ski man youll get better naturally

just dont say grinding rails, say sliding or something, grinding sounds too much like bmx or skateboarding

If you're slipping out, make sure you have a wide stance and you arent leaning backwards or forwards. Get wide, aim for your balls and pop. Just keep trying until you get it, and eventually it will come natural to you.

i forget who it was, but someone had a great signature...it was "hesitation = devastation" and i thought it was totally true...like mercury said, just build a kicker with some friends on a weekend and just hit it for hours...its so much fun seeing what you can do

as long as you can ski. u just must learn. fuck it and giv'er. do that shit. jea. jea. jea.

Just keep practicing, and ski with other who do know how to ski park and ask for tips.

Also, go on the mountain-that's where REAL skiing happens. Besides, I find that if you can huck off a rock/cliff/cornice then it'll improve your abilities on the jumps in the park.

race.

jk

anyways just keep trying and eventually youll get it. dont be negative. have a good attitude and confidence and ull learn some new shit.

When your not skiing find some place with a trampoline or diving boards and it really helps to pracice how different tricks and spins feel in the air. It also helps with air sense.

i do have a tramp and i learned how to do a dspin and trying to teach myself how to do a cork 5 ...and clean up its landing. and i can land 7s

dont quit based on the progression of others..just worry about the progression of yourself and you'll be fine and just have fucking fun
