Ohio dreams water ramp?

Well once again i destroyed my shoulder and im missing the rest of the season and im prolly going to be cleared to skate and such again by august and thats when the last couple of ohio dreams seshes are. So i was wondering what you kids have heard about them or what youve experienced. Its 800 dollas for one week so im hopeing its worth it cos im broke now and id have to work really hard to pay. So my questions are as follows lol..

1. How big are the jumps?

2. Will i prolly be able to get some decent tricks off these things? i wanted to get fronts on lock, rodeo 5 and 7 on lock, get the feeling of going corked and coming uncorked somewhat, double fronties?? ftw?

3. Will my 500 dollar skis be ok because there the only skis i have now, and boots will dry right?

4. Can i only do waterramps all week because i know some camps make you have a schedule and i dont want that shit. Like i want to inline for a little bit at night but not be forced to do stuff. Not to sound like a dick haha

5 All my friend want to go in july so theres a chance that i may be goin alone so will i end up eating luch alone or are the people friendly?

6. MOST IMPORTANT- When you crash horribly in the water ramps do you think it would be possible to dislocate your shoulder because as said above i DESTROYED my shoulder and i will be cleared by august after surgury and 4 months of therepy but ill still be a little fragile and i dont want any problems because then id end up missing next season also if i dislocate that fucker again?

thanks- also if anyone has edits/ pics id like to see them. +k

here's all i know about ramps

I have friends that go to ramp camp in the summer for freestyle (mogul) training. One of the brings their old race skis (or something like that) and im not sure about her boots. i dont think the water and chlorine (assuming there is chlorine, maybe not) is good for the skis. i think your boots will dry, not sure though

and you can get pretty badly hurt, maybe not a disslocated shoulder but hurt in other ways

Jumps aren't huge like aerial jumps. They are toned down a little. People were still throwing double backs, cork 7's, rodeo's and 10's. Those were all off the largest jump. I did not go to a camp, so I don't know about eating alone, but the kids seemed mad chill when I went. As for the skis, I did see someone snap their ski when the plume did not go off. So I would not take your $500 skis there, just pick up a pair of urban skis or something (I'll sell ya my forward mounted (+2 inches lawlz) T-Halls from 04/05!!). And you can get hurt, I mean you still are flipping into a pool of water from around 20 feet high. I hope this helps.

No, you couldn't dislocate it. I was there last year and your free to do whatever you want except the skiing>there has to be a lifegaurd on duty while you ski. Otherwise you can inline, play playstation and swim.

the camp itself and the people who run it a very laid back and also very cool. the owner is a ski rep for 4FRNT ans sms so he knows what is going on. the ramps are so mch fun and do very little damage i broke one pair last year but that was becasue they were remounted. there really isnt a schedeule, you just do whatever you want throught out the day.

not to sure your going to want to use your skis and boots that you would use on snow...

and yes you can get jacked up, I know when we went they would either forget to turn the bubbles on or the air compressor would not work and that shit hurts. It is also entirely possibly to beef it before you hit the jump(saw a few skiers and alot of snowboarders do it).

1. There are three jump sizes and one is really big, but I don't know the actual numbers. PM Jibjib he might be able to tell you.

2. Kids have learned anything from daffys (old school tricks) to double kangaroos. If you listen to the coaches advice and work hard (sounds scripted but it's true) you will most def learn all your tricks.

3. I used one pair of skis last summer and they were fine. Some kids come and blow through four pairs in one week. The reason they were breaking them was because the skis Ohio Dreams had were to small for him. If possible I would recommend you find another pair of skis or call ahead to make sure they have one you can use (they usually do), just to be safe. Your boots wont repel water, they will just dry out.

4. If you sign up for skiing, then you can ski all morning, lunch, all afternoon, lunch, night session, and then you would have some down time for about an hour after it gets dark and before we walk up to the cabins. Sometimes it isn't that long, but you would have the option of skating (a lot of skiers cross train), skateboarding, bmxing in the park, or just chilling and watching a move, guitar hero, etc.

In the mornings each day you have to be at an activity, generally the one you signed up for, so you can have coaching. If you don't want to do the one you signed up for that is usually okay, they just make sure your parents didn't pay all the money for you to sit on your butt. Other than that everything is pretty relaxed compared to all the other camps I have been too. After a campfire or hang out time they like you to go to sleep, but they won't tuck you in or anything like that. I've been to Windells, Woodward, and many other summer camps and Ohio Dreams is the most relaxed and chill atmosphere of all of them.

5. Why don't you go in July with your friends? Yes everyone is friendly. The cabins are just by gender and age, generally two boys cabins and one for the girls. This isn't a big camp yet, so you will get to know everyone! You will never sit alone at lunch, and you will make a ton of great friends from all the sports and from all over the USA.

6. I don't know much about shoulders, so I am not going to promise anything. The pool is aerated, so you land on bubbles. It generally doesn't hurt, but if you get spun around and land on your face then it does sting a little. If you never landed directly on it I think you would be perfectly fine, and even then if you did I think it would be alright. Water can hurt but it isn't that hard.

Check out youtube for edits and PM me for pictures.

Let me know if you have any more questions,

G

1. The big jump is big enough to throw anything that you are trying to learn. I've seen Rodeo 9's, cork 9's, double fronts, double backs, and kangaroo flips.

2. You are going to be able to do all of those tricks. I've done loads of rodeo 5's and 7's on the ramps and learned cork 7's and cork 9's last year no problem.

3. I can't guarantee that your skis are going to be ok, but there aren't too many people that blow them up on the ramps. Also, there should be some skis at camp that you can use if you don't want to damage yours.

4. ^G was right on about this one. Ski in the morning, skate, paintball, bike, slackline, other activities in the afternoon, more skiing in the evening. Evening sessions are usually the most fun because that is when the ramps are the fastest.

5. Pretty much everyone is super nice there. You will def make friends with the campers and with the staff. I wouldn't be worried at all.

6. I'm no doctor, but I would say it is pretty unlikely that you will throw out your shoulder.

All in all, it is definitely worth your money. This year there is going to be at least one flybed (olympic tramp), paintball, a summer rail setup with multiple rails/boxes, a slackline course, and tons of other stuff to do. Hopefully this helps and shoot me a PM if you've got any more questions.

There are a few times when the camp is open to the public for a day otherwise in the Fall they have sessions on weekends.

on of my friends managed to break a leg landing in the water at placid. he had gear problems but still, water isnt safe ill say that.

^^^ I'm not saying water is safe, I'm just saying the chances of him hurting his shoulder again are probably pretty slim.

Skiing is an action sport, and with doing anything involving it (including training on water ramps, trampolines, or a foam pit) it needs to be taken into consideration that you may get hurt. At camp we wear life jackets and helmets, and no one has been seriously injured by the water.

1. How big are the jumps? A: big...40

2. Will i prolly be able to get some decent tricks off these things? i wanted to get fronts on lock, rodeo 5 and 7 on lock, get the feeling of going corked and coming uncorked somewhat, double fronties?? ftw? A:yes you will have enough air time to do it all

3. Will my 500 dollar skis be ok because there the only skis i have now, and boots will dry right? A: YES any skis and boots will dry out for next day

4. Can i only do waterramps all week because i know some camps make you have a schedule and i dont want that shit. Like i want to inline for a little bit at night but not be forced to do stuff. Not to sound like a dick haha A:they are realll kool with stuff. they wont force you. they will convince u to do it. u can skip a sesh on ramps adn skate.

5 All my friend want to go in july so theres a chance that i may be goin alone so will i end up eating luch alone or are the people friendly? A: staff are WAYYYY friendly. depends what campers goo.

A: well if you land on ur shoulder then jea it willl be bad. just land on ur feet first time and urll be goldn!!

thanks- also if anyone has edits/ pics id like to see them. +k A: sorry i have no edits of it there. go to: ohiodreams.com check it out!

i sprained my ankle a few times on the tramps, but alex bowen broke his leg landing in water. it was crazy.

Hey man. Ohio Dreams is seriously one of the best things I did last summer. The water ramps are sick (even for snowboarders like myself, unless you can't ride).

For skiers the water ramps are super easy and great for learning. The vibes there are so friendly and the owner, Ashcraft is out there with everyone. He shares the same love for the lifestyle as we all do.

Here's a little edit I made from last summer.

i only heard this, but one of my buddies said he was able to try stuff on skates, then do it on the ramps in the same day.

the single day i went at the end of last year, your day pass allowed you to use the skate parks. The foam pit rules!

Oh my bad for not replying to this but im def going now in july. It def. soungs worth it. thnks for everyones helpfull replys and pms (G). See whoevers gona be there there

does anyone have an ns name or an email i can contact so i can find out for sure whether i could go up for day during the week in the summer? i really cant go for a whole week

usually they will advertise a few saturdays during the summer that is open to the public. Normally its campers only. If i remember right the DNA Rail Jam was the the first day open for "single day" riders. All Pittsburgh people should get some carpools together for these days.

Go on the Ohio Dreams website and call the phone number and talk to Chris.

There are not many days in the summer when it is open, and since DNA isn't doing the tour that is one less.

I would imagine that he is just busy trying to get everything set up before camp starts up. I know that the trampolines are coming in soon and that's a big deal. I don't think there is anything beyond that, I've talked to him a few times recently.. The best time to catch him is afternoons or on the weekend.

That's what happens when you run an amazing camp by yourself. Cut him some slack. He's the man. He'll get back to you.

tramps are good.

i tryed to call him many times...never returned one call. and i did call him on afternoons and weekends...well i will just have to keep trying then...

That is so weird they don't have single days during the week because I would be willing to pay extra for one day. I don't want to sound like a douche but my parents are not going to send me to camp for a week to hit water ramps.

A lot of people agree with you that Ohio Dreams needs to have day sessions. The problem is that there are kids whose parents will pay for their lil ripper to spend a week at Ohio Dreams. Those families just paid for a their kid to have a week of solid fun and learning new tricks. That kid would learn less if the ramps were crowded.

By only letting campers on the water ramps and skateparks during the summer Chris is insuring that they will have an environment that is good to learn in and have plenty time to get their hits on the ramps. If they pay that's what they deserve.

There are day sessions in the fall, check into it then.

ok im goign there in a week. i called him. he answered by the number on the website. he sounded busy gettigng crap set up....let me know if ur goign to ohio this summa.

Hey Buddie i just went to Ohio Dreams. now i got a misty 9 down easy. and yeah this place is definately lejit!!! they can take things MAJORLY serious if you want it be that way. but dude you ABSOLUTELY NEED to go there for TWO weeks. i went for one week. i learn so many new tricks. BUT with 2 weeks it gives you so much more time to get everything down. also i would bring your roller blades. they have a foam pit there. i learned alot of tricks in that foam pit too. the major plus about bringing your blades is that not only you get ramp time. but you can still improve majorly on a foam pit too so you double your lessons. i brought my brand new 700.00 skis there and they were perfectly fine. everything was fine. you will have some major fun.

I jus got back like 3 days ago and it was so sick. i learned a shitton and the coaches for skiing ramps were great and really knew what they were doing and knew hpw to moteivate you to try stuff. And throught the week we had like 2 or 3 "special guests" who were super sick and were doing so much dope stuff. Lots of dubs and dub corks and other rediculous shit and helped teach us. So yeahh id definitly recommend this place if your serious cos you can learn so much in a week and its in a super chill layedback enviorment

pretty sure its the last weekend in august and the first weekend in september...check the website www.ohiodreams.com 35 dollars...18+ for the day sessions...kiddlins shoulda signed up for camp

are you serious??? cause thats the most retarded thing ive ever heard. if thats true i just all the respect i had for ohio dreams...

understandable! The camp is for the kids....day sessions for the adults who cant attend the camp due to jobs/ real life ha.

I'm thinking about heading out on August 29th, anyone else from the Pittsburgh area/western PA interested in possibly joining me?

fuck that shit. i was working too. i can throw down just as much as hard as anyone over 18, why the hell shouldnt i be able to ride at this? i didnt go to camp because i couldnt afford it this year

The reason there aren't day sessions is cus they want to get kids who are 17 and under to come to camp. There is no profit in day sessions, and often times they lose money doing it but they want people who are older to be able to hit them too. The camp is designed to be just that, a camp, so save up and come next summer!!!
