Oh look another n00b that wants to get into filming

gonna have to agree as well, fx1's look really really digital to me, i prefer the organic look that the dvx puts out..

I was basically in your position last year, i got a sony cx110 handycam and an opteka x grip and fisheye. This was fine for me until i wanted to get a little more creative. I then purchased a 60. With your budget i would def get a handycam, but if you can drop a couple hundred more i would get a t2i, they look alot more professional with their dof but you will need to buy a couple lenses and accessories to get rigged up

I'm going to bump this, because my friends and I really should be filming this season, but none of us can afford a camera. Out of all of us I feel like I might be the only one that could possibly save up a few hundred and not blow every paycheck right away, So with this new condition, any recommendations?

you guys should each pitch in $100. Get a LONG ski pole, and a GoPro3.

That will keep you stoked all season guaranteed.

Everybody in this thread needs to get their panties out of bunch... You don't need thousands of dollars to have fun filming with a t2i that's total bullshit. You don't need 10 L lens's a slider glidecam expensive tripods battery grips 5 sd cards ect.. What's so wrong about starting out with a small dslr kit and slowly building on it as you learn? having a t2i 17-50 with fig rig would be cheap as hell and really fun too.

Damn you for boing this old shit, I msgd op with a camera offer lol..... Anyways I'm selling an hv40 with a bunch of accessories for 275.....

I have a canon hf 20 it did great for me but I have upgraded to a dslr Im trying to sell it now if your interested it has low hours and is in 9.5/10 pm me

Rather then make a whole new thread, I think my interests have sort of shifted in the direction of wanting to get into photography instead. So same budget, same use, what's the best place to start?

I'm also open to more video camera suggestions as well

So more than a year and a half later you are yet to buya camera? Wow, what with the drop in Price and the fact that you want to focus more on photography, you probably could actually go with a t2i and an ok lens for around $600, that being said, there are still a shit ton of extras you would need, but I don't know shit about photography so I'm going to keep my nose out and let others help you...

If you spend 600 on a T2i you're utterly retarded... They go for 350 or so used, now...

Only spend that much if you're also getting a lens that's worth 250 along with it.
