I know there is already threads about this I've read them all ready but I wanted an updated take. What is Ogden like? I don't mean for party scene I just mean as a place to live that is chilled out with younger adults late 20's early 30's. What's the overall vibe? And no offense to anyone but is there a large Mormin community and if so is it pushed in your face if you are not a mormin or very religious?

Ogden is pretty cool. You got Weber State which has some sick rails.

There are parts of town which are pretty ghetto. It kind of depends on

where you live in Ogden. South Ogden has a lot more 20 year olds since

they go to Weber State. As for the Mormons there is not as many as in Salt Lake or other surrounding cities. If you live by Mormons they don't try to push their religion in your face. They are very nice people. Plus they just built a indoor surfing place which is dope. Then there's the 36th Street Market and I'll leave it at that.

its a pretty fun town, the people are usually pretty chill, theres some crack addicts but that happens with any town of size, its growing like crazy which I think is cool personally, plus you have a sick shop like decade in South Ogden which always has a good vibe. which I think helps the scene.

I just got back from my utah trip and had a great time!!! We had a couple of days to check out Ogden. It was hard to figure out. We were interested in the downtown are near 25th st and I have some questions. You can tell that they are putting a lot of work into developing the area and I've read about how the mayor is trying to make it the outdoor hub or the next Boulder. We also met some young married couples who said they enjoyed living there and were kind waiting it out until is does become more built up. We are looking at real estate in the area and it is hard to tell if the area just around the historic 25th st would be to sketchy to buy in . The bunglows are super cute in that area but some of the streets seem sketchy. If they are how bad is it I don't mind living in up and coming neighborhoods and I actually like the diversity of living in areas that aren't brand new and upper middle class but I also don't want to worry about people breaking into my house. If anyone has any info on that area it would be great. We were looking at house around 23rd between Harrison and downtown area, also near 26th and Van Burean St(I think that was the name). Any info would be helpful. Thanks!!

all i know is meth flows like water in the south ogden area (picked up a friend from a rehab off the 31st exit off I-15 lots of crack, lots of meth but its completely different tahn new jersey drug areas.

walking around and being their i never fear'd for my well being BUT BUT BUT if i had a house in the area i would DEFINATELY fear for my property.

so dont worry about your bitty gettin snatched up and raped by like 5 black dudes but there are some skeezy mexi's and drug addicts in that area.

I don't know much about the town itself in terms of safety, etc. but I do know it's definitely the new center for the ski industry. If you're looking for a good industry job I'm sure you could get something pretty easily there. You should post a craig's list posting and ask people about that area. haha... that always works. or just call a Realtor.

I grew up right outside of Ogden in Huntsville and i know Ogden like the back of my hand...contrary to what everyone is saying its not even close to a cracked out city. Its not like you see drug addicts roming around. And there is no reason to be tripping about safety or anything its all chill....like that kid said...36th street market is the shit...Kim is the bomb...There isn't to much to do in Ogden if you don't have homies to chill with though.

I went up and explored ogden today to see what all the hype was about with the industry and junk. Its pretty basic up there its like a industry town, definately looks like its expanding, i didnt feel unsafe up there and it wasn't sketchy at all, South Ogden seemed pretty nice, and it look's like there is some cool stuff coming to ogden like that Salomon center with sky diving and indoor golf etc. Plus Snowbasin is a really ill place to ski, some really sick terrain up there plus the lodge is really nice, its like a pirvate golf course club house and the lift ticket price was pretty fair.

Thanks for the info. We skied Snowbasin one day while we were there and spent the other days at Powder Mountain. I love Powder Mountain, I tend to like the mountains that are a little more old school were the people are really chiiled out the lifts are slow and the lodges are a little run down. Not to mention that we were getting fresh tracks and it hadn't snowed in about 5 days. What I like about the downtown area of Ogden as opposed to south Ogden (this is just based on driving through South Ogden) is the area around 25 th st had more of an authentic feel. What I mean is the stores and restaurants seemed different and owned by small business people. I love all of the little bunglows and if 25thst really takes off we would be in walking distance to everything. When we drove through south ogden there were tons of fast food restaurants, big chain stores and all of the houses looked alike and like they were just built. There is nothing wrong with that but I like the feel of stuff being different and older even if it is alittle beat down right now.
