Shannon Schad?

Dave Crichton?

Philou ??

at IF3 in maybe 2009 or 2010 one of the questions to win a new pair of skis was 'what is Vincent Dorion doing these days'. I think the answer was carpentry.

Shannon Schad is coaching me on the Terry Peak race team in South Dakota. He runs a local construction company and has a wife and several children.

He still hits rails on occasion and is pretty cool.

Cool thread idea, interested to see who else pops up and what they're up to

I'm pretty sure I read an article that made reference to him become a pastor or he got super religious. I might be wrong though.

Ahh shit. Probably makes more sense. I feel like some old ski pro got super religious and just kind of peaced out.

Also, Mike Hattrup is getting it done:

I fucking love those videos, and the jazzy music that accompanies them.

Shame on you for forgetting Skogen Sprang.

He just got hired as the head ski coach for the US Slopestyle Team. And that's just about the best news I could of heard for both parties.

"Being around since the beginning of the sport, I know it's not much of a coached sport. It's an individual sport. I want to make sure the kids have their freedom and individuality, but I also want to be an asset and support system where I'm needed. I believe in working hard and skiing hard, but also being creative and keeping the sport at its roots." - Skogen

Living in Santa Cruz with his family. Not sure what he's doing for work but he's definitely not some spec religious dude. I think you're thinking about Jim Rippey, the snowmobiling guy who is now an intense jesus freak in Reno/Tahoe.

What ever happened to Mike Nick, or Iannick B? I still remember watching that first 360 switchup.

Pete Olenick?

YES. He's Sprang's from San Rafael, CA... the town next to where I grew up. Such a cool/super nice guy. He used to hang out at my buddy's house a lot. Glad to see he's still in the business.

Also glad to see OP mentioned Steele Spence. Literally the most humble guy I have ever met. Skied with him a few times at Snowmass (his home mountain) while his brother was dating my cousin. Incredibly nice guy. I only wish the best for him. Also, his brother, Dusty, was the most underrated, should-have-been-pro-except-for-injuries skier I've ever seen. I watched him literally gap like 15 moguls to the downside of the final mogul (i.e. gapping 20-30ft to a a 1ft landing) and ski out like he had skied a regular mogul run. To this day, it was the most impressive thing I have ever seen on skis. Honestly, even more impressive than tripples.

Well, I'll have to re-read the 40th anniversary edition of Powder because I think it was there that made mention of the OG pro the got super religious. I think it was in the section where skiers were talking about other skiers that inspired them. The person who was speaking ended theirs saying that they got to meet their inspiration and they were super weird and religious.

It might be John Tremann, a google search turns up his name being a pastor and former pro.

I'm like 99% sure Scot Schmitt is not the religious skier you're thinking of. It rings a bell, but I cannot think of the name of the pro whom you are talking about.

Nah, it's definitely not Shmidt. I wish I was at home right now just so I could scope the 40th Anniversary issue of Powder.

This for the win. Sprang's style back in the day was way ahead of his time. Sounds like he still has an awesome attitude and stoke for skiing. Great to see this.

Freeskier had a 'where are they now' for Boyd Easley: He is head of acquisitions for an investment group in CA.

Schmidt splits time between living in Santa Cruz and MT. He's a mountain ambassador for the Yellowstone Club and has a small cabin there. He's a super nice dude, I had the privilege of taking a lap with him once. Claim, I suppose.

Mike Atkinson: AFP Judge (will rep Canada on Olympic judge panel)

Shane Szocs: Livin life (closed High North a couple years back)

Philou: Last I heard was doing something in marketing with Oakley Canada

Crichton: Was Ontario Park/Pipe Team coach...

No thanks.

But by the looks of it he is getting more into backcountry and is less competitive. The only time I would ever see his name come up would be when comps were going on, he used to kill it in big air.

well he wss in jail for a while..... then he came back and was killing it in snow them feel of the radar again. curious on him too.

Andy Parry take note:

"cocaine rock, yes I was smoking crack if you prefer, Ketamine addiction, overdose, prison, trials, working on construction sites… I even did pizza deliveries at a point, so I was at the bottom"

he's a tattoo artist judging by everything he posts on facebook

and I read in a thread that evan raps went to med school
