Official Olympic Discussion: Women's Slopestyle

So far I'm liking their rails better than snowboarding. But I really hope they step this up for finals. 3, 3, 5 is not Olympic calibre. Where's sildaru to shake things up

THESE FUCKING COMMENTATORS DONT KNOW WHAT A FOUR OUT, LIP ON, OR 3 SWAP ARE sorry but it’s really not that hard

She should have made final. That was unfortunate they scored her like .2 below. They just wanted Maggie in the finals

Korean repping on3p has some serious style too

I wanted her to make finals, skied with her at big boulder a few times. If she wouldnt have knuckled the last jump i think she would have been 12.

She should have been 12 even with the knuckle I think. They put her 0.2 below Maggie, but they could have just as easily put her .2 above. That took so long for them to decide too. Their discussion definitely just came down to "who do we want to see more in the finals" and they chose Maggie.

They definitely had their calculators out to make sure they didn't accidentally put her above Maggie. My guess would be because they think Maggie has more potential to do well in finals.

Sucked to see Tess crash out because her run was pretty heavy otherwise. You know that was going to be a dub 10 at the bottom in finals too but that's how it goes. Finals should hopefully be a big step up. You could see a few of the riders were figuring out speed to try and send much bigger runs when the time comes.

gremaud with an INSANELY heavy run.. deep dub 9 with the biggest heavy head also a nice ellen on the downrail for the lgbtq+a community

Mike Atkinson redeeming the commentating. They should just have him do the whole thing. The other dude doesn't know what he's talking about.

are the judges fucking blind? that was clearly a new wave trick by maggie 7 blunt with 180 hand drag shuffle out.

Jennie-Lee best out. No poles, nollie drop in, and that tail to safety 5.

jennie lee is what slopestyle needs but doesnt deserve. i enjoyed her run so fucking much

her rails were boring, she only did a lip on blind 2.

Sarah did less interesting rails and a right 5. Maggie's run was harder but im not a judge

She only 180s off the "eagle/mustache" feature, the judges don't like that. Also some girls are throwing dubs so she can't expect to break 90 without one.

fukn nbc can show 3000 hours of figure skating but shuts down their main broadcast in the last round of a slopestyle final? can't even switch over for 15-30 min? i can believe it but its stupid

I don't post on this site that often. It's a young man's game.

That was by far and away one of the best slope contests in a while. So fun to watch. That bio 9 was damn smooth and a lead change in the last round!? Ladies throwing dubs. Outrageous. Those are the tricks we saw the likes of CR Johnson throw back in the day.

We should all give it up for the skiers throwing down on one of the cooler slope courses in a while. This has nothing to do with them being women and everything to do with skiers showing other skiers what was once thought as impossible as being totally doable. Fuck yeah, friends.

For tomorrow's men's slope, if you can access a VPN or proxy that makes your IP look Canadian (just Google one) you can probably stream the whole thing free on olympics.cbc.ca

I'll have to put a little more effort in tomorrow for sure. Not sure if my vpn provider gives me the option for Canadia.

That was an amazing slope comp. I'm absolutely blown away by the improvement of competitive park skiing in the past four years. It's not just the boost in average level of riding, but maybe more importantly, the number of fresh faces. There are so many talented girls killing in the park right now. There are a ton of relatively new girls from all over the world that have emerged that are fierce competitors with big bags of tricks, multiple rotations, and great style. I think female park skiing is at a great point right now where we will see rapid "progression" due to a critical amount of very good skiers building on the skills and abilities of their competitors.

That course is bonkers - both the jumps and the rails are huge. Congrats to all of the women charging the course. That event was a great showcase of the sport that we all love!
