I guess I'll contribute my stupid little edit I made way back in the "trying to get sponsored" days

right after EDIAS came out of course

I watched that whole thing just for the song... Also that really makes me wish I had a bike park nearby

I'm moving to Vancouver in September and I need an all mountain bike that can handle riding whistler from an intermediate/expert rider.. I'm 5'10 and 150 pounds.. recommend me bikes!! I have $1500ish to spend

Shit, when I was 15, I was still riding a rigid chromoly Raleigh M40 with 21 speed gripshift, bar ends, and cantilever brakes. Perfect age to get a job at a bike shop and spend my entire paycheck on bike parts. The good old days...

Single crown? Dual? Santa cruz bullit, banshee scythe 2012 or newer, Giant glory, I mean the list goes on. Depends how much riding at whistler you will be doing. Whistler has always made me go through parts rather quickly.

crappy shots but been building some new features in my trails that are coming out pretty sick

Ill actually probably be mostly riding Grouse with the occasional trip to whis. Ill be riding every weekend tho

I'm back in shape and I got back in the saddle a couple of weeks ago and have been feeling great.

My bike somehow fits better now than it did last season and most of my pains due to it being too small are gone.

I convinced my old man to go clip-less which means that I can ride his bike when he isn't.

I'm going up to the winter park/fraser area next weekend for the best XC trail system in Colorado IMO. The trails there are just heaven.

I am going to try to demo a Trek Stache or something with a 1x drivetrain while I'm up there, maybe even a FS bike.

SO STOKED

I've always wanted to ride that trail system. I've only been to Winter Park/Fraser twice, during ski roadtrips from MN back in high school, but I always have had a desire to go in the summer to mountain bike.

Something like 600+ miles of singletrack in the area or so? Any favorite areas to ride in your opinion? I'll hopefully make a CO/UT bike trip happen next summer. Durango is another area that I'd love to spend time on their trails.

In July I'm going to Whistler Blackcomb for vacation. I was wondering if anyone has ridden there and how the trails are.

I've never been but I can assure you you will have a good time

I really like the trails just north of Trestle Bike park, they are really condensed and have a great variety of difficulties and trail styles. Just off the top of my head, the "D" trails, Chainsaw, Creekside, and Tipperary are some that are really nice. The last time I was there I was able to ride right out of the condo to start out climbing the D trails. It was primo.

I also want to do some of the Tipperary Race Course, I only was able to do a little section of it last year because of thunderstorms.

I would highly recommend Winter Park to someone looking for a summer mountain biking trip.

they have it dialed. if you know anything about whistler you dont need to worry about the quality. but you do have to worry about braking the bank. a ticket is about 80 bucks if i remember correctly.. rental can get you too. but it's totally worth it.

Creekside is super fun. i did it on a DH bike though. I rode XC around steamboat (emerald mtn) and that was fun as fuck

I dont understand this bike. it looks like a dj but it has gears? can some explain?

that's basically it. don't have money for an extra trail bike on top of a DJ and DH so I use the Voltage for both trail riding and some jumping. Not perfect but it gets the job done.

I rode park yesterday. always fun to get a couple days a year on the lift. This is one of the fun runs. pretty easy run but every corner is a berm, all of the pumping and jumping doubles. super fun.

No pics as it was pouring this morning, but we had a nice two hour singletrack blast in the dense ferns, slick roots and mud puddles. It was nice to be covered in mud again.

How's the ohlins damper?

UNREAL. The bushing in the front mount that lets the shock move laterally makes such a difference. The rear end just sticks to the ground and feels like it seats in the rut or corner you're pushing into where you would normally be skipping around, if that makes sense

I want to get into mountain biking and have no clue where to start. I moved to Salt Lake this year and figured because Im so close to the mountains, its time to get another adrenaline pumping summer activity besides golf.

All I know is I want to do some downhill and some cool pump track type things and eventually be able to up my game to some big jumps obviously. I have no clue where to begin though and figured some fellow NS'ers could give me some beginner advice.

I would be like the gaper of the trails easily. I mean i know how to ride a bike and my experience includes me taking my hardtail Trek and jumping it off homemade 3' jumps like a cool kid. Any sort of help to get me started in the right direction as far as gear, bikes, renting for the first time, what to start on, anything, would be helpful.

go to a couple local bike shops and talk them up. get the low down on local trails. dont buy a bike at the first shop you walk into. find a shop you like and develop a relationship first. once you find a shop you like see if they rent bikes. rent some bikes you and the sales person think would be a good fit for your ability and the trails you think you want to ride. some shops will take the renting price off the price of a bike they will sell you.

finally got my hitch and rack. gonna head out for the first time tomorrow after i bleed my reverb, pumped!

Im trying to find a bike and get into mountain biking soon. I think I want a full suspension bike with around 140/150mm travel that I can use for both really technical climbing and still be able to go as fast as possible downhill. Will probably mess around with it doing pedal kicks and stuff like that to. Any recommendations? Thinking about picking up a Mongoose Slayton Expert because I found a pretty good deal on a new one, however it only having 120mm travel is a major drawback but does any of you bike guys know if its a decent idea to get the Slayton and change out the fork to a 140/150mm one??

Also considering picking one of these up to mess around with since I found a pretty good used one...

2010 Transition Bottlerocket its such a fun bike 7 inches of travel in the front and I think 6 in the back but my rims are cracked so if anyone has some slide into my DM's 718667.png

Just checked out my dad's new rf 327 n/w ring, it's crazy light. Probably lighter than the pair of stock aluminum bar ends on my grips.

I am looking for the same thing. One that was recommended to me and looks pretty awesome is the Specialized Pitch Pro.

718753.jpegThe setup for now, 2010 Yeti 575, recently went from 3x9 to 2x10. I'm hoping to get a Fox 36 and maybe a frame with a little more travel in the nearish future.

why does it have to hurt so much when you fall? only thing i hate about biking is that im almost always scared shitless haha

Seriously, my buddy is a beast on skis and as soon as he gets on a bike he turns into a quivering ball of fear (overstatement) Skiers get used to bailing in pow and sharp rocks and trees suck.

Did a couple laps of my local singletrack on a singlespeed. There's a lot of climbing. So damn fun... 10/10 would suffer again

gearing was 32x15, so nothing crazy but just enough to feel the burn on the steep stuff. My pace was only a couple minutes off normal too, so I'm stoked on that

Demoed a Santa Cruz 5010 last weekend and oh boy was it great. I was locked out most of the time I was climbing, but when I wasn't I was really surprised by how little I noticed that I was losing power to my suspension.

It had the FOX CTD and I really liked it personally, I know most people don't, but it was simple, easy to use, and quick.

As always the trails in Winter Park and Fraser were awesome. I tried some new stuff in the USFS Idlewild trails and they were great for a short ride. Would recommend
