Just trail riding usually. Camden country college has some good trails and I live five minutes from there so I’m usually there. Or Ceres. Not sure if you’ve heard of either though

I had a fantastic time, rode some really fun trails, got to demo expensive bikes I can't afford, and most importantly didn't run into any issues with people slowing me down.
 
How many of you ride with bike computers, and if you do what do you mostly use it for? Been thinking about getting a Garmin edge 520/530 or Wahoo Elemnt Bolt but not sure if it would be worth it, maybe a smaller 130 or something is good enough if the maps on the bigger computers are to bad in the woods anyways?

I ride with an Elmnt Bolt. It's great little computer. Gives you all the metrics you need and links up to strava instantly. It's great unit for sure!

Pretty infrequently. I use it mostly for trail riding/gravel/cross so maps normally dont matter. Mostly look at speed and ride time.
 
I've been thinking about doing a road trip before school starts up again this fall. I am having a hard time deciding where to go. Anyone have any ideas on where to go? Somewhere within ~10 hours from Colorado would be preferable.

Picked up the Wahoo Elmnt Bolt today and just had my first ride with it. It was nice not having to look at my phone and I found the map useful in the woods to. Considering returning it though as it was a bit disappointing that it wont show any downhill starred Strava segments which is the only segments I really care about, when using Strava on my phone I can get this up which is nice when doing the same run multiple times trying to improve. Also a bummer that it didn't show any segments on the maps which I usually use on my phone to find good trails. Anyone know if something like the Garmin 530 will show segments on the map or let you sync starred downhill segments? :)
 
Decided against racing and using strava this season. I got well too competitive last year and ended up breaking myself as I was riding well out of my ability, it also took the fun out of things in some ways.

This year I just want to enjoy my riding for what it is. I already feel like a much smoother and faster rider, now I'm focusing on technique rather than the stopwatch.
 
Suggestions on some brands that make jerseys/ shirts for trail riding? Dont want to look like a douche with a bunch of logos on it like the troy lee or 100% stuff but having a hard time finding reasonably priced shirts with basic designs. Dakine has some cool stuff I guess something along those lines

I like my ION stuff but it can be tricky to find in the U.S. assuming that's where you are. Sweet Protection stuff has nothing on it, also a lot of Specialized clothing is not super branded.

Mons Royale is my favorite for less-branded apparel, but their stuff isn't particularly cheap or super durable if you crash a lot like me.

Endura has been my go-to brand for solid outerwear. Hit up a shop and you can usually find good deals on the sale racks.

Love Mons, but they're huge MONS on nearly EVERY piece of clothing turns me off. Dakine, Club Ride, Smith makes a couple of low branded jerseys

I have a Fabric Line, Chromag Lynx and SDG Duster. All great saddles but if I had to choose one I'd take the Duster.

But yeah, everyone is different so it's tough to say for sure.
 
Best advice without actually getting a fit done is look up a video on how to measure your sit bones. Makes a difference, I used to get sciatic pain with a 135mm width saddle but went away within a week of switching to a 142mm width.

ive noticed with the Maxxis OEM tires (white logo text) that the sidewall construction isnt as 'durable' as the aftermarket carcass, that you can buy at a bike shop. i read somewhere the OEM tires are ordered in bulk and the manufacture process is faster, in order to keep up with a certain monthly order requsite. its like Samsung and their 'Galaxy' and 'A Galaxy' series phones, same models, build material but some objectives are taken for a cheaper end product ( not saying this is a bad thing, but what ive encountered with OEM tiresets)

Yep I am fully aware of that. I actually work at Fanatik Bike Co, and the tires are the first thing im swapping on that bike. I am a Schwalbe guy for life. Although I have a set of WTB Tires in their DH casing that I got through a job, so I am going to try those out first. But i'll likely end up with Dual Magic Mary's like I have on my trail bike. That MM 2.6 is the greatest tire ever.

i'll have to check out the Magic Mary for my next tire combo! cant say ive ridden schwalbe tires on any of my bikes

Oh right I remember now. Pretty cool concept of having a XC race and a DH race on the same bike. I'm going to have to look into this more for next year.

ima be in cleveland riding the trails around there during late august thru early september. probably will be around the east rim trail area cuz i live near that but down to hit other trail systems too. looking for ppl to ride with, anyone gonna be around?
 
Me and a buddy are planning to ride moab on route to salt lake in october, thinking weather will be a little cooler that time of year? Been looking on trailforks but theres so many options its tough to pick out whats good or not. Want to do the porcupine rim loop but being from new england I dont really have much experience riding stuff with crazy exposure. Would say we are both confident intermediate riders and have no shame in walking a gnar section, but obviously don't want to get in over our heads.

Recommendations on must ride trails would be much appreciated !

TWE is a good intermediate trail and there is very little exposure. I think the Aspens are turning yellow that time of year in Utah as well. Trail is fun but overrated. Make sure to hit up Milts after

You'll love Portal Trail then. Its pretty mellow, cool views and not much exposure.
 
Holy fuck downhill bikes are fun. Hero conditions in August for the inaugural ride. Heading up to Whistler on wednesday!

Any of you fine gents/ladies rebuild a fox rhythm 34 fork before? Mine's pretty beat and is seaping and gulping up air. Not psyched to pay for a rebuild or for the bike to be down for any extended amount of time.

Just wondering if it is something that can be done on a weekend or if it's best to send it out

I would recommend parking at Lion's Park, and getting a shuttle from Porcupine Shuttles or Poison Spider to do trails like Porcupine Rim. That way you can ride right back to your car. If you've never done a big ride like that, I would just do either Porcupine Rim or keep going up to UPS/Kokopelli trail. You'll have more than enough downhill than you can handle with that route.

Slick Rock is a must do for any first timer out there, Poison Spider trail is fun, the Mag 7 and Navajo Rocks trails are also fun.
