I hope this is even slightly as successful as the HV/KB thread that is going in here.

Okay title says it all. Feel free to post anything pertaining to the Catskill mountains skiing.

I'll start.

I just checked Hunter's webcams, and it looks like they started blowing snow. I grabbed their Big Lift X3 pass and hopefully they'll open black friday, as they normally try to do.

Hunter is planning on opening November 21st! I may buy their 3 day pass too depending on funds! I have some concert tickets to buy mañana so I gotta see if I have enough moola to spare. I'm also hitting up killington turkey day so I need to budget for that. So stoked for belleayre pow days later this season! Love skiing the trees there

Huntah may be packed, I'll be dere tomorrow :D

Yeah they both will be but I'm guessing belleayre not as much since hunter does so much more advertising. I just noticed yesterday belleayre was going to open. It was supposed to be Black Friday from what I saw on fb over the past few weeks and changed to Saturday

I'll be hitting up hunter on Saturday. Get some opening weekend turns in.....before it melts on Monday :-(

we were thinking belleayre Saturday or Sunday but i saw just on Facebook that snow ridge is opening with 5 trails and it's all from the lake effect snow. No man made.. And they're forecasted for another 8-12. It's going to stay cold until then and sounds like some POW! Going to get a hotel up there and get first tracks.

Hunter was pretty good, they had Hellgate and Belt Parkway open. Hellgate got skiied out by noon as per usual and the belt softened up around that time, during the morning the belt was very firm. Started snowing and they were running the guns, should be a good time this weekend! Minus the huge crowd that's going to be there lol. If anybody wants to ski monday through friday, shoot me a PM, I work weekends but I'd love to make some turns with you guys

Hunter was good today as well. Not to many people. Hellgate was skied off by noon again, but it still wasn't bad at all. Perfect bluebird day. They had a box and a rail set up at the bottom.

Quick question regarding the slopes (length, quality). Which Catskill mountain would you prefer, if ur interested just in plain cruising?

P.S. Getting back after ACL rehab, tryin to start it easy

Belleayre. Barely a terrain park there. Some really fun groomers with less crowds. Also, really fun trees on pow days

Probably not hunter if your looking for some nice mellow runs. It gets skied off pretty quick on the weekends, and tends to be icy.

Thanks a lot for the info fellas. Not really familiar with the Catskills, just noticed that Plattekill Mtn. has a lot of trails as well (not yet open). Anybody skied there?

I have noT skied there but this guy my buddy works for is always saying we should check it out. I've heard they have great tree runs and some steeps runs. Also hear the crowds are minmal compared to the other mtns on weekends. They are only open on the weekend and holiday periods. They also do this thing called Powder daze when they open the day after (if it finishes snowing wednesday morning for example they will open thursday) it snows 10" or more. I have not made one of those days yet because in the past i've usually skipped work or school the morning it snows. But, this year I would love to get into a daze...

I'm definitely going to have to go to one of those Powder Daze.

i'm going to be in killi for thursday morning and have to work friday but friday should be similar at hunter since they aren't opening right after the storm. Should be sick! But, probably PACKED

Hunter could really have a bangin rail garden right now. They should put more stuff in, set up right.

we gotta all get together and meet up and just have a NS party day at one of our local hills lol this would be the best most fun yet dangerous day ever

I'm transferring to New Paltz in the spring and was wondering which mountain has the best park and if there are any other NSers that go there that would wanna ski together/ride up together since I can't have a car my first year. I'm super friendly and will give gas $$$

anybody with updates on the current weather in the heart of the catskills update us! I am located in the foothills at around 1500' elevation and it went from freezing rain to all rain. At work in the valley now and it is def all rain. It is hard to tell what it is doing on the hunter webcam.. I am taking off tomorrow and will def shred belle or hunter tomorrow if the weather pulls thru. The east coast wet storms with heavy POW scare me.. I need to know if I should wait to weekend or ski tomorrow

I just checked the webcams and hunter is getting pounded. The reports say they might get up to 2 feet between today and tomorrow.

If anyone else wants to check hunter's webcams, here is the link.

I forgot to ask.. are you headed out tomorrow?

No not tomorrow. Things around the office are are little too pressed right now to take a day off. I will be up to hunter on saturday though. Hopefully shred some nice conditions and they are having a rail jam in the evening, which I plan on entering.

Yea I've heard Platekill is a hidden gem

Plattekill is amazing and on a pow day, 10x better. Fucking love that mountain.

Anyone know how overgrown Highmount is??????

Oh I see. Do you hike out or what's the game plan?

depends on how many people we had going. I've done it when we've had a bunch of cars down there or we'd hike out and give the bus driver a buck or two to drop us off

Hunter was pretty fun today.. Some ungroomed trails and some packed powder. They definitely had at least 9" of freshies at the top and 5" down low. The lower portions were crusty and the snow was heavy. It was rain/sleeting all morning so we got pretty wet. It was a great time though. Definitely a solid base

I just looked at all the resorts webcams this morning. It looks like all the hills got a decent amount pow overnight. Especially plattekill. Looking pretty.

So I went to Windham this sat, it was a rad day on the Mtn with a solid snow base and a magic foggy upper-mtn part. Couldn't ask for more at my first day of skiing after the rehab. Too bad they dont have full mtn open for night skiing.

Knee feels good and Im planning a trip to Belle this Sat, as Platekill doesn't look like a big area to shred yet.

Early, early rumors about a storm next weekend (sunday) so let's hope it brings the POW! I can't wait to ski some trees

From midhudson weatherbot on Fb:

The storm threat on Sunday looks significantly reduced as the storm will be much weaker than originally expected so it should remain just snow showers. Have a nice day Hudson Valley!

damn.. but reports are it is going to be a very active christmas week and end of december. Lets hope for all snow, no r***

For sure. I will be up to Hunter most likely sunday this weekend to take a few laps. It was nice as can be last saturday, Icy at the end of the day, but that is how it always is.
