Official Far Cry 3 thread

I'm stoked on it! I still play FC2 from time to time. It looks like the only downside to FC3 is no vehicles in multiplayer.
 
The game is Absolutely amazing, I've been playing it for hours on another account, I plan on uploading the next part of the so called series tonight. Also if you guys have any question feel free to ask, and same with suggestion just post them and I'll read them.

I really haven't played much of the first Far Cry or Crysis, so I cant help you on that, But so far what I've played it has a mission based gamestyle but you don't have to do the missions to have fun. There are plenty of other things in the world to do. Such as conquer the outposts which then give you more side missions to do such as hunt down a target and eliminate them with a certain weapon, and other ones where you have to actually hunt animals with/without a certain gun. The side missions are given to you buy sort of a town message board(like in borderlands). You also unlock different parts of the map by climbing the radio towers in a Assassin Creed like style and disabling the Jammer. But most fun things are mostly unlocked through missions such as access to the wing suit and other fun things. So far this game is amazing.
 
My roommate just bought it and it seems really sick so far. Definitely picking it up when I get home.
 
FC2 was one of my favorite games of all time, and this one is fucking amazing so far.

it's like skyrim but with guns and on an island.
 
Whoever the main antagonist is, I think his name is vaas or something scares the shit out of me. Idk what it is but something about him is just so freaking sketchy
 
I've never played any of the previous Far Cry games, but after watching some of the videos on Far Cry 3 over the past few months, I picked it up this morning.

Haven't played it yet, but I can't fucking wait.
 
Far Cry 2 is awesome. i just loved starting forest fires, paragliding off super high cliffs , and free roaming the map.
 
Then you will absolutely love this one, the fire spread and damage has been increased, added hang-gliders, wing suit and the map is so much bigger and gives a more adventurish feel as you can now enter caves, above and below the water. All and all, this game is one bad ass game that everyone should get.
 
Now I really want to get it. Also one thing I loved was how they added like animals to the nature. Is there still wildlife. Also do they have the feature where you can kill your teammates or choose to save them if there down? Is there like a good side story line to a bad side story line. And which side you pick pretty much's outlines what the ending is?
 
Yes! there is plenty of wildlife, and its a bigger factor of the game which is just wonderful! They now have many different uses, such as a red dead redemption style were you have to "track" (there's areas on the map showing huntings spots for the certain animal) and kill then skin the animal. With the hides you then can create different things such as pouches to allow you to hold 2-4guns, and a wallet that allows you to hold more cash, and to hold more ammo. I'm not sure about the other questions cause I'm not that far into the game but the hunting aspect is amazing.
 
now you got me all stoked on the game. Defiantly this game brings back good memories. It is for sure going on my Christmas list of wants.
 
Defintely sounds more like 2 then those other games which is epic. I blew through 2 might have to take my time with 3 and be steezy. How's the ai with stealthing around? 2 was solid but not perfect in that area though it's still my favorite game of all time
 
Dude my roommate has bo2 and it's tight but it's so cookie cutter like the rest of the cod, the far cry series are so damn open and such. New style of game play for fps's
 
FC3 I would think. You have a kinda small competitive MP but there is 4 player co-op and the single player is deep as hell for a shooter.
 
this game looks intense.. i watched the first vid and i loved skyrim, so i'm guessing i'd like thiswhat kind of missions do you do?
 
It seems like there are some fetch quests, kill this guy, visit this person type things. Kinda like Skyrim I guess, at least from what I have seen on YouTube LPs of it.
 
I've been playing for hours now, and there's a main quest line like skyrim, but this storyline is more evolved(meaning that it kinda is suggested you do the main questline). But the main quest is also not "required" to do I guess you could say but its mainly pushes you to do by allow some abilities to only be unlocked by completing certain missions. The "side-quests" are mainly unjam the radio towers which allows you to access more of the map. Another is capturing enemy outposts which then give territory on the map and also gives you side missions such as kill someone with a certain weapon, or hunt down and kill a animal with a supplied weapon. But doing quest isn't the best part of the game! Just exploring new corners of the island, testing new vehicles, getting new guns, and just plain out be stealthy/gun blazing and killing enemies. There is still so much more that i haven't covered, just get the game and you will be jaw-dropped at how much fun it is.

I know this is an old thread, but I just got the game last week for pc and could not stop playing it!It really is an amazing game, I have played both both the endings, and all i can say is wow!

The multiplayer is pretty shitty on pc though, extremely laggy...
 
I got it. Only did first couple missions. So not that much shooting can't tell if I like/love it.

I probably should have done it on easy since like FC2 shooting is a tad clunky.

Will be playing in an hour or two after I see if the fucking jets fuck me out of 600 bucks. Fags I hate fuckin sanchez.
 
Mother of god this game is sickkk played 8 straight hours today. Outposts undetected is the shit. I have the illest all stealth arsenal setup
 
I'm really on the edge about buying this game. I've been checking it out and it looks cool, but maybe I need to wait for a price drop or something
 
I returned it.

I thought the shooting/driving controls weren't good enough too clunky like FC 2 I needed to play on easy to not get murked left and right and not have to die 10 times before I beat a part of it. And like Far Cry 2 you have to like huge maps like GTA every mission is 5-10 minutes away from where the last one ended driving/walking across the map.

I got DISHONORED when I returned it. Its awesome.

FC 3 isn't awful though if you want a shooter that is like GTA with a big map and stuff its a cool game.
 
I'm thinking about picking this up but had a quick question. Is there anything to do once you finish the game, or once you finish the story mode is the game just over? The game looks really sick but I want to be able to continue to roam around once I'm done with the story and kill people/generally fuck shit up like in games like Grand Theft Auto.
 
you can continue to fsu after you complete the game. The multiplayer is fun for maybe the first and second time you play it but after that it sucks because it's so laggy (for pc).
 
Definately alot of shit to do.

And even after you have liberated every outpost, killed off every pirate, burnt down every village and hunted every last boar, you still have multiplayer which is alot of fun on xbox as well as co-op.

Everybody should get this game, phenomenal.
 
you get more xp if you take down outposts and stuff undetected and by disabling alarms, i'd say if you play it on hard and go for the max xp for every outpost and complete every side mission you're looking at like 50 hours of gameplay or something like that. if you're trying to race through the game guns blazing you can beat it much quicker but you can make it tight if you want to
 
Just beat it, took me about 7 days, (21 hours of gameplay) to beat everything i.e. every mission, rakyat trial, hunter, wanted dead etc and I took my time, captured every outpost undetected, topped every trial list and it was on warrior which isn't that tough. Highly recommend. time to see if the multiplayer is half decent
 
wow im disappointed. ive logged about 150 hours in skyrim and haven't beat everything. none the less i already bought the game and will enjoy it.
 
I watched all 3 episodes and i think keep the intro. the keeping deaths or not thing is up to you because i think its fine either way
 
i played it for about 20 minutes on the weekend and didn't really enjoy it

but then again 15 minutes of that were spent playing a level my friend made which was just for trying to shoot all the bears before they ate you.
