sup yall. theres an official thread for everything it seams. so who else likes to toss some discs, and javs, along with some brews. quite the fun activity.

so recently ive been playing a bit of disc golf. building up a nice quiver of discs.

what are your guys's favorite courses? discs? all that jazz

personally my #1 is boulder's course right next to fairview high just because i play it like 2x a week. ive played at johnny roberts in denver and that was a lot of fun.

back home in dc the courses blow. #TreesEverywhere

Also I am going to make a huge claim and say there is a rediculously sick course going in somewhere in south central

I love my destroyer, comet and aviar. And there are a ton of courses around where i live, a few hold pdga tourneys

I play as much as I can in the greater Seattle area, my friend lives across the street from a course north of Seattle so I am over there throwing at least once a week. Before that, I played courses all over southern Minnesota.

I throw Innova discs almost exclusively and prefer my Star Wraith, KC Pro Roc, and JK Aviar over most other discs.

Hopefully I will be getting enough practice in this summer to try out a tournament or two for the first time.

Threads for potential future discussions.

Ha some buddies and I got into Frisbee golf (lol u mad already) and its a blast, I only have one disc, all I know about it is its super floppy, thusly nicknamed The Flop. It kicks ass. Disc golf is fun as blazes. I'm new here

we have an 18 hole coarse here with large bell baskets it's really fun and all the holes are like 200 feet to 800ft my best score on it so far is only 6+ but I just played a different 18 hole and scored 2+ gettin better, i love frolf

There are no real course where I live but every time I travel somewhere I bring my discs. The discs I use the most are Orc, Beast, Buzz and Avair.

utahs got some pretty dank courses, solitude's is by far the best where you play down a ski run from top to bottom, with the last hole being 1200 feet straight down

gunna go ahead and claim my 23 under record (tie) at my course with an albatross on the 18.

my buddy and I set it at the same time to win the tournament.

/claim

but that was 3 years ago now... havent played since :(

yeah just replaced my champion groove after loosing it...

i also got a valkyrie as my mid range and a dart as my putter.

Used to play a ton, but havent got around to it lately.

In other news, I have a champion Aviar... you guys jelly?

For some reason I throw my Star Boss better than a Champion Boss. Awesome disc but needs a lot of power and speed to fly predictably.

While I only use the Star plastics for my high speed drivers due to it's increased durability and faster break in period. I find the Star plastics do not have enough grip, or a tacky enough surface for finesse shots and putting.

I also have a Star Aviar, but once I switched to the JK Aviar, I will never go back. I highly recommend trying out the JK Aviar if you can find one. They are about $10 online. They are basically the same Aviar shape and rim profile with a much softer, rubbery feel that really allows you much more control than I was ever able to get out of the Star Aviar.

oh for surei'm a pretty big dude and i send my discs with a mighty force that is bewildering to most....

aka

I chuck the shit out of my discs....

For ghetto baskets, I've seen people prop up hula hoops, or make "rings" with sticks to have an actual "basket" to putt at.

You could buy the "starter packs" that you can find in major sports stores like Sports Authority, or whatever you have around you. They run around $25 or so for 3 discs, driver/midrange/putter but are generally the cheapest plastic the company makes. While this may not be a deal breaker for some, it's good to know what you are getting.

Otherwise, you can purchase any disc online from a variety of stores like:

www.gottagogottathrow.com - very legit, I purchase my stuff here if I don't buy from the local shop

www.clearwaterdiscgolfstore.com

www.discgolfcenter.com

If you have any friends that play, borrow a few discs and find out what works best for you. Each disc is rated specifically for the power it requires to fly properly, how it will glide, fade, and turn. Simply put, they are all different.

Otherwise, check out the manufacturer's websites for better ideas on how each disc will work, and you can select a disc that seems appropriate and then purchase online. It also helps to get an understanding of the plastic types, as they do change the feel and flight of the discs, but most importantly the price.

The 2 main disc manufacturers:

www.innovadiscs.com

www.discraft.com

I'm gonna go ahead and bump this. Does anybody else have a PDGA membership here? I played 5 tournaments this year and my rating is 908.
