Official College Acceptance Thread '10

Alright so I know there was a thread about this last year so I searchbarred to see if there was one for this year and didn't find anything so I thought I'd start it up. My bad if there is already one.

Just got my first one from UVM today. Pretty excited.

Who else got in where?

when did you send your app in to uvm? i sent mine early october and am still waiting to hear back

Now I'm super excited, I sent it in on Halloween, I should get a letter soon.

Man, I'm so ready to hear some good news.

im thinkin' bout going to drexel, what do you think of the area/whats your gpa and all that good stuff (if youre comfortable sharing)?

you should apply to temple university too. they are looking around a 3.0-3.3 gpa. i almost went to temple originally. philly seems like a really cool town. temple is in a very rough neighborhood but its supposed to be a good school. i might look into it for grad school. i believe drexel is closer to upenn in a better part of town.

got into all 5 of mine, Ohio University, Kent State, U of C (cinci), Edinboro PA, Bowling green state university.

didnt get into daap at cinci if anybody knows what that is, the graphics design version of harvard law.

i applied to drexel for the hell of it cause i got a VIP thing so i was able to apply for free. although i heard its pretty sketchy around drexel

got into utah and basically got into westminster cause they offered me a bunch of scholarships and told me i just need to apply.

waiting on gonzaga and washington.

Got in to University of Utah a few weeks ago.
Probably the only place I'm applying, I'm going to visit and make sure I love it this weekend.

Got into UM, EWU, SNC, and still waiting on like 5 california schools that are probs going to take their sweet ass fuckin time.

lol. I applied to the same three.

and one other instate incase out of state doesnt work, but that would take a lot of bullshit.

I got into Northern Arizona U, waiting on the other three.

Its not a matter of getting in for me, but more what scholarships i get.

I got into U of Portland with a $56,000 scholarship. Should hear back from Seattle, Denver and Boulder soon

I am also waiting for McGill UBC and UW.

sweet congrats on the scholarship to portland. i just applied there yesterday it's lookin pretty sick.

I just barely applied a bunch of places, but most likely going to either

University of Utah or Westminster College.

Why do Americans refer to any post - secondary institution as "college"?

When I hear college, I automatically think of a lower level education. However, I've noticed that you guys have named some pretty big, div 1 schools under the category of 'college'?

In America, I believe the difference between "colleges" and "universities" is that universities has separate colleges within them - for example, they have the College of Arts & Sciences, the College of Engineering, Business, etc. - whereas "colleges" are usually smaller schools that aren't divided up, they just have different majors (business major, engineering major)

I don't know though, what I told you could be complete bullshit.

Im not doubting you, but I just find it funny that every graphic design major I know all think that their school is the equivalent to Harvard.

Anyone who applied to UVM, tell me your name. I have my work study job at the admissions office and I send out your acceptance letters. I can look out for your names. they are flying out like crazy right now. I forgot what her name was, but I opened na application from some girl who was a good freestyle skier. From the east coast, lots of competition results. I was wondering if she was on here.

in the US, college is the term for anything after highschool. we pretty much never say "yeah i'm going to uni next year."

most people in the US do 4 years in college (same this as "university" for canadians), but some people do 2 years in community college (same thing as "college" for canadians) then finish their degree at another school.

in summation US college = canadian university and US community college = canadian college

got into:MSUWestern state college of co
and i applied early decision to Champlain so im waiting to hear from them..

I dont lock my doors when I park my car near drexel. I dont drive my car anywere near Temple. Temple is in one of the poorest, and ghettoest neighborhoods in all of america.

american colleges are soooooo expensive! in the UK they recently started making us pay to go£3125 per year (i believe about $6000) how much does it cost you guys?

Just got into Montana State University. I hear back from UVM and DU sometime next week. I hear back from CU Boulder and UNH early January. I applied rolling to CSU so I don't know when I hear back from them.
