i know a ton of kids love blink like i do. so much time i spent just jamming air drums in my room when i was younger. i still do it now and i still love the music. post up some of your favorite blink songs and let's all get a bit nostalgic.

haha. oh god I saw the title of this thread and facepalmed so hard. Actually this website has enough ten year old kids that this might just take off. Jesus fuck blink...the only talented musician in the band is travis and he does the drums for kid shows. seriously what the fuck?

This post better not fail...

Blink-182,

Been a die hard since the age of 6/ the greatest band of all time/soundtrack to my childhood and existence in general/ music that got me through all the shit in my life/ my idols and the reason I play music/ the object of the best day of my life/ many many more things than this, but I can't think of them right now...

Words can not describe my love and unhealthy obession(maybe those words) for these 3 men.(especially tom)

And I assume this is the way the rest of NS feels about the Wu-Tang clan or something(I like hip-hop too)

For NS

I'm counting down the day's 'till epicenter(sep. 26th) when I see them live again.

also to OP this is a solid site for blink news etc: www.182online.com

and to dude above, Instrumental talent is waaaaaaaayyy overrated, songwriting talent, these dudes have by the bucket load, 2003-present at least. Not to say they weren't still the best band around before that.

anyhow, glad to see somebody else on NS loves blink

Like I said before, Instrumental talent is overrated, no, actually he does not.

He drums for, The Rza, CuDi, Lupe, etc.

i love blink 182. i'll always listen to them. i just like their style so i will listen to almost any song. haven't a lot lately, but +1 to the thread.

i think nowadays liking blink should be something you do, but never brag to anyone about, or even tell them really

i say how it is, liked their shit when i was 12 or so. still listen to it occasionally, but not too often. just happy poppunk, nothing serious

im 22 and i can say loud and clear that this is my favorite band by far ! back in the days these guys were just detroying!!!! i still listen to their songs

i like four year strong and other unknown pop punk bands more

every single person in the band is overrated

travis is good but not that good

my drummer's probably better he just needs to get stronger

blink is incredible. every time i listen to them it is like a nostalgia attack. i saw them live a year ago and it was absolutely incredible. blink 182 WAS my childhood, and for that, i love them. and this thread.

I FUCKING LOVE BLINK-182. they're the greatest mainstream punk band of all time imo. and one of the few artists that i can listen to ANY of thier CD's all the way through.

Blink was the first band that i really got into. Tavis was the reason i started playing drums so ill add this.

The dude is a beast.

Being able to rip scales is one thing, and i agree that mark and tom are not the most technical musicians but they had the originality that it takes to make it big, which is debatable more important than having technical skill.

Blink was the band that really set off the pop punk style of music. They were the original and imo still the face of pop punk, they have influenced new music since the 90's and are still doing so. They have multiple gold records and Enema of the State went platinum.

So my question to you is, what the fuck?

Your drummer is not better, and four year strong is overrated.

Transit, title fight, balance and composure, tigers jaw, man overboard, and the wonder years are all better and all more unknown.

this

i definitely respect him for going as far as he's gone but he's not doing anything new

nothing he's done has been creative

my drummer tho will come up with something in 13/8 on the spot and it will be dope as hell

when travis can do something other than a 4/4 beat i'll rethink my statements

chill. do you have a fucking pet drummer? i will chop off my own weiner if "your" drummer is better than travis barker.

Wow, really? 13/8? Complicated time signatures are for pussies trying to compensate for their lack of good sound. It's one thing to be good at drumming, but it's 10x harder to SOUND good drumming. What does he play? What music does he play?

Im 18, and i can proudly say that blink 182 has always been, and will continue to be far and away my favorite band. They pretty much were my childhood as far as music goes. After all the years i finally got a chance to see them live and it was easily the best show i have been too. I always used to listen to The Mark, Tom, and Travis show and wish i was there. Screw the haters, they missed out on a dope band.

Lol wut? I agree the claim factor is getting hit up a little bit but really? Using different time signatures is part of music. Yes there are people who try and use different beats to sound better, but for the most part people with a solid knowledge of beats and an ability to flow in and out of different time sigs smoothly are actually better.

You dont hear music in 13/8 in pop punk buddy. Travis studied jazz drumming at Texas U and was the lead snare in the drum line. He has ridiculous chops, perfect time, and his licks are tech, on point, and original. go back and listen to his solo, listen to how clear every note is produced.

Also, you dont hear what travis plays off stage like you do in your basement with your buddy. Comparing musicians from different genres makes no sense. And think about how many kids he has "brought to the sport" as we say around here.
