i always see one of these for big mountain, but never big sky. so i figured i would start one. we open on thursday. i cant freakin wait.

That means i get to partake in both of the "official" threads.

But yes i'll be skiing big sky. unfortunately not until after thanksgiving break.

anyone know why the website is down and has been down for like a week?

i believe swifty, exploder, and the triple are for sure. i keep hearing rumors about challenger, but it looks bony still, so im not banking on it

^explorer?

JEA SON I AM SO EXCITED.

YEEEEEE

anyone know if their havin any rails setup?

or something like that?

just yell

"how do you get to chads gap from the bottom of alta" and all ns'rs will rise!

the mtn. manager told me they were planning on swifty, explorer, triple, and challenger... but like someone above said, it looks real rocky. so i'm thinkin just the other ones.
as far as jibbing goes... i'm personally going to be hitting up great divide, opening weekend. at least the wildwood setup and a few other features will be available. i doubt big sky will have much...

challenger is going to be open too.. haha come visit me i will be working the poopy explorer lift!! on sunday

anybody hear anything more about what they're going to have setup fri-sun night next to the tube park as far as jib's or jumps? probably going to resemble the beginner park by explorer?
oh, and is anyone else extremely disappointed that the alpine is GONE...

I'd go, but I can't justify $53 to ski early season at Big Sky. Maybe I'll be up at Beehive or in the north Bridgers somewhere.

ill be there starting the weekend after opening weekend. im goin home for this weekend for thanksgiving so thats a no go.

but yeah sounds like there will be SOME sort of park setup. idk what

WIll it be worth paying the $38? I want to go way bad but not if its just weak groomers. Any idea on park set up?

If last year is any indication, I believe they had 2 or 3 boxes at the bottom. Assuming they will have at least this setup, it would definitely be hikeable from the village. So if all you want to do is hit some boxes, you could probably do it for free (based on last year).

down right tragic, that is. where am i supposed to play shuffleboard when i'm done skiing? that was the cheapest place to drink in the base area, by far. guess i'll be hitting up the bambu alot more now.

went skiing today on my breaks. it sucked soooooo much balls......but that was only on the lower runs,.. the higher ones are a tid bit better......i pretty much fucked myself over on a pretty big rock patch that i cudnt see for sum reason. and now my knees are going to be paying for it the rest of the season....bleh

here is the latest, official word. apparently no triple or challenger, which is pretty damn dissapointing.

Hello everyone,

We are proud to be the first resort in Montana to open for skiing, congratulations everyone for making it happen! We’ve had some challenges with weather and temps, but our investment in snowmaking has ensured we will be skiing.

For tomorrow, we will open Swiftcurrent, Explorer and the 3 base area lifts. We’ll have access to Mr. K, Mr. Ed and the base area.

The early season rate will be $39 for adults, $34 for juniors/college, $36 for seniors and Frequent Sky card and passholders from other MT ski areas will save $5.

As more snow flies, we’ll open more terrain. The rate will adjust with lift openings.

no shit... if they do set up anything, hopefully you can just hike to it from the base. granted. i have a pass. but for those who do wish to go up but do not wish to pay... there will hopefully be some boxes or something that you can hike to

I don't think wild wood will be open for this weekend... Just meadow and some features below. I really hope it is though, it will be an easy hike for sure though if there's snow. 4 or 5 features, yay for small rials!

oh really? well fuck -- maybe i will hit big sky after all.
for those of you who went up/are going up to big sky today, let us know how it is. hopefully you guys had some fun. oh, and happy thanksgiving.

the boxes were decent

the rails were rly rly fun

three boxes

two flat bars

flat bars were the funnest

the jumps onto the boxes rly sucked

hell yah, thats good to hear you guys had some fun up there.
hope everyone had a good thanksgiving. see you on the hill this weekend.

i heard (from a friend who talked to pope) that wildwood would be up, and a box, a down rail, and the dfd rail would be set up

but don't take my word

i dont know if any of you are going to GD's opening tomorrow... but if you are, it's gonna be fucking sick. helped pope set up all their jibs and then got to session a couple rails. definitely a way better setup than big sky has right now.

Sick man, I sessioned a little step down all day today at Showdown and Im heading over to GD tomorrow with 6 other people.

its dumping in bs right now. needs to keep coming so some more terrain can open up. i can only lap mr k for so long

ya soo much snow falling right now....big fatty flakes.....rumor is they were starting up the triplie chair possibly gettin it started soon....and a few more runs opening....but those are just rumors

i was soo bummed i had to work all day....i missed a great day of snow! i only got to do like 4 runs :( dang

yah, the bowl wasn't too shabby... anybody know how much snow we got this evening up in big sky? it dumped in bozeman! headin' up in the morning, hopefully we got abuncha snow

3 or 4 i would say? mebbe a little more. it looks like its stopped now but it was supposed to go till 11 so mebbe itll start up again

damn, not living up in big sky is a bummer, because their website is a joke, and i never know how much snow has really accumulated up there. any of you big sky locals know the inch amount from this last storm? i have class in the afternoon but i am planning on coming up early to make some fresh tracks.

coverage is not bad at all. there are definitely alot of rocks showing, but they are all well marked, and there are good lines you can get without hitting any rocks at all.as far as snow total for this current storm, its gotta be around maybe 10 inches by now. that would be my guess anyways..

siiiiick i cant wait till sunday. but i really kind of hope it doesnt snow on saturday, cuz the thought of trying to do an avvy class while its dumping up on bridger is NOT fun sounding.

epic day today... had to duck ropes a bunch towards the end of the day to get some fresh... but holy hell today definitely filled the void of powder i've been craving from last season...
