Official 2016-2017 Gear Rumor Thread

We have the Black Ops in shop and ready for sale at Slope Style in Breck. They're also on our website, link is in my signature!

I got a month's worth of skiing them last winter (in epic conditions and shit conditions), they're definitely a tank in terms of weight but once you get it up to speed it'll blast through anything. Obviously amazing powder performance as well. I'll be on them on deeper days again this coming winter for sure, even chopped up/crud days as well.

oops sorry to be misleading but I think that may be an in store only ski. But give us a call if you're wanting to snag them or just inquire about them, only two pairs for sale!

Paulownia core and a beefy glass package so they don't ski like shit. They're def fucking light for their size. I can weigh a couple today, I can't remember off the top of my head how much the are

Logan, is ar8 really that much different than PC?

fosho, its just weird to me how low little it has been marketed. weve been seeing prototypes of the ski for over 2 years now and the only thing rossi has done to even tease that they might release it was starting to post the #rossignolblackops hashtag. im assuming they're gonna sell them at some point, but it seems like there's really no timeline as to when consumers like me can actually purchase them.

here are a couple pic's of some Black Op's next to some RD's. Stoked.

The Black Op's are not symmetrical but depending on where you measure the tip and tail would say within 4-5 mm maybe up to 7 mm diff again depending on where. At any rate sweet dimensions with the waist coming in at about 117.5 to 118. They are heavier than the RD's and honestly do not know if there is metal in these bad boys. The flex is pretty with the tip feeling more punchy for stability in chop while the tail is more buttery for nice turn finish etc...anyway that's my take.

They looks sweet - what's the rocker profile like?

rep showed me a pair over the weekend and it looks like subtle camber underfoot with tip/tail rocker and a tapered sidecut tip/tail. medium flex, not too stiff. just wondering if they are practical for the east coast haha because I want a pair!

Honestly I'd say no :/ as badass as they are. Their main focus is deep pow and charging hard.

yeah, thats what I'm thinking. even at the pro price (which is insane, and comes with a pivot 14), I'm struggling to justify the $$. if I knew I was going out west this season for a4-5 day trip, plus whatever fresh snow days we get here in NE, they could be worth it, if only for that exclusive-ness haha

Oh I totally understand where your coming from. I just bought the Armada JJ zero but only because I knew I'd get the use outta it. The exclusiveness is one of the reasons I got it so I get it. But practicality sometimes has to win over exclusiveness unfortunately

no for sure. I already the latest edition (and last) of the volkl gotama for 'pow' days, salomon rocker2 100s for all men, and ill prob get the new volkl kink for park/groomers. But the Black Ops looks fucking awesome in person. it os totally one of those shut up and take my money situations.

plus if i really needed a big mtn charger i would prob go with the Super 7 HD (RD is too manly haha)

Second the request for a rocker/camber profile shot.

I got them at the beginning of the 14-15 season. That was the last season they made them, as they replaced them with the Volkl 100Eight (they also killed the Bridge that year). Twin tips are a tougher sell for manufacturers and retailers, so they dropped them and replaced with more market friendly options...

Yeah, it sucks. In the east it is a sad reality, but i try to make sure that we order at least some twins, because there is still a market out there for them...
