VAN vs LAK

PHI vs BOS

Although you can never count the wings out...
 
montreal needed an enforcer or power forward, espicially with some of your D out for the season...but noo we got a goalie..
 
I hope the sharks meet up with the kings in the playoffs. That will be one for the ages.
That said, I have a feeling they wont go further than 2 rounds, but predictions at this point are stupid...

sports radio here brought up some "tumor" rumor, its starting to get laughable at this point.

Sit him till next year then let him come back next season, whatever happens will happen at that point. At least that is what i would do haaaaa
 
not at all. I have several other posts in this thread. I'm just asserting my belief that Crosby has offensive skill, probably the best, but Players like Ovi are much more well rounded because of their defensive/hitting skill. And you can't deny that he has every one of the refs whistles up his ass.

now let's change the subject to injuries. What team do you think has the biggest disadvantage in the NHL because of injuries? There's the Rangers missing about 8 players and crosby/malkin for example.
 
what are you even talking about? "players like ovi"....are you kidding me? ovechkin doesn't play any defense at all. he hits and that's great and i love watching him play because that's part of his game (though he takes runs at guys) but his game isn't even close to as "well rounded" as crosby's. do you even watch hockey? i can't tell if you're a flyers or caps fan...

if you're going to do that and make comparisons about better "well rounded" players, at least cite guys like zetterburg, datsyuk, the sedins, toews, etc...

there's the kopitars, ovechkins, malkins, and stamkos' of the world who dazzle with skill and scoring and are great in their own way and then there are the crosbys. completely different type of player.

that said, i think crosby had a bit of an attitude coming into the league but since has curbed that and earned the respect of most, if not all of the league. he's a superstar, and he's at the center of everything, so when he gets calls or complains it's magnified 10fold.

consider this:

he's played in 41 games this season and has more penalty minutes than richards, both sedins, st. louis, zetty, toews, nash and only 8 less than ovechkin. and those guys have all played at least 15 more games than crosby, most of them 20-something more. it goes both ways, when you're the center of it all, you're the center of it all.

so i think he's just a superstar, and there's people like you who are going to find any reason to criticize and hate on him and that's what happens when you're the best and that's fine. part of the fun. /rant.

 
So the day is over and i would say Florida did OK, got rid of alot of players and picked up lots of picks and a few prospects, definite rebuild and i think Tallon will do a good job. I just don't agree with the Allen trade, why you would trade him away to get Samsonov is beyond me.

Now my Canucks, nothing major but i like what they did. Picking up Lapierre gives us a good 4th line centre as long as they get him to buy into the Canucks systems and not take stupid penalites after the whistle and cost us, ie. follow what Kesler, Burrows and Bieksa have done this year. Not really surprised at the Lapierre deal, the Higgins deal did a little. Happy with it though, gives us some more depth and allows us to change up our lines if players are struggling *cough* Raymond *cough* He can play either with Kesler on the 2nd or slot onto the 3rd as well.

LA overpayed so much for Penner, don't know what they were thinking, he's decent, but not nearly as good as what they paid for. He'll help the team a little but it doesn't make them a legitimate contender in my mind. Second round at best for them.

Now with this day done and gone, we are that much closer to the playoffs......GETTIN EXCITED !!!

When I watch "The Great 8" play, I feel like I am watching peewee's again. With some jackass kid standing still on the red line smashing theirs sticks yelling "PUCK PUCK PUCK".

Anyone that has played defense at some point, knows exactly what I am talking about. You probably wanted to punch him in the teeth once on the bench. I have no idea why a Caps D man hasn't done this already.

Dude can bull rush/snipe goals all day, but his D is a joke..even on a youth hockey level.
 
florida really came out on top after the deadline just because they got rid of mccabe. i swear anytime he is outside the offensive zone, he starts playing like a fuckin kid in house league. worst d-man in the league. i hate that mother fucker and i'm gonna keep bashing on him as long as he's in the show lol
 
okay, I watch a LOT of hockey. Even played. And no. I'm not either of those fans. I'm a Ranger fan who watches most games and knows the history.
 
the NS hockey and nhl 11 are my only ties to hockey at this point. although i'd like to get more into it. this thread is my only source right now for hockey news haha.

My goals for the rest of the season:

1. Canucks win president trohpy and have home-ice advantage througout the playoffs

2. The leafs get 9th place, just missing the playoffs and getting the worse draft pick for not making the playoffs.

they will probably stay in 10th imo, considering Buffalo got better and i feel Carolina can hold of the leafs, still i hope they make a push and make it interesting.

even if they do make it by some obscure reasoning they will lose in 4 to philly, im sorry but thats the way the cards will fall, they are nowhere close to contending at all

We dont have a first round pick this year, boston has it. So they need to finish as high as possible to avoid giving them another high pick.

Kessel is too fucking nice as of late.

haha it will be close. Id be stoked if they made it, but either way now that I live in bc ill be going to canucks games anyway. So not like i dont have a good team on my side hahah.
 
habs are out in the first round of the playoffs any way. they have no depth right now. the only way they'd have a chance is to hope for 1-0 wins with carey price stealing the show, but i doubt that'll be the case with his lack of defensive defenseman there to help out. don't get me wrong, i'd like to see the habs do well, as im only a 2 hour drive from mtl and it's a great excuse to party, but everyone steps up their game in the playoffs and realistically the habs can't rely on like three forwards and a goalie to win a series. that said, it's the exact same position the leafs are in right now, only they're a little worse on the whole. three forwards (macarthur/grabovski/kulemin) and reimer are all they've got. well, the the streaky kessel, but they'll be easy to shut down with a good defensive pair and reimer can't keep up his stellar play forever..

 
Gillies/Islanders..I dont even know what to say...I am starting to think they actually LIKE being the butthole of the nhl. What a joke.

and to the guy whos said the leafs dont have a first round pick, didnt they get one in the kaberle trade?
 
Yeah Toronto got a first round pick in both the Kaberle and Versteeg trade but those aren't determined by how Toronto did.

Unless the pick Toronto got from Boston, was the one they traded to them for Kessel, but i have no idea.

so i think whereever philly and boston finish most likely 1-2 in the east so toronto will get 2 late first round picks

your probably fucking right, devils record in the last 20+ plus games is beast mode. Lets say NJ vs Philly...and some people would hardly be calling NJ the underdog. Tides go in tides go out....1st vs 8th.. YOU CANT EXPLAIN THAT! The east is a slop hole. I am fucking pumped.

PS. I love rogers sports net haa. I now officially hate all American broadcasts.

Anyone else watch the NHL and trying to stop paying cable companies? Its fucking butch with blackouts/game center live/roku etc....but I am getting by. Just seeing if anyone else might have tips/tricks to it.
