By some bull shit math I did the leafs need to go approx 14-5-1 to make playoffs. At their recent pace, its doable. I just hate getting my hopes up. Carolina is not going to be an easy team to toss out of 8th seed.

btw. for any leaf fans. Trade rumours say burke is looking to dump the 2 first round picks for a solid d, and apparently is saying that a top 2 centerman can "wait until July 1st".

I'd like to see those 2 picks shipped out for bogosian or something. Or maybe liles and a prospect.

Next couple days are going to be really interesting. The trade deadline means so much more when your team is shit year after year.

again, just a rumor for now. but the source i got it from is pretty reliable. also, it would make sense given the fact that there is NOTHING coming out of his camp at all.

Good bruins game tonight. Lucic goal to make it 2-1 was overall excellent play. Timmy basically kept them in it all night.

Pens are struggling to just maintain a playoff spot this year, with the Leafs who could possibly also be fighting for that 8th spot with them

Those 2 points will be huge in little over a month. Also massive confidence boost to a team full of AHL'ers who have just won 2 games in the past three weeks.

You thought it was a good game? i finally got to watch a Canucks game and i found it so uneventful, kind of expected it though since it is Boston.

The whole Vancouver just looked off to me, passes weren't clicking and their PP was garbage. Van has really been mediocre over the last 10 games or so, and still no1 can catch them, as long as they pick it up for the playoffs we'll be god.

You thought Lucic's goal was an excellent play? it was just terrible defensive zone coverage by Vancouver leaving 2 bruins in front of the net with only 1 defenseman their to cover them. Same could be said for Boston's first goal, Raymond just failed to check his man in front, even if u can't take the body cause of your size at least stick check him.

I thought both goalies played reasonably well, there wasn't really too many highlight reel goals for either side but both made some nice saves
 
yea it was a bit uneventful, but there were a bunch of opportunities for either side to take the lead which i thought made it a bit more entertaining.

I meant more the run in to lucic's goal. Getting the puck up through the defense was good work by...can't remember at the moment. The actual goal itself was pretty simple due to the lack of defense.
 
Dear god tell me about it. Horrible passing all around by the flyers. Almost painful to watch. Turnover after turnover. As good as we are I just can't have confidence in the flyers, we just look to inconsistant all the time. Doesn't help that we don't really have a solid goalie, not a single shutout all season really??

Now I gotta wait til thursday for a game, son of a bitch.

I doubt it, too. the more and more i think about it the more i think it just doesn't make sense.

my only point is that it's strange to hear something like that from someone who has no business making that up and would have definitely heard it somewhere from someone close to the situation. i don't fucking know though, people talk.

having said that, that quote has nothing to do with it. like Klazo implied, they don't like talking about it and are obviously going to say those types of things. the less info, the better. they know if they started to say anything negative or that could be interpreted as him being done for the season (or longer) the shitstorm would be absurd and distract the team

Say what you will about Crosby (I like to talk shit about him too) but before his injury he was one of the hardest working players in the league.

well here in mtl, if the habs score 5 goals you get 8 free wings at la cage aux sports, which is a popular restaurant chain here. i dont think shootout goals count though, but whats sick is that you dont have to be at the game, it applies to EVERYONE. like if you're watching the game at one of the restaurants or at the bell centre when it happens, they give you a coupon for the free wings that are valid starting the next day, and if you're just at home you can go on their website after the 5th goal and download a coupon

I'm really not surprised by it... It's not like theres any big names left up for grabs right now... Florida's already firesold everyone, and Edmonton doesnt look to be moving Hemsky. With the parity in the bottom end of each conference, everyone's looking to be buyers rather than sellers. There are only about 4 or 5 teams that can even be noted as legitimate sellers at this point, as the top 12 spots in the west all have playoff potential, and the top 10 or 11 spots in the east (plus New Jersey, who's been playing lights out and still thinks they have a chance for some reason) all have the ability to make the playoffs as well...
Any year that TORONTO of all teams might make the playoffs, you know there's parity in this league.
 
Dustin Penner from Edmonton to LA for a 1st, conditional 2nd, and top prospect Colten Teubert.
Pretty big news. Ouch, too... Penner's a strong player and LA can afford him in the long run... That gives them the physical power forward they need to match up on the left side of Handzus and Simmons or Stoll and Brown, which is probably why they waived Marco Sturm, who's definitely not that physical.
This makes them far more dangerous, and I'm sure Penner's goin to be super psyched to return to a strong Southern California club...


 
So who won the deadline? I'm going to go with "no one". Maybe the Panthers, I guess, in that they got rid of pretty much everyone which apparently was their goal. Maybe the Capitals, Wideman and Arnott will help them... but losing centre depth and a pick, I dunno.
 
I thought edmonton got a great return on Penner. A real deal prospect, 1st round in 2011, and likely a 3rd rounder. Perfect for a club thats rebuilding. Edmonton will have a cup by 2016. They're the new Pittsburg Penguins.
 
Trust me I can't deny his talent. The kids got skills! Offensively that is. He can't hit or be defensive. He also sways the refs so much that its actually obvious. Not to mention being a crybaby...
 
St. Louis's biggest trade was getting rid of Boyes and I think they were undercompensated for him. Oilers deal was good for them although Teubert isn't as good as everyone thought he was at one point. I'm not sold on him. Canucks pick up Higgins and Lapierre, look solid in the bottom 6 for the playoffs -

Jovanovski is out for probably the whole season with an orbital bone injury... I wouldnt count him into anything right now.
Theyre still solid without him, but they lose a LOT of what they could do with him on IR.
 
you're an idiot. just because he's not on the PK or a defensive forward doesn't mean he can't "be defensive". he's great on the backcheck, steals pucks, and works harder on every shift than any other player on the ice.

 
dont worry, he has already proven he only wants to take about Crosby, nothing else NHL. Kinda creeper/stalkerish if you ask me
 
trade deadline was pretty boring was sitting watching tradecentre and fell asleep.

and at isles games you get free chili from wendys if they score 3 goals. blah, never stop and get it if they score 3 goals. if it was pizza id be down with that.
