Official 2010/2011 NHL Thread

slashes to the back of the leg? like Hansens on Krejci right before he scored. Haha the sedins were flopping all over the place and exaggereating it every time they got touched. And the puch in the back of the head was dirty... in response to a dirty slash by burrows on thomas awhile after he had frozen the puck.

Sigh... once again silly americans don't know hockey. That was neither lateral nor blind side. Horton was admiring his pass. It was a late hit, and not by much, either. Anyway someone asked "who saw that coming"... a b's win in game 3? Lots of people. A loss is a loss. I can't fault Lou on the goals that mattered (at 4 0 it was meaningless) but would need to see them again. Some high points; we looked good in the first and the 3rd and 4th lines were good again. Actually so were Higgins and Raymond, but they had no finish. Bieksa looks lost without Hamhuis... Wonder if he plays game 3, or Ballard. Sedins need to stop diving and focus on creating offense. Our pp is our biggest problem right now. Ehrhoff was awful in this game, worst player on the ice. How the Canucks respond in game 3 will show a lot. They need to go high on thomas, higgins gets 2 breakaways and shoots 5 hole twice, whack. The reffing was again generally bad and the game management pathetic. I don't think horton will play judging from what I'm hearing. Rome shouldn't be suspended but in an nhl that doles out the discipline based solely on results, he will be. Stream of consciousness done for now.

once again, hitting a player with their head down =/= blindside hit to the head. it was a north/south hit, the blindside hit to the head rule applies strictly to east/west hits in the NHL. on top of that Aaron Romes shoulder initially made contact with Horton's shoulder, the follow through made contact with the head. That is not a hit to the head. Aaron Rome did not even take any strides towards Horton, he stopped and braced for the hit, Horton took 2 quick strides and accelerated into Rome.

Watch the slomo replay, it was 2 for interference, you're fucking stupid if you think otherwise.

late hits have been happening all series long, as a player you have to look out for yourself. it is a shame that horton is hurt, but keep your head up and this is avoided.

and you'd say the same thing if it was a ferrence hit on kesler, right?
rome's a nobody, and when you do something like that to one of their teams top players, you can hardly play the 'well i was just making a good hockey play' card. was it blatantly dirty? no. was there intent to injure? yes. that's not a hard check, that's an 'OOPS I JUST KNOCKED YOUR HEAD AFTER THE PLAY LOL SORRY'

Thank you for posting that video.

For it show's everyone that you are completely fucking retarded.

See people, that's what happens when your mom and dad are brother and sister.

oops lucic just punched burrows in the back of the head multiple times after the whistle, its cool though, burrows didnt leave on a stretcher so no call right?

oops eager just nailed sedin from behind after the play, its cool though, sedin didnt go to the hospital, 2 minutes seems fair.

etc, etc

if horton didnt get hurt rome would have gotten 2 minutes. simple as that.

Romes a nobody? he has only been one of our most consistent Dmen these playoffs, don't believe he has had a - game, and rarely makes a mistake.

There was no intent to injure, if there was he coulda thrown his elbow, instead he used his SHOULDER and didn't even hit Horton in the head. Horton's injury is mainly coming from his head hitting the ice not the hit itself.

people get hurt on clean hits all the time, does nobody realize this? fuck i feel like im talking to a brick wall.

horton got injured, refs deemed it as a dirty hit to the head, he got 5 mins and a game misconduct, whining about it doesnt change shit.

that might the dumbest comment i have read tonight. So you are saying its impossible to get hurt on a clean play? and all dirty plays result in injuries?

was tonight the first hockey game you've ever watched? god i think im losing brain cells just reading people's post on here.

This thread has gone downhill so fast, used to actually have intelligent conversation now its just bandwagoners that for the most part know nothing about what they are spewing.

This is a really stupid comment yo. Clean hits don't lead to injury? Had it happened immediately after the pass he'd still be out like a light. Scott Stevens special, basically.

what he means to say is that IN THAT SITUATION if the hit wasnt late and to his head, horton wouldnt have gotten injured

im just saying the fact that his feet came off the ground suggests that he was doing more than "just bracing for the hit"

the fuck does that have to do with anything?
You know its a dirty hit when bar_down is adamantly defending a bruins player...literally everyone in the league has acknowledged it being dirty with intent to injure EXCEPT bone head vanc fans

He was hitting the guy as hard as he could, basically. But if your feet leave the ice after contact it's not charging.

you have never played hockey have you?

watch closely, half of the hits tonight players skates left the ice as they followed through. when you're putting all of your weight into another player and they fall down, it puts you off balance...

ive loved this thread all year long.

All the rounds before the finals were pretty awesome. chirp there, chirp here. For some reason once the finals came out, everyone went dumb

If i see one more wanna be fan, they need to peace out.

Yeah he would. a shoulder to the head isn't even illegal, first of all, and he'd still be in the hospital no matter where that hit was delivered. You geniuses just seem to think every hit that ends in injury is automatically dirty. Someone tell that to Paul Kariya.

notice the pattern yet?

if anything remotely close to a dirty/blind/whatever you get the point hit is shown to the untrained eyes of some of the people here. They're tears flood the gates and demand justice for their team's bandwagon

horton literally accelerated into rome. im not even being biased when i say that, just watch the replay. and dont listen to pierre macguire, hes stupider than most of the people in this thread.

He was actually making sure the pass got to his teammate, as is custom in hockey. He was just turning his head back when Rome hit him.

That being said, it wasn't a dirty hit. I think Rome knew what he was doing, and it was late. Should be one game.

God damn that was brutal....Still waiting for the Canucks to show up. I don't even know how they are winning this series. Hate the stupid Garden Gnome SedinsHate Luongo
but yeah...
Go Canucks Go!

late? yes. dirty? depends who you ask. but you have to be joking dude, theres no way you can argue that he just "braced for the hit." he turned, took a step and was obviously targeting the upper body (i.e. shoulders, neck, head). watch the replay again, rome is CLEARLY the only one on the ice with no intention of continuing play, that's why he should be suspended for a game. the sheer lameness of the hit is what compels me to call for suspension, i just don't see how you can watch the slow mo replay, see rome fucking turn and jump into horton, and just shrug it off as interference.

he actually didnt even take a step, he stopped and leaned in. watch the video i posted and you can see that. im shrugging it off as interference because that's what it was. 5 and a game was overkill, chara didnt get a suspension for his major interference during the season, rome shouldnt either.

but the league hates vancouver so i wouldnt doubt a suspension, remember the torres hit on eberle? similar deal, just catching someone with their head down on a north/south hit and he got 4 games.

yes, its a conspiracy.

oh yeah i want that explained too. if players cant hit a goalie in their crease? why can a goalie get away with hitting a player? bit of a double standard...

what, when thomas went for the hit, sedin had the puck in his glove. you just expect him to sit there patiently while Sedin drops the puck in his crease and taps it in?

and I think the fact that the player has the puck, makes it okay to hit him. goalies aren't usually playing the puck when they get ran.

Goalie is typically stationary, and looking at the puck, not who's trying to blindside them.
Plus, if you could just tee off on the goalie, then just send in 2 guys to remove him from the crease, and you have what's basically an empty net... so it's there from a safety and ethics standpoint.

you can hit the goaltender if he plays the puck outside of the face off circles as well... though you as a hockey god who knows everything surely knows this right?

Oh... and for the Rome hit...
Nucks fans who said McGinn deserved 5 and a game missconduct when he tagged Rome in game 3 last series, and then claim the hit on Horton shouldnt have even deserved a 5 - you are downright hypocrits.
Late. as. fuck.

no later then stevens. keep your fucking head up and take some concrete pills. has anyone here ever even played hockey before?
