Ok, im a getting annoyed with all of these threads asking how to make a summer set-up. So, im going to take my time and compile all the info i know.

Carpet

- The best carpet to use for a set-up would be indoor-outdoor carpet. It is almost exactly like turf, and is sold at Home Depot for a reasonable price.

Snow

- To have snow with your set-ups, contact your local ice skating rinks, and arrange to pick up some ice shavings from the zamboni.

Box Topsheets

- The top of the line matterial for topsheets is lexan. It is pretty expensive and is also sold at Home Depot.

- Another topsheet, that is slightly lower in price is high density polyethelyne (hdpe).

Rails

- The cheapest way to make a rail is with PVC piping. It is pretty cheap, and is sold at pretty mcuh any hardware store.

- For more quality, you can contact a welder to make a rail for you, which would be a lot nicer and less work for you.

- If you have a lot of money, you can buy a rail online. Sites such as http://www.bluejrails.com/ and http://straightlinerails.com/ sell rails, but are extremly high priced.

Drop in

- For a drop in it need to very tall and sturdy. It can be home-made or just use a slide or something with a good incline.

- Some examples are:

Plans

- No one can really tell you how to make a rail you just have to do it. Make what you want and how you want. I would suggest making your rail or box longer than 10 ft, bc any shorter is a waste.

- Here are some examples of rails i found around ns:

For any other questions or ideas you can join the Build-A-Jib 101 cult.

Now stop making new threads!

cool, but for the indoor outdoor carpet just use astro turf and this thread is a good idea instead of a million other ones

im the kid in the red, its snowcase's setup. and i was thinking about this before, what would happen if you took an old iron to plastic fiber carpet, so it burned, would that make you go any faster, it seems like it would make the carpet more like dryslope

This shit head stole my icon, i made it myself so he can't claim that he found it online, It really pisses me off

would 4 inches wide be too small for me for a rail. (im just starting rails this summer, well i want to) I'm thinking 4 inches wide by 10 feet long.

Ahh tnx guys. could you also use wood as top layer. I found something which I think u can slide pretty good on.

i just made a 20ft long, foot high rail with 6in wide lexan/ wat would be the best height for a drop in ramp or any other suggestions for speed, im planning on using astro turf

Great thanks for taking all the stuff on a single thread, it will definately help me to build another rail and drop-in for this summer......

btw, this should DEFINATELY be made sticky

are you talking about my set up? thats not where its going to be. it weighs hundreds of pounds so dweez and i could only carry it from the garage to there. in the other thread by dweez you can see our drop in in the middle picture. i cut a trail last summer about 40ft wide and a few hundred feet long into my woods for a set up of some kind

i think the problem me and snowcase will be having is too much speed. our roll in is about 6 feet high, and very steep where we set it up.

there is a good material for sliding that is like wood, i can't remeber the name but it is often used on decks and walkways, like at my house

woah. noone get in his way, hes got it all planned out.

isnt it funny erich, how all of the stuff that we make that turns out good, is largely on accident?

holly fuck cry me a river u stupid pussy...this guy even made a thread about how i used his fuckin icon and he wont shutup, that doesnt have anything to do wit this thread even

plus the 1st guy that posted a pic of his set up with the 2 boxes thats such a sick set up props

i got a question:

i never set anything up in the summer and im just wondering ho wlong snow from an ice rink would last on around an 80 degree day. is it worth driving 20 minutes to an ice rink to get the snow?

turf will last longer, and you wont need to drive 20 minutes everytime you want to use your set-up...... snow in 80 degrees, wont last long

when i built my drop in i made it like two parts so it could fit in a pickup truck, like imagine a trangle for the down part and a rectangle for the top, flat part. how do u transport the kind with just the flat, down sheet of ply attached to the rectangular peice? or is it detachable???
