Ode to the east.... for those with no snow......

To all the small hillers without uber snowmaking or cold temps.....

How far would you drive for your first day back on the snow?

And to all the VT people, do you think this weekend would be worth a 6 hour drive from buffalo? For a 1 day of skiing?

there are like 7 resorts in NC..they were all opened over the thanksgiving break for 5 days..mine and 6 others are closed but one is open about an hour from my house, so id say an hour.

Ehhh.. I wouldn't. I'm from Buffalo, and with the weather, we'll have skiing the weekend following this upcoming weekend.

If we get hammered with Lake Effect snow this saturday we might hike HV or KB to get some turns in.

Basically, my attitude is the conditions in Vermont aren't good enough to spend the money for this weekend, when there will be local skiing in a few days after.

if i had some free weekend time and someone to drive with i'd go to VT- like 8 hours, cause theres little chance of snow here in southern ontario- supposed to be going up to 17 degrees C on thurs!?! WTF! (sorry no translation for all you americans that only speak F)

i was gunna drive like 6 hours to go to sunday river but i couldnt and this weekend im driving about an hour and a half

if flying counts i flew to copper last week, that took like 8 hours

i drove 3 hours to make one run and hike rails for like 6 hours. if i had the choice i would have rather taken runs all day but my lack of edges didn't allow that. still well worth the trip... but only 6 hours from buffalo to VT? i think you're looking at something more like 8 aren't you?

depends where you go..... you can make it to syracuse in 2.... albany area in another 2 and then it just depends on your destination from there so another 1.5 for like a mount snow... 2-2.5 for killy

i'd have to drive like 20 some hours to get anywhere. i live in indiana. luckily i got a hill 10 min from my house when it gets cold

about 5 hours
