Occult Themes in Music

Inverted crucifix and pentagram pretty prevalent

Epsom salt in a summoning circle

Sybolism of three and death concept.

So what do you think of this trend in music NS?

This is just misused pagan symbols, chances are none of these artists have a fucking clue where these symbols are coming from.Witch house is where the really raw shit is, Nicolas Jaar is the man. So many other artists doing this kind of stuff too, but most of them are fairly unknown. In the end it almost all stems from neopagan religions like Wicca, which developed during the 60s and 70s and was hugely underground until recently. Summoning circles and pentagrams are prevalent in Wicca, and the christian cross is simply representative of the four elements, coming from the celtic cross, which is an aspect of pagan religions.

In the end its not an occult theme - because the symbols are being misused, and if they are referencing Wicca, it wouldn't be occult, because Wicca is not occult in any way. Its a misinterpretation of the witch mythology.

But in this case I'd say they're trying to use the symbols to represent an anti-authoritarian viewpoint, and a sort of dark, underground vibe.

Yeah, it definitely is. Kind of lame IMO.I feel like its the same thing that happened due to black metal - some people with some controversial ideas made music, expressed ideas with it, and then it got taken out of context and kids started becoming satanists, which was entirely not the point of the music. I feel like a lot of people simply don't understand where these ideas are coming from and are misinterpreting the whole thing.

Asap does it because he knows its controversial stuff. Same with Tyler. And that's why i like black scale. Its just out there
