Obama openly supports gay marraige

Didn't read the thread, but anyone who doesn't see that this is 100% a political move, is fooling themselves.

Hey guys, Obama's stance on gay marriage could obviously have a huge effect on our daily lives considering that marriage is a STATE LEVEL ISSUE. This country is full of fucking idiots, pick someone who will do the right job, not because of their stance on marriage.

It's a move to energize the youth vote. 62% of those under the age of 30 support gay marriage rights. This is the demographic that all too frequently does not turn out on voting day. By alienating no one but those who would not have voted for him anyways, Obama stands to energize a critical component of his campaign strategy.

The ONLY risk there was is in alienating religious blacks who oppose gay marriage quite vehemently, but that demographic goes some 90% for Obama anyways.

Additionally, Obama making a clear positioning allows him some more latitude in making call-outs on Romney's gay marriage record.

Still not gonna vote for the guy but at least it's something.

The fact that there's even a debate about this whole thing makes me sad. Fuck ignorant bigots.

did quebec raise an army? declare independence and kick the red coats back across the pond... le no... but back on to topic.

I still don't understand why there is even a debate over legalization of gay marriage, people who are against it only use the bible as evidence that it should be illegal, which is bullshit. By allowing gay marriage, you aren't denying protesters of gay marriage their right to practice religion, but you are denying people's rights by not legalizing it.

When I start my own country, marriage will be defined as a guy choosing whom he wants to marry, as many times as he wants, male or female, and he can have as many husbands and or wives as he wants at one time

TRUCKERS MOVE AMERICA

i don't want to drag this out but I hope you realize that people in america didn't just wake up one day and write the declaration of independence. There was a lot of demonstrating and bullshit before that. how about le boston tea party? If something like that happened today people would say oh look at those liberal fucks who want welfare and handouts for their god damn tea.

Yes I do realize, and while my previous comments were rather silly, I found her comments on threads directly involving U.S. politics rather superfluous and inane. Where as I also found the demonstrations in Quebec superfluous and inane, thus my direct correlation between the two.

Any other questions?

This. Harper's government is setting us right back into the policies that got us into the '08 recession. The cost of education is reaching ludicrous levels, so much that it is impossible for youth in the province to be able to finance their own education without being sucked in by the rampant student lending. In fact, interest rates are set at lows right now so that the bank of Canada can suck people back into student (and all kinds of) debt regardless of the fact that they won't be able to repay it. Again, the deficit will climb and Harper will need to fund welfare programs to deal with the unemployed that graduated with a neuroscience degree but can't find a job because there is no demand. What about the pensions? A massive chunk of the population is entering seniority, it is the largest and fastest growing population in the world. What about grandmas' social security, her healthcare, or her housing? Where the fuck are we going to get the money for that? Taxes, but Harper just spent the past 3 years cutting them drastically. So we are going to borrow from the Chinese and emerging markets to get our budget going which will exacerbate the national deficit. Its happening all over the world. Senior citizens in spain are hanging around cafes to get the food scraps after people are done eating. Harper's plan is short term, he's worse than bush. I'm not even going to get into environmental issues, pulling out of Kyoto was just the beginning.

Even if these students do manage to finish their degree there are no jobs. Neuroscience graduates are delivering fucking pizzas. Nurses and doctors are waiting tables at the local cafe. This is happening all over the world. We are all fucked, and it's our parents fault. Mitt Romney doesn't care about you. He doesn't give a shit whether or not you die in the streets, just like his dog when he strapped it, kennel and all, onto the roof of his car before he went on a road trip.

Our generation has the right to be downright livid. Now more than ever should we need to be demanding more of our government in order to clean up the shit storm our parents caused. I support the Quebec protestors.

A Riot is the voice of the unheard. - MLK jr.

if you think society owes you a job because you have a degree, you're way out of line.

it's the same old 'i want a career, not a job' that i hear from these entitled monsters our society has created

That is not at all what I am saying. In fact, I am opposed to the number of students that are entering universities right now. It would be much more beneficial if out generation could just pick up a vocational skill, something that can actually benefit society. But no, we all were raised with an unrelenting sense of entitlement, as if we have a right to live like our parents did in the 60's and 70's.

The birth of the entire global financial crisis started at a grassroots level, its the cultural and societal values that are out of whack with the needs of society as a collective. Today's view of civil service, public duty, and empathy are so twisted and diluted. Its pathetic.

Look up your facts. A lot of those states have serious stipulations like only allowing it if one of the partners cannot reproduce or if they get genetic counseling. Just saying, you can't say that they really have legalized it, because there are regulations/etc. Not saying gay marriage should be illegal.

Also, Obama flip flopping will not help him, and if you honestly think that a politician just happens to change his mind when he's desperate for more votes, you're ignorant. If only America had some sense, RON PAUL.

.Actually never mind, fuck that shit. I'm not done.

If you really think about it, education and seeking a "degree" has become almost purely utilitarian, people go to Uni because its "practical". In other words, no one understands the true value of it. The nobility of pursuing knowledge and intellect has been forgotten. There was a time when an electrical engineer major could be found taking, lets say, Spanish literature, because he had the opportunity.

Jobs are meant to satisfy the soul just as much as they are meant to contribute to society.

It all falls back on social values, and the entitlement that we as a generation feel. The world is in for a rough ride for the next 20-40 years.

I seriously dare anyone to disagree with me. No matter where you live a TBTF TNC has partly or completely robbed your country of it's democracy. And all you want to do is lay back and let it happen? I understand that most of us skiers come from relatively well-off family situation, and have extensive financial safety nets, so this whole fiasco can lack tangibility or reliability (I was simply fortunate enough to have an overqualified Irish high school economics teacher). Regardless, shame on you for trying to demonize the Quebecois protestors.

As far as the discussion on obama's support of gay marriage, he isn't making a very smart campaign move. He's going to loose some important swing states no doubt, which could potentially cost him the election if the new statement doesn't excite the voters enough and bring in the much needed fresh support.

He's got balls for stepping up and making such a statement (one which means a lot for me personally), but now is definitely NOT the time to gamble with his campaign, because with the poles pretty much at 1:1 against Romney, it could result in a full scale debacle.

But economics and politics is boring so who cares. Lets go do cocaine and sell some mortgages baby!! OH YEAH, THE GOOD LIFE!

Explain how Ron Paul's fiscal policy will help the American people.

Try.

I fucking dare you.

Do it.

Now.

It will help the hard working American people that this country originally contained. He'd cut a lot of publicly funded benefit programs. You may cry, OH NO!! NOT THE POOR PEOPLE! Well first off, our goverment is capitalist, in a capitalist system, they will HAVE NO PROBLEM making money if they worked hard to get out of this financial situation they're in. My grandfather did it, immigrated from Slovakia to the US in the 40's. Worked in a fucking leather factory saving every penny and put my dad through Brown and Carnagie Mellon. If a person who could barely speak english can do it, then so can almost anyone. Now if you don't even believe that argument. Paul want's to cut the dumbest of all dumb benefit programs, like free cell phones. (don't even get me started on that) These cuts will benefit the hard working americans getting raped by our government in taxes to pay for people who exploit the system, and frankly don't want to get a job. I'm fucking 16 and I got hired, I can't imagine a 40 year old could have any trouble getting a job right now if he wants to.

Also, you can disagree with my argument, but you must agree that was a respectful and reasonable argument.

Obamas just trying to distract people from the economy, which is still shitty. I feel I have social liberal views and economic conservative views. If you look at obamas record, he just doesn't deserve a second term.

First page was on topic, second page talks about canadian vs. american origins, the economic crisis, college education and joblessness, and worst of all, ron paul. Get it together people.

There are more people than jobs. If everyone that "doesn't want a job" changed their mind and started looking for one, how exactly would all their hard work get the employed? You can continue to preach about personal responsibility until you're red in the face but it does nothing to change this. Without some sort of safety net for people a paycheck away from homelessness and financial ruin, what will happen to them?

Maybe the government shouldn't be giving out free cell phones but I don't think that is an issue that anyone is concerned about.

Oh, and good luck putting your child through Brown and Carnegie Mellon working at a leather factory, I'm sure that fairy tale helps you sleep safe and sound.

Threads like this make me love Canada even more. I still hope that bigot Romney doesn't get in though can only lead to bad things for us.

i am now going to post this in every single shitstorm thread that comes up
