NZ ns'ers... consider this my audition (more POV)

Comin south of the equator this season but am flyin solo. unfortunately that isn't the way to ski big lines and what not. So i guess this is my way of finding people who are around my level (still not great but love hucking my meat) to drop cliffs and what not. I'm sure you all have plenty of friends but why not gain some karma and show a new guy around yea? beverages always included in the deal
my comp cant handle all that much HD so I had to trim her downand i'm not all that into dubstep, but...http://vimeo.com/10885679
I'm going to be in christchurch probably skiing temple basin and cragieburn the most unless someone has reason for me to go somewhere else that i don't know about. hoping for a helipark day or two as well...

Damn. I want to ski where you've been skiing. and i envy you and your trip to NZ. Are those the Mavens that your riding in the video?

most of that is from colorado. Real bad snow year eh? just have to work a little harder. mostly berthoud pass, east vail, and a couple hut trips. places have been gettin "dumped" (colorado dumps) on all year.

Judging by that you are going to have a sick time at Craigieburn. Also try broken river which is right beside Craigieburn. Also a sick field.

sick edit i want to hit that double stage but what if you fell and let go of your pole? where would it go? no where if you had your pole straps on

SVillin, don't wear your pole straps in the backcountry. If it slides that thing will pull on your pole basket and then your going down with it. little food for thought. otherwise yes, if you wear your pole straps your going to have a good time

clay, that was some sick shit man. you're gonna have to show me a few of those spots (east vail especially) when you're back. fun getting down on the citadel this weekend!

i embedI also like long walks on the beach from Clay Roehner on Vimeo.

Epic video. Don't expect to find such incredible snow conditions very often in NZ, but if anywhere it will be around the club fields in Canterbury. I am a big advocate of Temple Basin, scored it pretty good there for week last year, here is a little blog post with video about it.

sadly my helmet cam was outta battery for the best two days, but we scored big time pow those two days(relatively speaking for NZ).

I will be based in the south island this season, but mainly around wanaka. Am really keen to hit the club fields for at least a week at some point. I know a patroler at Cragieburn that would be stoked to ski with you as well. If you want more info about club fields hit me up and i could prob get you in touch with that patroler at Cragie

ahhh that double line that you hit was soooo sick...wish you would've turned your head so we could see the line

bump for me getting all excited to ship out in a month or so...
also here is a new flavor of the edit for those who cant dig on the dubstep

a big thanks to all who have given advice and possible hookups
Quick question:If i'm based in christchurch, looking to ski temple, other clubbies/resort, as well as general gnar, what pass should I be looking into? somebody mentioned a chill pass...also looking for backcountry partners based out of christchurch as well
Thanks and enjoy

tight!

If you're ever in interior BC, let me know. you look like someone who's fun to ski with.

Chill pass for sure. Gives you access to all the clubbies. I want to try make it up there a few times this winter.

fuck man, i'm sorry i can't help you on your search for a BC partner for NZ, but props on that edit. fucking 2stagers out tha wazooo sonn. that got me so stoked on skiing again and summer just started!

I'm gonna be at Whakapapa on the north island. Same situation as you. Heard the weather sucks most of the time, but the good days can be real sick.

yea I dont trust the adhesive mounts at all (for pretty good reason) so I just use the headlamp style fixture that comes off pretty easy. any suggestions would be helpful, besides "buy the chest mount" dam thing is $40

one last bump because I'm leaving on Tuesday.
I know that conditions aren't quite stable or good out there but has anybody been shredding backcountry? looking for touring partners. Pray for snow brothers
