Fuuuck that's so scary. I have a friend there and thankfully she's ok, but she hasn't been able to get a hold of her grandma and flatmates yet. Aghhh I hope they're all ok.

Shit, that death toll is bad news. I really hope it doesn't climb any higher. Thoughts are with those affected.

Pretty intense. Was there in the weekend and it looked like things were just getting back to some semblance of normality after the last one. Felt all of the big shocks 300+ km away in Dunedin. Can only imagine how bad it is in Christchurch. Luckily all my close family and friends are ok

I didn't hear anything about this and I watched 3 hours of news tonight and I check google news multiple times a day. Yet they're able to report that it's going to snow in the northeast. In February...

Scary stuff. Prayers for everyone with family over there, hope they're alright.I'm living in Dunedin and we didn't feel anything, but I was in Christchurch last week...woah

The 5 story building a block away from my work collapsed and people are still trapped. The street I was walking down at the time got hit so hard. I'll upload some photos from my phone of soem of the buildings.

Couple of phone pics I took as I walked home from work.

This is a 15ish story bank with a full glass facade which I was in front of when it struck. No glass left on the bottom floor.

Probably Christchurchs biggest landmark, the Cathedral. Now Irrepairable. Very sad.

A bar in town. The photo cuts out the top story which is totally gone.

Quite and old, refurbished restaurant in town. That large I beam that is on the road was put in after the first earthquake to help protect against aftershocks.

Building just down the road from where I work. buildings with this sort of damage are very common around Christchurch now. I saw over 35 with this much damage on my way home. I'm sure there are many more.

Jesus man, those pictures are insane, thank you for posting them. I couldn't imagine seeing that level of devastation to familiar landmarks and places.

Really sucks for Christchurch to be hit by this quake after the previous one struck last year.

Yup, bit surprising when you go to take a piss at the urinal and a fuckin huge earthquake happens. Scary Shit.

Christchurch is stuffed.

Luckily my family is ok, but my heart goes out to all the family who lost loved ones.

Only good thing I can see is no school for another 2 weeks.

I gotta lot of friends in NZ after doing a couple of seasons down there. So I hope their all ok.

+vibes to anyone affected by this and my heartfelt condolences to those unlucky ones who have lost someone close to them.

KIA KAHA! my kiwi brothers and sisters.

I was there for the Sep 2010 one. Was freaky, woke up in the middle of the night as I was like "why is my bed trying to escape from underneath me?".

Hope Christchurch recovers from this.

yeah i picked up a while ago that you were from nz and was wondering whether you'd be able to post any details. hope you're all able to cope with it. pics look shocking.

wow that's awful, thoughts and prayers to those affected

i'm heading into christchurch in july, was hoping to see a few things and this has made me sad :(

Shit is bad.
No bullshit. I work at a pizza place in the CBD in Wellington and made some pizzas for an order to the prime ministers office last night. Yeah it's a small country.

+ vibes to all kiwis.

A lot of my friends were there for the 7.2 in september. Crazy stuff, apparently a lot of the buildings were still unstable from the other one why there was such intense devastation.

those images tell a million words..

currently there are 103 people confirmed dead (confirmed means are now in the morgue) and there are still over 200 people missing, with no one being pulled alive from the rubble in the last 2 days, so expect that death count to go up hugely
