NSers into astronomy?

A Meade telescope that my dad bought a while ago is just sitting in my house, and I'm gonna start using it. We used it a lot when I was younger but got frustrated with light pollution. Now that I can drive I can go places where it's darker and astronomy seems really interesting to me. Anybody on NS into it? The telescope I have is an 8" Meade LX200GPS.

yup. I also have a meade 8 inch schmidt-cassegrain scope. older model, no computers or anything just the drive. It's sick.

conscious cosmology for sure +k

no equations just experience=dafuqqqqqqq

if you have a background in cosmology could you share any interesting thoughts? i try not to waste life wondering about the unknown but i can't lol.

I mean cosmology is so incredibly broad. Could you give me a specific topic? I could probably go pretty in depth. After all, cosmology=everything in the universe.

that is sick that you have a tele man. My friend has a telescope and if there is nothing to do we get seriously stoned go out and look at the sky trying to find galaxies and planets, and of course check out the moon. A while back I heard that betelgeuse is supposed to super nova in the near future and I hope that it is during my life time because it will look like we have two suns just like star wars.

for sure i have a hard time believing that there is a creator for the simple fact that i don't know what created the creator....

but it is more believable than a single particle(higgs boson) being responsible for everything because of cause and effect....i know physicists try to prove effect without a cause, what's your personal opinion?

i guess i mostly wonder about the consciousness part.....if consciousness is not made of particles then how can it change reality when interacted with the physical world? some physicists don't even believe in the existence of consciousness lol. i have tried psychedelics but wow do you have a personal belief or are you sitting on the fence?

I never said conscious cosmology. I just said cosmology. However, I believe that there is an extremely (and I do mean EXTREMELY) small chance that there is a creator. I believe there is a certain probability for everything. I do not believe in a creator, but I recognize that it is, is a tiny way, a possibility.

When physicists call the higgs a "god particle" they do not mean it created the universe. They mean it is a major link which explains how much of the universe works. Without its existence, we really have no way of explaining how the universe came to be the way it did and is.

I don't remember how, but it has been proven that the affect and actually cause its own cause if that makes any sense.

Consciousness is tricky. When you said it affects things in the physical world, I disagree. However, your consciousness can cause the physical aspects of your body to do something which affects the physical world. In essence, I guess that a cause doesn't necessarily need to have mass.

thank you. you're right, technically consciousness creates parallels, i just can't figure out how some renowned physicists don't believe in the existence of consiousness haha.

Yeah like I said it's very tricky, because what the fuck is a thought? How can it exist without it being a physical thing?

if we live in an effect without cause universe we should all just commit suicide. i really dont understand why some jackass scientists are attacking causality. its like attacking gr

a thought is a large amount of neurons modeling reality through their own complex structure.

consciousness is a sliding scale. ie your dog is somewhat conscious, although not at the level that humans are. there is no all or nothing definition of conciousness.

people who think humans are special think that there is some sort of magic behind consciousness, when all that makes the human brain as amazing as it is is extreme extreme complexity. the complexity is so extreme you have retarded scientists trying to find some simple understanding of it, and when they cant they conclude that human consciousness is magic.

you got any artist renderings done from the perspective of being surface of another world looking into the sky at a really close orbiting moon or moons and nearby stars? i love those.

also, i highly recommend buying the nat geo video FOR ALL MANKIND and watching its apollo mission footage and spacewalks on a big tv....preferably with a bowl in hand... just the idea of actually being in space looking back at where you actually live is just priceless
