NS, Whats your job?

just got my enrolment ceremony into the Army and ill be working Reserves, hopefully starting this summer, if not, starting in september. pretty stoked for it
 
Summer camp counselor by day, lifeguard/swim instructor in the evenings, and barista on the weekends. Full time much?
 
ski instructor during the winter, broke during the summer. ive dropped off resumes everywhere and no one ever calls back :/ i really need a job lol
 
i kind of have mixed feelings about it. sometimes sitting at a desk bores the fucking shit out of me, but it pays really well and I'm pretty damn good at it. the only reason i chose this as a career was because I never really had to study and i knew i could make a good living doing it.
i've pretty much done it all. i've worked governmental accounting. i currently work in the private sector doing corporate accounting/tax, but this also involves quite a bit of audit work as well. (thanks sox) i do personal taxes on the side during tax season, and run the books for a few businesses on the side.
 
Lifeguard. except i'm stuck inside for two weeks guarding swim lessons for 5 hours a day, five days a week. little to none as far as human interaction goes. and no tan
 
ahh that's pretty awesome. the reason i ask is that i'm currently studying corporate finance and accounting, only going to be a sophomore, but i really enjoy it. it's not so much that i have a passion for accounting or finance, i'm not sure anyone can, but i really like working with numbers (especially ones with a dollar sign next to them) and i like knowing where my money is and how businesses function financially.
 
Uggg I know EXACTLY what you mean... so boring. The pool I work at is like 86 degrees all the time and I have to guard lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays... I've definitely fallen asleep a few times. Thankfully I teach lessons on Fridays and I'm in the water so I'm not like dying of heat, but I'm glad I'm a camp counselor during the day so I get to spend time outside.
 
working on a project for Casella Waste in Vermont for the summer. Basically drive to all the locations in VT and take a photograpgh of every employee for the new website. I start tomorrow, should be fun time exploring around VT, plus they pay for food/gas and I can schedule and log my own hours.

but for now im an industrial electrician, working mad hours, currently on my 3rd week straight of 12 hour days living away from home in a construction camp. I get 3 weekends off all summer
 
if you want to pursue a career in this line of work i would highly recommend going to grad school once you finish undergrad. it'll make finding a job a heck of a lot easier once the time comes and you won't have to start at the bottom of the food chain.
 
yeah i've been thinking grad school essentially since i was a junior in high school and started looking at schools. ideally, i'd like to find a job that will pay for me to go to grad school, but we'll see how that goes. Ernst and Young, KPMG, PWC, and Deloitte pretty much prey on our grads, and our placement rate a month prior to graduation is something like 95%. basically, the general path would be a firm like E&Y doing audits for 5 or so years until you get to chose what field of companies you want to work with.
 
launching your career at one of the big four is honestly probably one of the smartest things you can do. it'll be hard work, but will certainly pay off in the long run.
 
absolutely. it's not necessarily what i want, but it's a start. i've grown up in a small, family owned and run business. my dad is the owner, my dad is the HR department, my dad does the books, my dad answers 75% of the phone calls, my dad signs every check and hands out every delivery slip. i really don't see myself in big business, but to get there the big four is the best route.

I work for my grandpas construction business for $9 an hour. Then I do yard work for a couple neighbors. Some buy $20 for lawn. Some pay $10 an hour.
 
In Broadcasting? Or just production?

I work at "Broadcast Systems and Equipment". It's a warehouse, currently, we're busy building all these broadcast racks to be shipped out to New Zealand for the Rugby World Cup. Besides that, I also manufacture and solder circuit boards for headsets that are to be sent to the military.

Along with TVA/Utilities for sports events with CBC sports and freelance sports events.
 
So we are a massive tour de force, penetrating many levels of society.

Let's do something Fight Club style, Project Mayhem is a go.

delivery puller at Home Depot workin' the graveyard shift.
 
should also say that I work for the Mississauga St. Mike's Majors, OHL hockey team. Doing promotions and game day staff.
 
I wanted a job in construction really bad since I have a background in maintenance from my old job but its so damn hard to find one because all the mexicans take them.
 
I have a local Rita's in my area. How do you have the time to just sit on a comp the whole time? The one near me is always crowded...
