NS what musical instruments do you play?

Well my username kinda gives it away but I play piano and violin, or at least use to.

Got a baby grand at home which I'm super fortunate to have. I've played piano and violin for like around 9 years now. Use to enter comps.

Kinda gave it up due to the extreme commitment that classical music has at a high level.

So NS, what instrument do you play? What's your setup?

Do you still play?
 
Guitar, bass, keys and drums - mediocre at all of them. Drumming is my favourite, it's meditative, you have to empty your mind if you want to play well.

If you played classical you should try fucking with other genres like jazz, hard bop, ragtime etc. I always found classical super boring to play, but that's just me.
 
played cello for 12 years now. Play classical music but also screw around with other genres.

Piano is mad fun. Played viola in elementary school for a bit and tried out guitar but couldn't get the hang of it too well. I'll play a few songs here and there still but it's not my thing. I enjoy piano a lot though. It's one of those things I got the hang of really quickly and I'm able to figure out most songs on my own given some time. I love it!

Also I play trumpet and a little bit of guitar
 
Primarily bass, both upright and electric. Also tool around on the uke and used to do a ton of classical piano until I realized how bad being forced to practice 3 hours a day sucked

There was a guy on here not too long ago who'd cover songs and play each instrument and put it all together and it was actually really sick. I don't remember who it was to link it in here. Anyways, it sounds like you could do something similar and put together some pretty unique stuff if you wanted!

wow that's super impressive. Do you play just for fun? Or do you play as way for income?

kinda cool too how you DJ and play more traditional instruments like the piano and violin
 
i have a 3/4 martin guitar

a old silvertone baritone uke

and i just picked up a gold tone t6 18 tenor guitar which is fucking rad

I started with guitar and piano when I was about 5, then started violin in 4th grade, Saxophone in fifth. In sixth grade I changed to Bassoon and that went on to become the instrument I am best at (Several time all-state honor band member), I picked up bass as a kind of side instrument around freshman year of highschool, then Banjo shortly after. My sister went to college and left her flute so I learned to play that my sophomore year. I started to DJ a little my senior year but now that I'm just finishing up my freshman year of college I am DJing for money fairly often at bars and weddings. Production started as a side project and moved into something that I spend most of my time doing.

that's pretty amazing, and by playing more musical instruments I guess it also helps with the others.
