NS Ski Movie?

Has anyone ever thought of making a Newschoolers.com movie, i mean thinktheres a lot of sick skiiers from all kinds of places around the world, if everyone could get a 1 or 2 min section of footage of themselfs and then we stuck it all together it could be sick. It doesnt have to be big or be sold for high profit around the world it could be free and promote skiing in a good way. I mean if aloud of people had 2 min sections we could atleast get one and a half hours right? Any thoughts or ideas?
 
thats a sick idea man. everyone submits there footage and only the sickest clips make it. that would be way epic
 
doesn't sound like a good idea to me. short sections suck and so do long ski films. i would never watch it the whole way through.
 
uh searchbar...? i know ive seen like two of these threads already BUT..

its a sick idea. it would be hard as fuck though because you would be compiling footage from tons of different cameras and everything, it would be hard and pretty gay dealing and editing all that handycam footy. im guilty of having a handycam but whatever, i wouldnt want the be the editor of this so called NS Ski Movie
 
could be sick but what if a lot of people submitted film9because i mean not everyone will and like 110,000 people would be way to many)

what if some people submitted one of there best clips so everyone could make the film so i would show varying levels of skiing at NS?
 
I had this idea a long time ago...and I want to pitch it to Bishop in a very well planned way...I want to do it by region, and have everyone submit edits...each region would have its own contest and vote...then we would put together the best edits from each region all together in one movie...but we would re-edit all of them a bit to make them flow correctly(ie: change the title sequences, and fonts, etc)

and of course, NS members would be the voters, the only catch here is that the edits would have to be made by non-pro film-makers, only ams
 
Shit would be way too complicated and just be an absolute shit show to edit and produce. That's all I really feel like explaining for why this is a bad idea.
 
The process of people sending footage to one person, not to mention the majority of the footage would be with some shitty single chip camera that is the only camera a good amount of kids on here can afford, so that would throw a loop into all of the high end camera footage, the contrast would look horrible between cameras/footy from different members so so many different formats and shit. Fuck, i wouldn't want to do it.
 
yes but there are a lot of people that have gl1's or better, which is all you need, you can buy hd cams for under 1000$ dollars these days, i'm gonna try and come up with something and see where it goes
 
maybe see if a big movie company would want to help and then they could edit it pretty fast and make it an extra for there movie
 
whoever wins the edit contests should resubmit their raw footage, then when the re-edit is done its easier to match the whole format

To the guys who said this is a re thread, i used the seachbar and didnt find aything so i posted. Also im sure even of they dont have a good camera they have to know someone who does and can lend them on for filming etc.

if i got all the footy sent to me (raw, uncompressed), i would be down to edit it... sure it would suck to get it all in the right formats and stuff, but i dont mind

i have final cut pro and adobe after effects, and a long summer. PM me if this shit goes down, and i would be happy to edit/help edit or whatever.
 
There would need to be some sort of solid quality control regarding the riding, before the footage ends up at the editor, i.e. shaky footage of some kid 270ing off a backyard box may be awesome to him and his friends, but the rest of Newschoolers won't want to watch it, and a thousand submissionis of that shit will make the workload too high for it to ever happen. One option would be to upload them to NS and only start considering any edits with a rating above 9 or something.
 
^yea- we could make a new video section that was titled "NS video submissions" and all the shots are just unedited and stuff...
 
I am currently in the process of making rules, etc...all videos will be uploaded to vimeo....then we will have a vote in a sticky thread in ski gabber.....I'm just gonna get a cult going and we'll see what happens...we've got nothing to lose
 
there was a cult about this a couple yeas back. it started off good i think, but then it died. it would be sick if it worked out, but i doubt it...
 
or it would be sick if all the NSers from the same mountain got together and made one edit. so 1 edit per mountain, i think that would be pretty sweet.
 
The cult is already made, and i made a vimeo channel for all of the entries. if we dont slack, we can make this work... im @ work now, but message me or dave@momentskis for more info. dave would probably be of more help, since he is talking to bishop
