I'm just starting to run and I'm looking for a shoe that would be good for running, but comfortable to wear as an everyday shoe. Can't afford 2 pairs of shoes right now. I am 5'7 155 lbs and have never really ran before. I also have flat feet. Just looking for something that is comfortable and good for everyday wearing. Thanks. If you need more info let me know.

this why cause a lot of problems with how you run. I recommend you going to Podiatrist and get soles made for your feet before you start running frequently.

You can get cheap running shoes, but your running shoe should not be your daily shoe. It's no bueno for your feet and will wear out differently. Since your starting up stay away from the free or barefoot running shoes.

How many miles do you plan on running weekly? Do you have a wide or skinny foot?

I've been running for years on years, feel free to pm me with any questions/ work outs. I just started coaching a hs team so u can get ya on a start up workouts

Dude... Just go to an actual running store and the people there will determine what strike pattern u have and will advise a shoe based on that. That being said, look I would get a pair of brooks. They are pretty durable

Whatever you do, don't buy nikes for serious running, but go to a reputable running store and they will give you a variety of shoes that will work well for you.

And lie and say you're in highschool and run xc, lots of running stores give discounts for scholastic athletes

Go to a running store and they will hook you up with a shoe thats right. they always know whats best. just dont go out willy nilly and get the sickest looking shoe, cause the best looking may cause aching feet sore shins and bad knees. i experienced this with running in the nike free runs a couple years back

yup. I wouldn't take advice from someone on the internet because the haven't seen your feet. go get fitted.

running shoes aren't good every day shoes because they wear down quickly and have no resistance to water most of the time.

A lot of times they wont give you any discount unless your coach has given you a discount card. And they are only valid during the XC season (fall to winter) where I am from.

Go to a good shop (not Dicks or Sports Authority), try them on, run in them outside the store. Don't get distracted by colors or brand. Don't wear them as you everyday shoes. Get some lightweight running/cycling socks too, you will be surprised at how much they help.

Happy running :)

Running barefoot's a lot of fun, I prefer it a lot to wearing running shoes... you should try it and then spend your money on a pair of everyday shoes.

when i started running a year ago i went to a reputable running store because i had no clue about shoes. they did a gait test, where they videotape you running and determine your stride type and how your foot falls. then they lined me up with a few models until i found what i liked. if they are a legit store as this one is, the return policy will allow you to exchange for a different pair if you run in em a few times and they dont fit perfectly. i dropped around a hundred bucks, but it was completely worth it, got into a shoe that was great, i would completely forget about what was on my feet when running which is perfect. and now i know exactly what type of shoe works for me. and as others said, get a separate pair of everyday shoes. find some on sale somewhere who cares how nice those ones are if they have a little support for all day activities and you will be set up. good luck, running was the best thing that has ever happened to me.

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT just buy any old pair of shoes. Follow everyone's advice and go to a running store and get yourself fitted. My first year of track was miserable because i had poorly fitting shoes, and i suffered from terrible shin splints.

dude you really should get separate street shoes. you should also get fitted at a running store but if you cant do that, my coach likes to prescribe the asics cumulus.
