NS opinion on police in USA

some cops are good and keep the streets clean of criminals and act well within their rights as police.

BUT

ALOT of cops abuse their power, are racist and Pricks(or a combination of both) that should be shot in the back of their heads, with their own gun.

Remember this is all my opinion

Whats yours?

Right now mine is that you are really dumb and that you're opinion is not very valid because its not really an opinion at all.

Fuck the police. Look how G my crew is.

Inner city cops are great. Any cop who works in a city which actually has crime is almost always a good guy and is doing a highly commendable service. Don't think I have ever had a negative interaction with a cop somewhere crime actually occurs.

Small town cops are peices of shit who don't deserve their jobs they almost always got through connections. They also get off on telling people what to do.

I like one and hate the other and am comfortable generalizing about both groups of police. The ones who do a dangerous job are not out to bust ordinary people's balls. The cocksuckers wasting public funds in places which no crime occurs are complete scum.

Thats a super valid point actually.

The best experiences that I have ever had with police were when I was working in Thunder Bay Ontario (Most northern major city in Ontario, in the middle of buttfuck nowhere). Thunder Bay has a huge native problem, lots of drug abuse, crime, alcohol etc. Anyways they didnt give a shit about some drunk kids when we were going out on days off, stuff like public drunkenness, open alcohol and other dumb stuff you would normally get booked for is the least of their concern.

I don't think that it is necessarily the fact that the small town cops are bigger assholes. It's just that if you are in a smaller city, they have far fewer worries. Chances are they don't have much gang violence/murders/drugs to deal with, which means they have more time to enforce more petty things. And since the common person does not get involved with gangs/drugs or any high offense, it seems like they are out to get you more. They aren't being dicks, they are enforcing the law. And if you think that they are being dicks for that you are wrong.

Dude I've been treated like a dangerous criminal by plenty of cops. If you don't know what it feels like to have some asshole cop treat you like that and violate your rights you are living under a rock or are extremely square.

ANd plenty of cops have been chill with me. I know how to talk to cops I understand them.

I can generalize about each group based on the danger they face in the area they police and serve. No cop who deals with scary inner city crime has treated me like a dangerous criminal. The ones who have treated me as such have nothing better to do than bust some kids balls.

They aren't all created equally and I have love for the good ones and hate the bad ones who give the others a bad rap.

Oh, because I said you post was bullshit I've never been treated shitty by a cop? I travel the country going to music festivals all year. I get fucked with on the regular.

What I meant was there are tons of douche cops in cities, and there are also tons of good cops in rural areas. It really depends on the cop and the situation. That said a large amount of cops overstep their boundaries to some extent IMO.

All I know is that the Syracuse City Police and Boston Police have ALWAYS been good to me and I've gotten away with a serious amount of shit from them. The shit Syracuse cops let me go for in college was unreal. And most gave me a ride home too. Small town cops and state troopers are a different ballgame. Never been let go with a warning from them.

Don't you live in upstate NY? Getting pulled over on the thruway is never fun is it? (One time I got away with having serious weight in the truck because they knew the stop was completely unethical and dirty and they just wanted to raise funds and ticket me.)

I can't get over the way you worded this. That's like saying Detroit has a black problem or L.A. has a Mexican problem or Montreal has a French problem.

You're from Thunder Bay. You don't even have that large of an aboriginal population. Yes, native people in Canada have higher statistical likelihood of drug, alcohol, crime, gang activity, but saying you have a native problem pisses me off.

Most cops are decent. There are dicks out there but generally speaking, if you show a bit of respect and act like a rational human being, there aren't going to be problems.

When it comes to police responding to legit emergencies and enforcing some kind of agreed peace state, I think it's great. However, sometimes I think it's a little weird that cops and military are figures in our society that can legit use violence to enforce what they want. It's a really scary idea. Especially when it comes down from a government that is not so trust worthy as we have come to find with the recent widespread in the last decade of the internet and the mass spread of new information at our fingertips..

The other day in the city I go to school in, there was a shooting involving the city police. Allegedly, there was a mentally challenged man that was well known to the neighborhood chasing another man with a knife and the 2 cops who responded had to shoot the knife yielding man after some kind of altercation. The victim was black and supposedly a saint..who knows..but it seems as if these cops may have been itching to use their pistols..This is where police work gets very hairy..

It's also weird how police departments are funded off speed traps. I understand there needs to be some kind of ground rules but that system is so ass backwards..And drug departments are funded off silly marijuana farms. hmm funded off drugs ya say..for all those cool guns, toys, and vest!!!

And drugs laws are asinine.

NY troopers are never fun. Now imagine if you were a minority? It really fucking sucks for them..

Since beginning to drive at 16, 8 years ago, I've been pulled over and searched at least 5 times for stupid reasons pointless to list..

Most recent last January on the way home from a show in the city, a cop made my brother, our 2 girlfriends and me stand on the side of the the thruway for atleast 25 mins while they searched the car and made stupid jokes. After all, didn't find the little amount of weed we had but made me dump stems from an empty baggy he found stuffed somewhere on the side of the highway. To top off the annoyance, we get pulled over again 10 minutes from home on the highway by an undercover trooper and tell him we already got searched and he just walked away.. I feel extremely awkward even telling this story..

Marijuana..fear of incarceration is jail itself

I've noticed that cops that lived a little before getting into the profession are more human than their straight out of high school and into the academy prototypes

I have respect for some police, but undercovers and cops who do drug sting ops and controlled buys i have no respect for. Fucking jackasses

Yikes, my experiences were a step down from that. Thats the type of shit I get from Canadian border patrol though when I go to shitty ass Canada. I do remember one dickhead NY statie making me stomp on a slide I had and a bowl on the side of the road though. (I had zero buds on my and just was bringing a pipe and slide to give to my boy back and the guy said it reeked of nug.)

I had a pound in my truck driving back from Boston right before the bridge to cross the hudson. Stupidly I didn't get off to go through albany. I also had an expired license or a warrant or something and had to be towed.

There was road work and they didn't post the speed limit dropping, it was a complete scam (me and my dad drove past where I was pulled over and there was no sign on the side of the road and when I fought the fine in court other people showed up saying they fell for the same shit in the same spot) I bet the trooper smelled it too but knew since he was violating peoples rights to begin with he didn't want to be searching anything.

SO anyways at that court date it was pathetic how sheepish everyone was. It was on something like a Tuesday night and 100 people showed up to fight their tickets. I swear on my life that 99/100 took the deal the prosecutor offered them to drop their ticket to 5 over the speed limit and make it cheaper. I was the only one who was like "fuck you not guilty call the prick who pulled me over and bring him in." Literally noone else put them to this.

I ended up calling their bluff when they changed it to parking on the pavement and it didn't fuck my insurance but still it was disgusting the tactics they used. ALWAYS TAKE SHIT TO TRIAL AND SEE WHAT THEY OFFER YOU RIGHT BEFORE A JURY GETS BROUGHT IN ALWAYS YOU NEED TO FIGHT FOR THE FEW RIGHTS YOU HAVE IN THIS FUCKIN POLICE SOCIETY!!!!

Don't drive like an idiot an know your rights. Make sure your signals work and have your lights on at at night or in shit weather. If you are driving on the highway, stay within 10 mph, signal your lane changes and you're good. If you're driving the highway at night you shouldn't run into any problems doing that. If you do get pulled over don't let them search and don't say anything stupid.

Try not to let your car smell like jamaica. If you're burning in there constantly let that shit air out after. Will it linger, sure, but it'll be a lot better.

Yeah that seems like I'm stating the obvious but so many people get in trouble on the roads because they were driving like idiots, they never aired out there car, or they didn't know what to say to the cops.

Also NY isn't even close to the worst state. And I agree that the drug laws are fucking ridiculous.

BPD is actually awesome. Never met a bad Boston cop, and I've met so many Boston officers.

I partially agree with you, I'll use skating as an example.

Skating in Boston/Providence = Sometimes cops come and watch us skate, usually very cool about it. Sometimes ask us nicely to leave, but usually leave us be.

Skating in Foxboro, Mansfield, Sharon etc. (all are small towns south of Boston in MA if you're not familiar with the area) = Get my information taken down and get yelled at before I even get a chance to leave politely. This has happened so many times. Sometimes they ask you to leave, and I always do without arguing, but a lot of times they just start berating you right off the bat, and then take down your names without any warning. I completely understand private property and crowded areas, but Ive been kicked out of ridiculous places like non-busy public backroads, huge empty parking lots, etc. I always tell them my name is Chris Cole lol.

There are good small town cops as well, though. My 6th grade D.A.R.E. officer from Norfolk was one of the coolest guys ever, and he was a real cop too, not just some guy they hired to do the D.A.R.E. program.

But overall, I'd agree with you. Cops never give me shit unnecessarily in places like Boston, Providence, Worcester, etc. all places that I'm in frequently. It's because they have more important things to do as policemen, and this generally makes them nicer cops, imo. It's all relative though, there are definitely plenty of dick city cops and cool small town cops.

It does not matter if everything is working correctly, or you're following all the traffic laws. I am said brother in the story and I was pulled over for a moving violation that only the officer saw. They pulled us over because there was four people in the car after 2 am. Thats it and that is all.

I am currently at my overnight village police dispatcher job and I have noticed a lot about police work in the last few months. First, you may notice village/town cops seem less professional, that is because they are. In this village, a college degree isn't even required. Opposed to state troopers, which require a 4 year degree.

Next, the majority of calls they get are ridiculous. It is normally just some crackhead complaining another junkie stole their pills or a wife who has been hit by her husband but she doesn't want to press charges. What I'm trying to say is police work is not what the movies make it out to be. It gets old, fast. Cops generally are not out there saving the day. They spend most of their time dealing with crazy people. When they treat some punk kid like shit they are usually just so freaking jaded by the amount of bullshit theysee on a daily basis. So, next time you see a cop acting a like an asshole remember their job sucks. Also, remember they have the personality of a cop, mixed with human ego. If you test a cop, he is going to make sure his dick is bigger than yours. That is human nature. And as for cops being racists, our system is racist. Our society promotes it. It is sad. But, cops are not the most open minded people. Our society needs an over-haul in that category. Until then, it is nice being a white stoner, cops ignore us for the most part...

Yup not a bad word to say about BPD.

Not my neck of the woods but my dad lives in Norton and I have had experience with Mansfield and Foxboro cops. They are total jerks and I can only guess what Sharons would be like. (Norton aren't great but nowhere near Foxboro or Mansfield level more lazyness than anything ie a traffic light will be out and all of them will refuse to go direct traffic.)

Im actually meaning to hop in on that class action lawsuit for all the protective custodies at Pats games.

I swear to god I did nothing to deserve the cops arresting me I was just walking out and I wasn't in a big crowd so got picked off. But I was hammered. In the drunk tank everyone seemed sober and were respectable middle class people I was probably the most fucked up and I didn't do anything. Disgusting violations of peoples civil rights.

Great Woods is the worst venue of its kind in America because of the behavior of Mansfield Police. And some of my fav bands refuse to play there again because of those pigs.

Utah is the worst state I think.

Coming into it from Nevada with Mass plates (so a drug runner to them) doing nothing wrong guess what I was pulled over for?

Driving in the fast (passing) lane. Seriously. On a 4 lane highway I was only allowed to be in one lane to them. Not speeding, nothing other than being in the inside lane. IF I got arrested for something that is their probably cause.

I wish I demanded the guys badge and sued or something but he obviously let me go with no hassle and a warning. And obviously went out of his way to be nice and friendly since he knew he was violating peoples civil rights.

Think I was pulled over 3 more times that trip.

My brother already chimed in but I'll resay that we were driving normal and it was after 2am with 4 people in the car. Also 2 stickers on the car. Fuck the stereotyping bullshit and the macho man games they like to play..It's the same bullshit after concerts/festivals too. I'm 24 and do burn in the car way more than I should but still..fuck troopers when it comes to traffic violations lol.

To add, the cop was expecting all legit answers out of us but when I asked nicely about why we got stopped, his demeanor changed in a flash and he replied snappy with "you'll find out." Then Lou gets a ticket for crossing a white line while a tractor trailer passes us in the RIGHT lane on the Tappan Zee bridge...fuck that!!!!

While the cop was behind uour car a tractor trailer flew by both of us and after that I got pulled over. The point was he targeted us.

The problem being: cops have a lot of power. They carry a weapon and can ruin your day. But, often the people deciding if cops are making the right choices are cops themselves. So they obviously take the side of the authorities. Police work is a job. And no matter what business it is, there will be shitty employees. The difference is these employees carry guns and tasers. They need to be set to a higher standard.

Cops need to give people like you more tickets than they do speeders. Fucking idiots spacing the fuck out if the passing lane making others pass on the right, fuck up the flow of traffic, etc.. Hogging the left lane creates much more dangerous scenarios than the guy going 15mph over.

The trailer probably "flew by you" because you were dicking around in the left lane. The cop chose right to pull you over instead. I hate cops who just pull people over for the hell of it. But I applaud this cop, it's something more people need to be getting pulled over for. We have some of the most retarded spacey drivers in this country, they're more of a problem than the average speeder who knows how to actually drive on a highway.

1. you were chilling in the left lane

2. you were chilling in the left lane WITH SOMEBODY BEHIND YOU

you are a bad driver and should feel bad
