NS Notifications?

To improve the communication aspect of the website and enhance the forums, particularly the BST forum, why not send notification emails or even have some sort of pop-up when logging on to the site that notifies you of a message, a post in your forum, or a comment on one of your pics/vids?
I know from experience that sometimes a question directed at me in a video or post in one of my BST threads goes unnoticed, something that I feel could be easily corrected. Im basically talking about copying the notification system that facebook uses, which allows the user to choose wether or not they would like to have an email sent to them when something happens that involves them, and also has a little red box pop up when you log in, showing you the number of notifications you have.
I feel this could make the site a lot easier to manage, especially for those who do not log on multiple times a day.
Thoughts?

Quality repost though, it's a good idea. I'm guessing it would take a ton of time and money to follow through with this though

Agreed. It gets up once every 3 months or so.

One thing. The EA Game forums have it where if you post in a thread you get a notification when the FIRST new post is posted. You don't get one for every post but just a notification for the first one and that is it. If they implemented it that way rather than other forums that send you an email EVERY time the thread gets posted in it would be good for many members.

Having it as an option is key though.

Yeah that was the first thing that came to my mind. If you receive a message from every post in the thread that would make a lot of messages. Having the option would be a great solution.

What about the newest sort of facebook notifuckations? Where they come up on the side and fade off after a couple of seconds

Yep, also in those notifications like a little snippit (sp?) of what was replyed in that thread. So many times I look in my threads to see if someone replied to my post, and it's a bump.

It's a good idea, but it would be pretty annoying for people that create a thread that ends up with 10 ++ pages. It's like logging on FaceBook and have 100 notifications.you know?

Yes, but theoretically you would simply see that there was 100 notifications, click your "notification tab" once, and the number would disappear. If you wanted to, you could scroll through them all to see who particularly commented or if something other than that one thread was mixed in.
