NS is copying SLVSH/SLAPP?

Just saw a post on the NS IG featuring the "Best of December - Top Rated Member Clips"

SLVSH has been doing this on their IG for a while now. It is the top SLAPP tricks from a given week or month. They are always extremely banger and feature all the top pro riders.

NS is doing the exact same thing, but featuring members (showing their username in Orange, blue, green) doing banger tricks.

It is totally copying SLVSH, but I also think it is kind of cool. SLVSH/SLAPP is more aimed at featuring top pros throwing insane shit (my preference), where as NS is showing off the members. Kind of a cool concept - like for example, akwut and chef_boyardee were both featured and they are some straight shredders... I had no idea.

A tip for NS - keep it to blue names and let SLAPP cover the orange name/pro stuff.

I don't really follow the gram that much but sounds cool. What's wrong with featuring some people throwing down goods? Especially member content?

It's not as if SLVSH created this idea. The concept of "top content" of the day/week/month etc. is no new idea. Many of sports media publishers do these kind of things with their contributors content as well as pros.

It's not the idea of a top content ranker. It is just the fact that what NS posted is literally identical to what SLVSH/SLAPP has been posting for months.

I do like the idea of NS featuring member content... but the execution of it is such a rip off of an awesome thing that SLVSH has been doing for a while now.

Compilation videos have been around since the invention of YouTube. We have been wanting to highlight our members that upload videos for awhile, so we're stoked to start doing this more often as we iron out the process.

Lol, the staff at NS is so bad at taking feedback.

I mean the problem is you did two things in your post:

#1 - Accuse us of stealing from Slvsh.

#2 - Give Feedback.

Without #1, you would have gotten a much clearer response to point #2. I think that Point #2 is excellent, and our concept here was to better highlight the awesome member videos on the site. It used to be that these just naturally came to the top of the top rated video section, and they still do... but not nearly as many people park themselves there and watch every single edit that drops. Nowadays, there's way more people looking at this stuff on social, and link posts back to the videos don't do that well.

Our goal here was to highlight the cool stuff being uploaded to the site, to give exposure to those who are uploading. Orange vs. Blue names wasn't a thought, it was just who had uploaded the best stuff to the site in December. All orange, blue and pink names are members of Newschoolers... so the logic was they qualify.

Is what you're really saying that we should do our best to uncover more up-and-coming talent vs. posting about what pros put on the site?

I don't see a problem here (although i don't follow NS in instagram i'm on the site nearly everyday). what's wrong with more clips from the community?

Looks like the majority of ns has a brain and is agreeing here. Why would anyone be upset about seeing more skiing content from different outlets? love the best of the month member clips!

No idea. :)

These things are about to start dropping again too, so definitely upload clips if you want to be included!
