ok so im gonna be a jr in highschool this year. last year, when i was a sophomore, they told us late in the year that they would only make us read 1 book and do no work with it until school started, and you choose it from a list of 50, which 50 teachers submitted 1 book of their choice. i was like ok, this isnt bad at all. i picked lone survivor and ive started reading it cause its a sick book, about navy seals. they gave us a sheet at the end of the year that said "AP students may have to read extra books to meed curriculum standards". i was ok with that, because i am in honors level 1 this year, not ap.

so then during the summer each student received a letter in the mail, which i did not read at all, and it said that students in level 1 also have to read huck finn, and do shitloads of writing, and the book is 544 fuckin pages. i just learned that from a friend today, and i have only like 2 weeks before school starts and im working a full time job, and i hate reading.

now i def wanna not have anything to do with that gay book, because our school is gay, i dont even feel like sparknoting it. i wanna just say that i never received that letter, and the other sheet (which i still have i think) said that we would only have to read 1 book, and ap students would have to do more, not level 1 honors.

the problem is, is that both junior level 1 teachers are really bitchy, and like the stupidest old fucking hags ever. they get pissed about the tiniest thing. last year my friend went in quietly and didnt say a word and minded his own business just to get a book during a class, and one of the teachers absolutely power tripped and said "you think you can just come in here and disrupt my class? dont ever come in here during my class again!!!!!!!!!"

so i know that she wont buy it if i say i never got it in the mail, but i was wondering that if i argue to the school, can i get away with it? or would it be a better bet just to sparknote and do the work? which is like 3 papers.

and please give good advice, dont just say pee in her butt or give her a cunt punt, or cool story hansel. +k for nice answers

I'd say it depends on how much you care about your grades and such...personally i would go with the first choice since it seems like a very easy mistake and a completely legitimate excuse (full time job) plus im just a slacker. but yeah if you care about making that grade do the work because they probably won't forgive it for you. another pro of not doing the work is to let them know that its a completely bogus move to change that shit up on you while schools not in session. they won't give a shit, but you'll know you resisted their bullshit a tiny bit.

^ yeah if you really care about your grades sparknote it
if you dont really id say you didnt get it and burn any evidence that you did get it. shit gets lost in the mail

and if she bitches, cunt punt her

ah well if u can get ur parents to say that u were away or somthin and didnt get it till mad late then u might get away with it. if its only up to u tho, well, if the teachers are uptight id say just bs a paper. its really not that hard to do

and unless you can get a number of people to do it, then i think the "i didnt get it" will work.

also. if ur planning on not having ur teacher hate u throughout the entire year, well, id start the year off well by bsing the paper

Five hundred pages is nothing. Just suck up and SparkNote it. SparkNote's literally takes five minutes to read, but then again I am a really fast reader.

i hate reading, i can never concentrate on books unless i like em, like lone survivor or gates of fire. i guess ill just sparknote though, and bs some papers

you could try peeing in her butt.

but on a serious note do not fuck with schools. i mean sure its not fair at all but they make the rules 100%. at best you would still have do the work later in the year. trust me i got suspended because i smelled like weed

really last year i was reading like 150 a night near the end of the year....look for the book on audio, that always helps

honestly just do the work....not smart screwing wit schools..if u care bout ur grades dont skip it..but if u can get ur parents too go along wit a story....i would do the work

just do the work... especially where its like your first assignment, you want to do well and stuff so you get a good reputation with the teacher.... then push stuff later maybe

lone survivor is an amazing book, i read it in like 2 days because i couldn't stop.

but i say sparknotes. my class had to read a tale of 2 cities and do shit like that, and i just sparknoted and did decent.

yeah ed. haha

but, i would say sparknote it and actually try to write a legit paper, or three, it's not that bad.

come on you have two weeks, you can do plenty of stuff in that amount of time.

but, if you want to bullshit/make stuff up, i guess you can but i would recommend getting on your teacher's good side at the beginning of the year. that payed off for me last year.

and that is so unbelievably retarted that you were assigned homework over summer vacation.

i feel bad for you

its amazing how much work they make you do in high school. im in college right now and by just attending class i manage to pull good grades. so glad i took the slacker approach to school work.

2 weeks is fine enough. Just read at night, and sparknotes if you cant. I would NOT suggest saying you didn't get the letter. They wont buy it.

id just tell the truth. say that you got the letter 2 weeks before school and you were working a full time job and that you didnt have time to do it. worst case scenario is you have your mom or someone tell the school its true. you would probably get an extension on the papers or something. either way, good luck.

spark note everything first, then read about 30 pages each from the beginning , middle and most important the end.

come on, the choice is obvious. you just didn't get the letter, its possible. and from what my sister told me about summer hw teachers dont even check it. atleast you're not in my boat, i read 2 200 page books, wrote around 35 analytical responses (1 for each chapter), which wasn't fuckin easy at all, and then, like 3 weeks after i finished, i find out my AP english teacher left for another school, and it was her fucking assignment. BULLSHIT! so yea, just say you didn't get the letter, and you did the hw that was assigned to you on the last day, and you should be in the clear.

well u could actually get away with u didnt get the letter, if u can talk your parents into saying that u didnt get the letter or if they actually didnt read it that will work, but ur prbly gonna have to do some sort of make up assignment. I was at a comp for a week last year and they faxed me an extra assignment that i thought was bullshit, it said do a paper on one of the themes from the book, then the page gets fuzzy, then at th bottom it said have all three papers in by tuesday when you get back. So i took it and went to the gas station and copied it but made sure there was a gap inbetween the top and the paper so it truned pretty much the whole paper black, i showed it to them and they exempted me from it

Ha i have to write 68 paragraphs in three days.

But i keep going on NS to write shit like this.

Shit.

ya, im "multitasking" too...... good thing the book was only 105 pgs..... i only have the intro done.. ha

but ya, heres a few ideas i would consider:

1. skip school 4 the first few days to get it done.

2. stop ns until ur done; unplug tv, compuper, fridge... (i know im a hipocrit)

3. ..."i was in (insert faraway place here) and didnt get letter until the day before school" u have 2 get ur friends stuck to ur alibi...

4. its just the beginning of the year, so i bet if u just ask for more time, as in:"ill get it 2 u before school starts tomorrow" is the best one. dont say :"can i get more time", say "ill get it 2 u......."...

ANDY! i just realized this! Dont say you didn't get the letter, because then if you straight up say you didn't get the letter, you obviously did. show up to your first day completely oblivious to the fact you got the assignment. when asked if you got a letter, then you answer no. im a genius!!!

seriously just do the reading. at least sparknote it.

i work a fulltime job too, and i gotta read four more books before september 3... and i'm in your grade.

but anyway, yo, i did that last year.

cause i didn't know if they were putting me in honors or regular, so i didn't know which book to read, so i decided not to read any of them.

when i got to school and they put me in regular i told them that i read the honors book, cause the regular book was soooo dumb. so they tested me on the honors book instead. i sparknoted it and everything was a-ok.

yeah i would say act completely oblivious to the letter, but if you think they're gonna make you do the work anyway you might as well do it in the summer when you have time and not the first weeks of school. thats my take on things
