NS App

Ns is probably one of my most visited websites especially on mobile, I think it would be great to see a ns app out there. If there already is one somebody call me out on it but I didn't see one and I would definately find it useful

All good man, believe me we understand the need for an App. Its just interesting because a lot of people have been making threads lately asking for it, and I'm confused if there's a specific thing that has changed, or if its just that mobile has been exploding and there simply is more people getting frustrated.

We have very limited development resources at Newschoolers, and can only tick one thing off 'the list' at a time. This one has been in the pipes for a while, but we haven't managed to move on it yet.

As for the other app, this was done by a user, and promoted by us. However, it was built using HTML Scraping, so it was fragile at best. When there wasn't enough revenue from downloads, the person who built it stopped updating, one of our template changes broke it and that was that.

Meh... personally I philosophically disagree with this. I don't like being unwelcoming to new members, and I loathe it when I go to forums that have restrictions on first post.

If enough people voted for it, its not difficult to add. I just don't like the idea of it... too elitest or something.

Plus if the first post out of someone is truly idiotic, they usually get beaten down pretty quick.

I agree. The only one I've ever seen that I was even OK with was your first post had to be in one of two treads; an introduce yourself thread...which could have been a simple "Hi" or an actual this is who I am and why I'm here, or you had to post in a general rules and FAQ question...didn't mean you had to read it, just post in it...but at least it was a try.

As for the app, the mobile site isn't broken and works just fine. Yeah, it's not a native app, but it works great. I use chrome on my phone, so it is annoying that you can't save it to the home screen, but I just leave it as an open tab in chrome and have never had a problem. I native app would be great, but I certainly wouldn't put it as a high priority.
