November the 3rd...

Yeah, probably 14-15k to completely rig it, 5k less than canon with 4k,3k and 720p120fps

I know with what Red had just released at the price point they did they ripped a part what canon released because it doesn't even compare and is $9,000-$11,000 more before rigging.

Well put. Is the scarlet supposed to just be red's take on the hddslr or will it perform like a camcorder? Sorry red noob here.

It seems to be modular like the epic? So you could build it up to be more like an HDSLR for photos and videos, but the idea is to be a video camera. Where an HDSLR is a DSLR that takes reasonable video, this is a serious video cam that takes really good photos.

And yea, Canon was just taken out back and put down. I would be really embarrassed if I had anything to do with Canon right now.

this might be a dumb question but on their site it says the minimum filming temp is 32 degrees, wont that be a pain for filming skiing? or is there a simple work around? because taping hand warmers on probably wont work supper well.

you put a coating around the camera.... like you would filming in the rain. They make some insulated ones. I'd use it during filming surfing too, not with insulation obviously.

Order completed...BAM Century Link for the win.

Thanks guys been waiting and saving for a long time. My wife is as stoked as I am! Big step forward for us. I'll be sure to share what I can on here. I'll post .r3d files when I can.

Currently have a Imac 12GB RAM, 2.7 GHz Core i5.

Building a new PC prior to receiving the camera though.

They just tested this one at -20*C and it worked still.

If I wasn't currently paying for school I could afford a full Scarlet rig. WHY do I have to go to college? My life sucks!

First world problems!
