Notifications about picture comments?

I don't know if iv missed it and this does happen somewhere, but I just looked through my pictures a couple days ago and some people posted comments months ago and I had no idea until I looked.

it would be nice to get some form of a notification when you get a new comment on a picture or video.
 
i think the site would start to become to much like facebook or something that it doesnt want to be
 
Whats your point? Facebook's obviously doing something right, and it would be nice to know if someone commented on a picture or video of mine without me having to go through and look for a new one.
 
agree, if someone asks for advice from you on a specific pic, you will have no idea, unless you check back on the pic
 
Please tell me how this is a bad idea at all? It could obviously turned on and off, and I see in no way shape or form, how it could do any harm. It could be very helpful.
 
I would be fine with it as long as I could turn it off.There should just be a checkbox on every picture you upload when you originally edit it. "Allow comment notifications" or something like that.
 
Im in no way saying I want it to turn into facebook style. iv had people have long conversations on my pictures before and that can be really annoying.. but when someone asks a question about your picture and you never see it for 5 months its really annoying, or when you ask a question on someone elses picture you dont want to go check all the time to see if they ever responded.
 
i agree with having picture notifications or something like it??

but videos? that could get straight annoying with how many comments some videos get! just like on facebook! you say one little thing about a status and next time you log on you got 53 notifications to sort through.

pics not vids would be cool
 
Notifications would be amazing, it's such a pain going through your pictures or posts to see if someone has replied.

I'd say facebook is quite successful in some of their tactics on social networking.
 
are comments too "facebook"? what about profile pictures? or friends?

the sites not gonna turn into facebook, id just be nice if there was somewhere where you could check to see if anyone has commented your pics without having to look through all your pics
 
Optional notifications is something we would like to implement eventually. For those of us on here every day it wouldn't be useful, but for the more part-timers it could be nice to not have to constantly check back and track your threads/media .
 
Im here every day, but I dont check my own pictures daily to see if anyone commented. I would like notifications. Not for threads, just pictures
 
when people say NS isn't facebook, well why not try to be a little more like them? FB is one of the largest sites on earth for a reason...
