NOTHING IS RUINING SKIING, SKIING IS DOING AWESOME RIGHT NOW

im sorry, but the glut of threads recently about literally anything ruining skiing, killing skiings priorities, or whatever, is getting old.
skiing is merely blowing up and changing right before us, often too fast to even keep up. thats all. skiing is where its at, and is sooo dope, so much so that people everywhere are starting to recognize. snowboarders give us mad props, our pros are on morning shows and the news, our sport has all kinds of contests from the x-games to small contests done by the big names at their local resorts, we have all kinds of riders and pulling from different age groups, little kids think its "cool" to be a skier again, we have big companies and little ones supporting the industry, and it happens to still be fun for all of us no matter how we shred, where we shred, even if its when no one is watching, just killing it thinking "that was soo sick".
and not only that, but the entire freaking freeskiing community practically, from newbs and mary o'neil fakes to tanner level pros and industry insiders, are on THIS website. so while there are all kinds of small glitches that are readily apparent because its such a tight knit community, really, freeskiing is on its game in my opinion.
now if only we could get a sick video game....

I agree. You cannot keep on reminiscing about the glory days of freestyle skiing all the time.

Nostalgia. It is not what it used to be.

ever since the start i've never felt skiing was uncool or anything like that, but yeah i guess in a way you're right. skiing is way more appealing right now than a few years back...

totally agree, and when we get a video game, there are still going to be people bitching about how skiing is too mainstream because of it, even though they supported the idea in the past, people like to hate

did you watch that vid allen posted up, me too

and i couldn't agree more, everything seems great to me, everyone is still having fun and thats what matters.

We all love skiing, that is what the newschoolers.com community is all about. but different people have different ideals on what is important in the sport, and there's nothing wrong with voicing those opinions and perhaps inspiring others to feel the same way. when it comes down to it though, I think it is great that there are so many different styles and focuses, i would hate it if everyone had the same ideas as I do, nothing would be unique. So ya, some shit in skiing is pretty gay, but let the bitches do the bitch-made shit, it makes the rest of us look that much better

Awesome man, I agree 100%. I started freeskiing way back when the original 1080 came out, and even after the sport was solidified/legit (1242 era), I still would have never believed in a million years that skiing is where it is today.

The level of talent has gotten so high, and the tricks that are goin down now are some of the biggest and most impressive in all of action sports, and people are finally seeing them with things like X and Dew tour. You can not only now make a good living as a top pro, but you can actually get discovered with the edit revolution thats been happening. and yeah, NS is def unique in really being a virtual representation of the entire freeski community, and as the driving force behind that^.

and by far, the best part of all this, is that you no longer have to refer to yourself as a freestyle, newschool, or free skier anymore. Skier finally gets the point across.

If that is true then constantly debating over skiing and making countless threads about no poles/doubles/money/steeze would end forever. That would turn NS into an entirely positive website full of skiers supporting one another and pushing the sport through their passion for it. I can't let that merely on principle. After all, mean spirited photoshop threads are hilarious.

oh, i think the skis will stop progressing, i cant comprehend what other technology will come out, number of park skiers will continue to increase for at least 5 years, a it gets more popular i think that people will switch to skiing from snowboarding like they did in the opposite way in the last 10 years. but im not sure how difficult tricks can get, maybe it will stop at the quad cork

all i was trying to say earlier too was just that, thinking that small things that are side effects of a overall positive trend are inevitable, and we should just take it in stride. do i think henriks tall tees are ridiculous? yes, and many agree. many more disagree. however, i think just about everybody feels his skiing, and thats what matters. i feel like almost every "issue" in skiing is like this. kids are growing up skiing only park, cant ski pow. ok, well, so they grow up on the east coast with no mentors and few and far between pow days. hopefully they will develop a passion for skiing as a sport, and will eventually take the initiative to become more well rounded.

this is kinda my thinking. trying to make grand sweeping statements is just overkill, at least in this stage of the game. we can do that when we have a burton and a shaun white.

skiings real fun, i really like it and i hope other people continue to find out how fun it is and add their own flavor to our community. like collins said, there may be people out there doing shit that i think is wack as fuck, and sometimes i have to bite my tongue, but i've realized its way better to do that than to get caught up in the hating bullshit. I think skiings doing just fine right about now, and i'm not about to stop any time soon.

it was a rooler blading vid and towards the end it spoke about how bad the industry is doing right nowi just thought thats what you were referring to because i had just watched it, forgot what it was called but it was sick

Skiing perfectly fine

if i had a nickel for every time someone after the ski season made a thread on there opinion of the "state of skiing" i would be able to buy like a meal at a fast food place

exactly.
you gotta be proud of the sport moving forward. Dont forget the past, but don't avoid the future.
