Not makin pipe skiing in olympics 2010 sucks BIG TIME!!!

just think.if pipe skiin becomes olympic sport in 2014..russians barely know how to ski(no offence but they really suck at it)so what do they know about pipe skiing.baseball and softball just got kicked out of olympics because no one watched those sports.and in 2014 pipe skiing would be exhibition sport.so imagine exhibition sport that no one watches.in 2010 would be different.people would come to watch it and it would be more popular than some other sports at the olympics.
 
i don't know how snowboarding pipe is in it but not skiing....

isn't that like racist...but like skiest?
 
i dont know why america wouldnt take this more seriously i mean the only medals we get in the winter olympics is snowboarding half pipe. america is home to some of the best pipe skiers... stupid america. they could win some more winter medals. theyre just ignorant.
 
skiing down a halfpipe is not "olympic" status mind you there are some corny ass games in the olympics but mostly because of olympic tradition. big mountain skiing would be a much better dicipline to put in the olympics.
 
the judges want a sport that is easy to judge. like racing has nothing to do with style its all in speed. then theres gymnastics. wat the fuck.
 
nope that shit just dont work that way. big mountain doesnt require you to train hours and hours.
 
pipe skiing deserves to be in more the snowboarder pipe
skiing is way older, and snowboarders arent doing nearly as crazy stuff as guys like tanner or simon
 
i dont know why people hate on badminton and table tennis so much

they are huge out of north america and in the world much bigger than pipe skiing
 
how can you say that skiing big mountain doesnt require hours of practice, but skiing pipe does? i can "ski" down a pipe much easier than the terrain in big mtn comps. both take a lot of practice, and balls, but neither will prolly make it to the olympics. maybe in russia, but i still doubt it. we need more publicity. freestyle skiing is growing tremendously, but not enough for olympic status yet. theres only a handfull of countries involved so.
 
Hey thread creator, the Olympics doesn't do "exhibition sports" anymore, the last time that happened (in a winter games) was Lillehammer '94.

These days, when a sport gets in, it is a full medal Olympic discipline right from the start. For example, Snowboarding, Skiercross, BMX etc were never "exhibition sports" before they got accepted.
 
Oh yeah, and about your comment that Russians barely know how to ski, you should learn some history about the roots of this shit..

Sergei Shupletsov from Russia, before his tragic death in a motorbike crash, was one of the greatest mogul skiers of all time, and many people in our sport like JP Auclair, etc. still cite him as one of their biggest infuences.

and they took out softball cus USA was to good and baseball cuss all the players sucked and there was no pros not cus no 1 watched it

the way freestyle skiing is progressing at such a fast rate, freestyle skiing could be dead.

i agree, but it kind of limits possible locations of the olympics, its not near as easy of a spectator sport, and its not as accepted world wide as a sport, let alone a possible olympic sport

i think hafpipe is the best place to start and from there we can work slopestyle and big mountain next
 
Word, how would you have regulated specifications for a big mountain course? Or slopestyle? IMO it would ruin anything but superpipe.
 
Id say that if you spin right you still spin right no matter what wall you're on. And also backflips and frontflips...

Anyway are the 2014 games in Russia? Didnt even know that until now, even though its the neighboring country

Vancouver would be pppeeerrfeecctt to debut halfpipe skiing. I dont see why the olympic commite havnt allowed it yet when its just as much as a sport as ariels is like we do spins and flips to except we make it steezy.
 
compare a good snowboarding run from the 06' olympics and either tanner or simon from last years xgames. the result is that skiing pipe is not the on same level as snowboarding. the only place skiing stands out is amplitude.
 
Ok first of all softball and baseball did not get kicked out because NOBODY watched them. They were kicked because not enough countries particicpated in them.
 
its so lame because they already have a superpipe made!!! all they would have to do was let skiers take a run.
